Chapter 125
Billionaire’s Missing Darling
Amelia did not expect that Olivia would reject her so decisively. She was stunned for a moment. Her face turned ashen, and her hands trembled in anger.
âThis Olivia is so disrespectful to me!â
She slammed her phone on the floor. A cloud of warning settled over her features.
Emma carefully picked up the phone and observed the look on her motherâs face. Then, she asked in a soft voice, âDoes Olivia think that the clothes are too oldâfashioned, so she doesnât want them? I still haveâ¦â
Before Emma could finish the sentence, Amelia suddenly interrupted her in a harsh tone. âWhat an ungrateful brat! Donât bother with her. Let her make a fool of herself tomorrow.â
Amelia was so angry that her head was spinning. A swell of irritation vibrated in her chest as if it would burst through her lungs.
After sitting on the sofa for a long while, she finally cooled off.
Amelia regained her senses and turned to gaze at Emma, thinking, âOlivia would definitely make a fool of herself and embarrass both the Green and the Taylor families the day after tomorrow. Therefore, Emma could not make a mistake. To salvage our reputation ruined by Olivia, Emma has to be the star of the event.â
Thinking of that, Amelia said, âI heard that Mr. Abel Dubois is in Evervale these days. He has designed a unique diamond gown which is currently on exhibit in the country. Iâll contact him later to buy the dress.â
âAbel? A diamond gown?â
Emmaâs eyes suddenly lit up, and her heart was beating fast. âIs Mom talking about the dress named Angel? Itâs a unique whiteâcolored long train diamond gown which costs several millions of dollars.â
It was the first time Emma wanted a piece of apparel so desperately.
She had never worn such an expensive gown before.
It wasnât that Emma couldnât afford it, but it wasnât worth it. Several millions of dollars could buy a luxury car or a mansion. Using that much money to buy a garment that she would only wear a few times was a bit extravagant for her.
Moreover, these kinds of dresses were normally created by designers to participate in competitions and not for sale.
To buy one, other than money, one also needed connections.
âMom.â Emma tried to control her slightly trembling voice. âIsnât it too. glamorous? Iâ¦
âHow can it be too glamorous?â Amelia looked at Emma fondly. âNot matter how expensive the gown is, my daughter is worthy of it.â
Ameliaâs voice became gentle. She stroked Emmaâs head lovingly and said with sorrow, âMy Emma has suffered. Ever since Olivia is back, you havenât had a single day of peace. You put up with everything and yield in every way. Even Ethan Turner was stolen from you. Itâs really been hard on you.â
Emma threw herself into Ameliaâs arms, her eyes moist and her voice choked, like an aggrieved little girl. âMom, Iâm not afraid of hardship. Even if you want me to go back to the orphanage, Iâm willing to.
Iâm just afraid that you donât want me.â
âSilly girl.â Upon hearing this, Ameliaâs heart ached. âHow can I not want you? Youâre my daughter.â
After comforting Emma, Amelia called Abel and requested to buy the dress.
Abel agreed without hesitation.
Amelia was delighted. âThatâs great. My daughter is going to wear Angel to her grandfatherâs birthday party the day after tomorrow. Can you come over and help with the fitting?â
Much like haute couture clothing, the unique dress required the designer to fit it personally.
Amelia thought that since Abel had agreed to sell the gown to her so readily, he would come over to help with the fitting and make necessary alterations. But unexpectedly, the designer rejected her.
âWhy?â Amelia was surprised.
Top fashion designers like Abel were very particular about their works and pursued perfection in every detail. Under normal circumstances, Abel would engage in extended communication with the buyer and make multiple alterations.
âIâm really sorry, Mrs. Taylor. I should alter the gown according to your daughterâs size, but Iâm really not available these days,â Abel said apologetically, âYou really donât have time?â Amelia frowned in confusion. âI thought your exhibition was over?â
Abel smiled, unable to hide the joy in his voice. âNo, no, itâs not about the exhibition. Iâm making a gown for a distinguished lady these days.
Coincidentally, she will also be attending a party the day after tomorrow. So Iâm sorry, I really canât find the time.â
âA distinguished lady?â Amelia looked puzzled and couldnât understand for a designer, what could be more important than his own creation?
Amelia was about to make an issue out of it, but Abel seemed to have anticipated her actions and spoke first. âI know this is my fault. Mrs. Taylor, if youâre not satisfied, you can choose not to buy the gown.â âNo, no, no.â Amelia was anxious and immediately said, âItâs alright, itâs alright. Mr. Dubois, you can go ahead with your work. As for the gown, I still want it.â
Abel nodded. âAlright, my assistant will contact you later and send Angel to the Taylor family. I have something to attend to here, so Iâve got to go.â Without waiting for Ameliaâs response, he hung up.
Olivia was standing in front of the mirror, trying on clothes. When she saw Abel walking over, she cast a glance at him, then quickly averted her gaze and looked at herself in the mirror.
âThis gown looks great. It suits you perfectly.â Abelâs eyes were filled with admiration.
Olivia frowned slightly. âItâs too sexy.â
Abel looked at it and examined the details before saying, âI can alter it.â âWill that be too much trouble?â
Olivia hesitated. He saw that Abel seemed to be very busy on the phone.
âNo trouble at all.â Abel shook his head and looked at Olivia. His tone was sincere. âIâve freed up my schedule these two days to serve you.â
âIsnât that gown on exhibit?â Olivia recalled that Abel had a gown named Angel which was on display.
âOh, youâre talking about Angel?â Abelâs expression was indifferent. âIt has 10:56]
Billionares Missing Darling been sold.â
âSold?â Olivia raised her eyebrows slightly in surprise.
Abel nodded. âAngel was specially designed for you. Since you donât need it, thereâs no point in exhibiting it.â
Abel sounded nonchalant as if he was talking about a piece of trash. Meanwhile, Emma was talking to Lola on the phone in her room. Her face was red and she was extremely excited. âLola, Lola, do you know? I bought the gown, Angel!â
Lola was lying on the bed, watching dramas listlessly. After hearing Emmaâs words, she sprang up and shouted in excitement. âWhat did you say? What did you say? Say it again. What did you buy?â
Emma took a deep breath and steadied her emotions. Her lips trembled slightly as she said, âAngel, Iâve bought Angel!â
âOh, my goodness!â Lola exclaimed. âWhere is it? Where is it? I want to see it and touch it.â
Lola pleaded, âEmma, my dear Emma, can you let me try it on? Just for a minute.â
Emma leaned against the sofa with a proud expression and paused for a moment before saying, âOkay, just one minute.â
âAh, ah!â There was another round of exclamations. Lola was exhilarated. âEmma, youâre so incredible and amazing. Angel is not for sale, right? I remember Abel saying that the gown is a gift from him to an angel. I canât believe he sold it not long after he said that.â
âI donât know.â Emma shook her head. Her eyes flickered as if she had thought of something happy.
She raised her chin slightly with a complacent expression. âPerhaps Abel thinks that I am an angel?â
The gown that no one else could buy was now in her possession.
The gown that an internationally renowned designer had said was designed for an angel would be worn by her.
Thinking about how she was going to knock everyoneâs sock off with the gown and attract envious or jealous gazes, Emma felt elated.
