Chapter 1534
Love After Marriage: Mr. Lancaster's Hidden Wife
Chapter 1534
Madam Stockton held Caprice in her arms by the table and fed the girl herself.
The girl was not picky but was a slow eater. Though the slower she ate, the more time Madam Stockton could spend with her.
Capriceâs adorable look when she chewed melted the old ladyâs heart and made her grin widen.
It was then that Julie came in. She wanted to have dinner with Madam Stockton and checked on her condition.
Given her understanding of Madam Stockton, the old lady must be sulking and refusing to have dinner. Maybe with a little more
push, she could urge the old lady to think of a way to chase Sherry out of the house tonight.
She came in with a grin, but when she heard Madam Stockton speaking happily and gently, she was stunned.
âGood girl, Caprice. Here, have more.â
Julieâs expression froze when she saw Caprice in Madam Stocktonâs arms.
âWhy is the girl here alone?! Why did John leave her here!?*
Before she could connect her questions to answers, Madam Stockton noticed her. Madam Stockton waved and said, âJulie,
come. Come and have dinner with us.â
Julie immediately swapped her shocked expression for a bright smile and went over. She asked, âMother, why is Caprice here?
Did John bring her here?â
Madam Stocktonâs gaze shifted. âIt wasnât John.â
âThen, who?â
Madam Stockton knew it was Sherry, but she refused to accept the fact. âCaprice missed me, so she came over by herself.â
Caprice missed her? Though it sounded absurd, it was the only explanation if John had not sent her over.
A quick thought later, Julie decided to play along.
âMother, look, | was saying earlier that you were overthinking, and now Caprice came over to see you. But does John know sheâs
here?â
âYeah. | told the servant to inform him.â
Madam Stockton simply came up with an excuse and continued to feed Caprice.
Caprice opened her mouth, ate the food, chewed, and swallowed it.
Madam Stockton was delighted.
Julie noticed that Madam Stocktonâs plate remained empty, so she said, âMother, why donât you have dinner first? I'll feed
Caprice.â
Madam Stockton immediately answered, âNo. You go ahead.â She had not had enough of holding Caprice.
Julie pursed her lips.
After dinner, Sherry had a glance at the time. She said to John, âCaprice should have finished eating. Go bring her back.â
John raised a brow. âYou are the one who sent her there. You go and pick her up.â
Sherry frowned. âYou haven't seen her for the entire meal. Donât miss her?â
When John stared at her sharply, her eyes flickered out of guilt. Indeed, she did not want to go to Madam Stocktonâs place.
If Madam Stockton refused to release Caprice back to her and insisted on taking her daughter away, a conflict would break out.
Amomentary silence later, John curled his lips. âIf you bed me, | might consider bringing Caprice back for you.â
âMaster Stockton, thatâs your daughter!â
John smiled. âSheâs at my motherâs place, not some strangerâs house.â He knew what she was thinking.
Sherry glared at him and went to the door. Before she headed out, she turned around and said, âMaster Stockton, donât say |
didnât warn you. If your mother and | fight, do not intervene or take sides.â
Johnâs lips twitched helplessly.
