Chapter 1442
Love After Marriage: Mr. Lancaster's Hidden Wife
Chapter 1442
Ayoung woman was berated and insulted by a group of people in public, including her own biological parents
who called her a thief. Even the ones she used to love and the father of her daughter refused to spare a glance at her.
No one would be able to tolerate such grief. She must be hiding somewhere to lick her own wounds.
Peter cautiously looked at John after he voiced his opinion.
The man opened his deep eyes with no focus on his pupils. He seemed to be in deep thought, but fortunately, he was not mad.
Peter sighed a breath of relief. In the next second, the manâs gruffly voice sounded, âDo you think | treated her poorly?â
Peter choked on the question.
How should he answer the question?
The man obviously resented Sherry for what she had done to him in the past.
If Peter said the man treated Sherry poorly, the man would probably be angry; if he lied about it, it seemed wrong as well.
John looked at Peter. âJust speak your mind. | wonât get mad at you.â
Peter felt relieved. âSir, aside from the unhappy past, | believe you've treated Ms. Fowler a little too harshly recently. Sheâs Ms.
Capriceâs biological mother after all, and haven't you been looking for her all this time? Now that she has come back, | believe
thereâs no reason for you to continue treating her poorly.â
John narrowed his eyes. âHow poorly did | treat her?â
Peter said in a small voice, âShe passed out in the snow once because of you, and when she was apprehended by security that
night, it was heartwrenching.â
âShe brought it upon herself.â
As Peter said, aside from the sour past, John had given her a chance two years ago, but she had insisted on abandoning him
and the child. He texted her often in the past two years, but she had not once replied to his texts.
Grievance choked him. Johnâs expression turned cold as he glared at Peter.
Peter instinctively took a step back. âSir, you said you wouldnât get mad...â
John closed his eyes again to suppress his emotions.
The room went quiet for a while.
Peter noticed his boss had no intention to continue the conversation anymore. He then said in a small voice, âSir, if thereâs
nothing else, I'll be leaving now.â
âWait.â John opened his eyes. A slightly gloomy expression lingered on his handsome face, but it was not a sign of him getting
mad.
Peter asked, âYes, sir?â John put on his glasses and looked at him indifferently. â How do you think | should treat her when | find
her later?â
Peter cautiously sized up the manâs expression to make sure the man would not get mad. âIf you want her to be Ms. Capriceâs
mother, why not treat her better? Try to bring her back to your side.â John narrowed his eyes, his gaze turned sharp.
Peter immediately said, âSir, it's just an opinion.â âWhat if she refuses to come back to me?â
Peter was slightly stunned. âI think Ms. Fowler is at her worst now. As long as you treat her better, she'll probably have a change
of heart.â
âIf | treat her better, and she still refuses to change her mind?â
Peter thought, âCan you not think so negatively?!â
He dared not make his thoughts verbal. A while later, he swapped his thoughts for something more appropriate. â | think you
shouldn't lock her up anymore. | believe she insisted on leaving you two years ago because she was afraid of being locked up.
John widened his eyes. âWhat did you say?!â
Peter took a few steps back and helplessly continued, You made me say it.â Annoyed, John rolled his eyes. âJust leave.â Peter
immediately strode out of the room.
