Chapter 1388
Love After Marriage: Mr. Lancaster's Hidden Wife
Chapter 1387
The car turned around and went back where it came from.
Just when it was about to leave the street, Sherry spotted something outside the window.
âStop.â
The driver pulled over immediately.
Sherry got out and headed to a nearby tree.
Shermaine noticed the car and the woman coming out of it. She lowered her cap and wanted to leave.
Sherryâs gaze turned cold. She strode forward, went in front of Shermaine, and stopped her from leaving.
Shermaine frowned. She said, âPlease move aside. You're in my way.â
Sherry got a good look at her face. âAre you Shermaine?â
Surprised, Shermaine carefully sized Sherry up and spotted multiple branded items on her, plus her bright and charming face.
She staggered and asked cautiously, Who are you?â
((
Sherry curled her lips. âI am Sylvia's friend, or you might know her as Mrs. Carter.â
Shermaineâs eyes flickered. She said, âI donât know you,
and | donât know any Mrs. Carter.â
âDon't be nervous. | am not a violent person, and | donât like beating someone elseâs mistress up. Anyway, you're not even a
mistress.â
Shermaineâs expression turned cold. âPlease mind your words.â
Sherry scoffed. âIf you want people to respect you, you need to respect yourself first, understand?â
Shermaine choked on her words. Anger took over and she bellowed, âMaster Carter and | like each other!â
Sherry was stunned. She was not surprised by the words but stunned by the blind confidence of the girl.
Amoment later, Sherry chuckled and said, âIf Odell likes someone like you, then | bet he likes to eat shit.â
Shermaine flushed, but she regained her composure and lifted her chin into a proud bearing. âI am not like other women. Master
Carter treats me differently. Donât even think about trying to get on my nerves with that poor choice of words.â
âI'm speaking the truth. I've seen a lot of women like you hundreds of years ago.â Sherry stepped forward and sized Shermaine
up from top to bottom. âOther than your little delicate face, nothing stands out, especially that brain of yours.â
Shermaine choked, her face flushed.
In addition to the impatience and annoyance of not
seeing Odell for the past two days, anger drove her over the line. She yelled, âYour friend is the one without a brain! She left the
house just to make him mad?! Does she even think Master Carter will want her back based on that?!â
Sherry narrowed her eyes. She suddenly felt an itch on her hands and had the urge to slap someone. Her hands unconsciously
curled.
Shermaine took Sherryâs silence as the first win of the battle. She scoffed and said, âMaster Carter is not just any man. Heâs the
owner of Carter Corporation. If that idiot woman uses this kind of cheap trick to make him mad, he will only hate her more. Even
if he doesnât leave her now, he will in the future!â
âSo, you think you're the big star here? The wisest person in the room?â
âOf course! | like Master Carter, | understand him! | am there for him when heâs busy and | won't cause a scene like that stupid
woman!â
Sherry chuckled.
Shermaineâs expression changed. âWhat are you laughing at?â
Sherry said, âI've seen idiots, but | have never seen idiots being so confident.â
Shermaine stared at her.
Sherry looked back and continued, âYou said you know him. You understand how he is when heâs busy and that he wonât cause
a scene. Thatâs what every maid and servant in the Cartersâ residence as well as his secretary and assistant do; itâs basic
requirements. Some of the maids are even more beautiful than you are, so what gives you the idea that you are better than
them?â
Shermaine argued, âIâm not the same! Iâm not a maid. Iâm... Iâm...â
She choked.
Sherry grinned. âWhat? A temporary secretary? Even the maids are paid higher than you!â
