Chapter 1348
Love After Marriage: Mr. Lancaster's Hidden Wife
Chapter 1348
John?
Odell frowned and asked, âWhy is he here?â
Shermaine replied, âHe said he came to talk to you about a project in Glanchester.â
Odell closed the file and said to her, âTell him to come in, and go make another pot of tea.â
âUnderstood.â
A few minutes later, the door was pushed open, and a young man in a suit walked in holding a two-year-old toddler.
The little girl was chubby and pink. As soon as she entered, she called out to him softly, âHello, Uncle!â
Odell smiled at her. âHello.â
John placed her on the ground.
Caprice immediately walked toward him with her little legs. She was not trying to hug Odellâs legs. She curiously walked behind
him, made a big round, and then continued to explore the rest of the office.
Johnâs gaze followed her for a while. âCaprice, tell Daddy
if you want anything. Donât try to get it yourself, or you might hurt yourself.â
The corners of Odellâs mouth twitched. Before John said the last sentence, he thought that John was trying to teach Caprice not
to take things that were not hers.
Caprice gave an obedient hum and continued to stroll about.
John sat down on the sofa.
Odell looked at him. âWhich project do you want to talk to me about?â They had cooperated on several projects in Glanchester
which were making good progress.
John replied, âNothing specific. | just came to tell you that the projects are going well.â
Odell gave him a cold look. This guy was obviously just here to loiter.
Just then, there was another knock on the door.
Odell said, âEnter.â
Shermaine walked in with tea. She first handed a cup to John and put another cup on Odellâs table, then turned around and
walked out.
John picked up the cup of tea as if he was about to drink it, but his eyes lingered on Shermaine. He only withdrew his gaze when
she walked out.
Odell noticed Johnâs gaze, and his eyes narrowed. He
asked with interest, âWhat? Are you interested in my secretary?â
John laughed. âYou've misunderstood. As I've said, Iâm not interested in her type.â
âThen, why are you staring at her?â
â| just thought she looks similar to your wife.â
Odell asked in confusion, âWhy are you mulling over that?â
âI'm not mulling over it.â John looked at him and curled his lips. âl was wondering if you kept her around as your secretary
because she looks like your wife, or your type just so happens to be like her and your wife.â
Odell frowned, and his expression sank. âSheâs my secretary because my previous secretary had to go home. for personal
affairs. | wasnât the one who brought her in either.â
John leaned back on the sofa lazily and said with a smile, | know she was recommended by your assistant, but you had to nod
your head and agree before she could become your secretary.â
((
Odell looked at him coldly. âDo you think Iâm interested in her?â
âThatâs not what | meant. Iâm just voicing my speculations as a bystander, and | shouldn't be the only one to think so. When I
came up, | met two of your
employees who were probably executives of your company. They were talking about your relationship with your secretary, and
they also lamented that you would have continued to torture them if your secretary hadnât helped them out.â
Finishing with a smile, he picked up the teacup and took a sip, then complimented, âThis tea is brewed really well.â
Odell gave him a cold look. âSave the theatrics and just tell me straight. Do you think Iâm interested in her?â
John smiled. âYes.â
âDid you see anything? Besides the gossip you heard when you came up, did you hear anything else?â
â| didnât see or hear anything. | just sense it.â
âWhy?â
âBecause whether itâs the way she looks or the way she dresses, itâs very similar to Sylvia. | donât know if she was born like this
or if sheâs deliberately imitating Sylvia.â
âSheâs not that kind of person.â
John laughed. âMaster Carter, | havenât said anything yet. Why are you in such a rush to defend her?â
