Chapter 1253
Love After Marriage: Mr. Lancaster's Hidden Wife
Chapter 1253 Odell leaned on the chair with his hands crossed and watched John eat casually.
Some time later, John finally put his cutlery down after he cleaned the plate. He wiped his mouth elegantly with the serviette and
smiled at the couple. âThank you for your hospitality, Master Carter and Mrs. Carter.â
âThen, can you please leave already?â Sylvia said.
John smiled. âI think my head is still spinning. | might have to bother you two for another night.â Sylvia sulked. She had never
seen someone who could conceal his lies with such elegance and nonchalance even though others knew that he was lying. No
wonder Sherry always called him a bastard.
While she was thinking about another way to chase the man out of the house, Odell held her hand. He smiled at John and said,
âSince you are feeling unwell, please stay for another night. I'll send someone to escort you back to Glenchester when you feel
better tomorrow.â
John maintained his elegant smile. âThank you.â
Odell then went upstairs with Sylvia whereas John went back to the guest room.
In the stillness of the night, John was unable to sleep. With the windows open, he leaned back on the bed and stared outside.
Awhile later, his phone rang.
âAny updates?â His assistant, Peter, answered meekly, âSir, we've utilized everything we could and we only found out the
location of that car that transported Ms. Fowler away. But when we got to the car, it was already abandoned. The vehicle was a
rental car from a second-hand dealer, and we are still identifying the person who rented the car.
âPlus, when the car was returned to the dealer, it was cleaned thoroughly with alcohol. No blood or traces were left. Based on
our speculation, they must have sent Ms. Fowler to the hospital right after they arrived in Westchester . We checked the lists of
deceased at every hospital in Westchester but did not spot Ms. Fowler's name. She's still alive.â
John simply hummed a reply. He knew Sherry was alive, just like Odell said. If something terrible had happened to her, Sylvia
would not have just asked him to leave with such subtle hostility.
A few seconds of silence later, he asked, âDid you find out where Isabel is? Odellâs daughter.â
âNo, sir. We haven't got anything on that.â
âKeep searching. Call me if anything happens.â
âYes, sir.â
The call ended. As he put the phone away, his eyes continued to stare outside the window.
Meanwhile, Odell and Sylvia were in their room.
Odell was showering in the bathroom, and Sylvia was on the line with Sherry on the bed. She told Sherry about John insisting on
staying for the night by pretending to be sick.
Sherry must be left speechless about the bastard's shamelessness. It took her a while to say, âSyl, just kick him out if he refuses
to leave tomorrow! You don't need to be courteous with him.â
Sylvia smiled. âOkay. What about Isabel? Is she giving you a hard time?â
âNo, no, my baby Isabel is the most adorable treasure in the world. She's been stuck with me the whole time.â
âGood to know. It's getting late. You'd better get some rest. When John leaves tomorrow, I'll go get you.â
âOkay.â
The call then ended.
Sylvia put the phone down and turned around to the
towering figure at the bathroom door. The man had finished showering and was staring at her with a mischievous grin and deep
gaze. Baffled by his reaction, she asked, âWhy are you looking at me like that?â
He smiled softly. âBecause | want to.â
Sylvia blushed. She closed her eyes and said, âIt's late. Go to sleep.â
Odell crawled into bed and hugged her from behind.
Just when Sylvia thought he was going to sleep without asking anything else, his lips moved closer to her ears and whispered,
âYou looked adorable when you were angry just now.â
