The Mute Alpha

[The Mute Alpha - Chapter 6]

Song: Stereo Hearts by Gym Class Heroes

"Are you sure you'll be fine?" Theo asked the tall man who stood at the front door of my house. His arms cross over his plaid button up shirt, the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, and watched Theo close the trunk of my car. He brushed his obsidian black hair away from his dark eyes.

"I'm sure," he assured us with a smile, "I'll call if there are any problems."

"Don't forget about the rogue outbreaks. They're getting worse every single day. And they can strike at any time. So be careful," Theo reminded him as he walked over to the passenger side of my black Acura NSX.

I waved at Ryland before going over to the driver's side. When I climbed into the car, Theo was already putting on his seatbelt on and his legs were propped up on the dashboard.

I glared at him. 'Feet down,' I ordered him. He was leaving dirt all over the place and I had just cleaned the inside. Theo stuck out his lower lip and pouted, but listened. I started the car, putting it in drive.

"So what's the first pack we're visiting?" Theo asked after a few minutes, the only sound we could hear was the motor of the car.

'The Midnight Pack,' I said, 'It is the closest pack to us from up north.' Theo nodded as he stared out the window.

The familiar trees passed by, soon changing the farther away we got from my pack.

"What are you going to do?" he asked softly, filling the silence. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion and I glanced at him. "When you find her..."

I stared at the road ahead of me, thinking. My grip tightened when I thought about it. I want to claim her, make up for what I didn't do. I want to ask her so many questions. I want to compliment her.

But I can't...

'I-I don't know...' I whispered, 'I want to talk to her...'

I could feel Theo's eyes on me, but I didn't look at him, keeping my gaze on the road. "Maybe..." Theo started, "you can."

My eyes narrowed. 'You are not talking to her for me,' I gritted out. I want to communicate with her myself. Him helping me with other wolves is one thing, but helping me my mate, I will do it myself.

Theo sunk back into his chair with a frown and mumbled, "Well what are you going to do then?" I stayed silent.

Honestly...I don't know. I don't even know if she's going to except me. She might reject me. My wolf reminded of what her expression was when she first saw us. Shocked and awestruck. And then her trembling form under our touch. But after leaving her, I'm not so sure she'll feel like that again. She's probably going to be very mad at me.

And I don't blame her.

Leaning my head back against the headrest, I sucked in a deep breath. My grip on the steering wheel tightened even more. Damn. How can one girl I don't even know have such an effect on me?

We reached the border of the pack after an hour of driving. Unlike the Crystal Mountain Pack, they didn't have a gated entrance. And their climate was similar to my pack's. Except their trees were a little different and there were very few palm trees. At my pack, there are a ton of them. Especially near the beach.

Even though they didn't have a gate, they did, however, have men patrolling the borders. It doesn't surprise me. Those rogues are everywhere.

At the sound of the tires rolling against the asphalt, the men turned their attention to me, becoming slightly alert. One of them slowly approached us, eyes narrowed. He knocked on my window, the other hand reaching for something in his back pocket.

When he saw my face, recognition flashed across his face. "Alpha Jaxton," he mumbled while giving me a bow. I've been here many times before, but by the looks of it, the Alpha must've gotten himself new guards.

I wonder what happened to the other ones.

"What brings you here?" the man asked curiously, pulling his hand away from his pocket and relaxing a bit.

"He needs to speak to your Alpha," Theo answered for me. The guard nodded before stepping away from the car.

"He's at his house," he said. I glanced at Theo before driving forward, heading towards the Alpha's familiar estate.

This pack is definitely a whole lot bigger than mine. Many people walked and lingered around the streets. They were all wearing a little bit warmer clothes than my pack members. The she-wolves wore capris, pants, and dresses with shirts. The men had on cargo shorts and pants, all of them wearing shirts. They are definitely more modest. But at my pack it's way hotter than this, especially during the summer. We don't experience the winters, autumns, and springs they get here, our's is usually just mild.

"These girls aren't at hot as the ones back at home," Theo pouted as he stared at a group of girls who walked out of a store holding a ton of shopping bags. "They need to show off more of their delicious skin. I bet they'd look sexy if-"

I punched his shoulder, causing him to yelp. "Ow!" he shrieked, "What was that for?"

'Behave,' I ordered him, 'Stop being a pervert. This isn't our pack.' Theo mumbled something under his breath before continuing to eye rape the girls.

The streets seemed busy. Many people going in to and out of shops and restaurants. Some of them sent a curious glances, but most of them didn't really care.

We turned onto another street that wasn't crowded. I could already see the Alpha's home in front of us. It looked as nice as I remembered. It was pretty big compared to my own, but his was a little more fancy while mine was more modern. His looked quite expensive.

The lawn was kept clean. The grass was green, like it was exposed to a lot of rain, and looked as if it was just recently cut. The driveway and the path to the front door was made from cobblestone.

The building was three stories, made from brick and off-white siding. The door matched the color of the siding as well as the columns that held up the roof over the porch. Two windows were placed on both sides of the door and a large window above it.

Rocks of different shapes and sizes lined the pathway along with different bushes. Many colorful flowers decorated the front yard over close to the foundation of the house. A large cherry blossom tree stood there as well, making the yard look ever more beautiful.

"Damn," I heard Theo mutter as he stared at the house in awe, "I forgot how beautiful this house was."

I parked my car along the curb and both of us climbed out. We made our way to the front door using the cobblestone path. When we got to the door, I rang the doorbell.

Rustling sounded from inside before the door swung open. Confused violet eyes stared back at us. The girl standing in front of us was wrapped up in a blanket and her dark hair looked a little messy. Her cheeks were flushed too.

Her eyes widened when she recognized us and a smile broke out onto her face. "Jaxton! Theo!" she exclaimed, "What are you guys doing here?"

From the many times we've been here, we've become really good friends with both the Alpha and his mate.

"We're here for Anthony," Theo responded.

She nodded as she took a step back and motioned for us to come inside, "Come in." We listened and followed her into the house. She closed the door behind us.

"Who was that, Baby?" a deep voice asked, the padding of feet against the hard wood floor following after. Both Theo and I widened our eyes, when we saw Anthony coming into the room completely naked.

"Shit!" he quickly left the room muttering a string of curse words.

Malia's cheeks were flaming red when she saw our shocked faces. She stared at the floor, her dark hair falling in front of her face. "I-I'm so sorry," she said shyly, "We weren't expecting guests..."

Theo chuckled in amusement. "That's fine," he replied.

"Just make yourself at home. I'll be back in a couple minutes" She quickly left the room, going in the same direction Anthony did.

Theo and I walked into the living room, sitting on the white leather couch. The walls were painted a cream color and the floor was wood, a big fuzzy white rug placed in the center of the room. A marble coffee table was in front of the couch.

An armchair that matched the couch stood in the corner of the room, also facing the large television. A couple paintings decorated the plain walls with a few windows.

Anthony came striding into the room with Malia following behind him. He sat down on the armchair, grabbing Malia by the waist and pulled her down onto his lap. Her cheeks turned red. "So," Anthony spoke out, "What brings you guys here?"

Theo looked at me for confirmation and when I nodded, he began talking, "Jax found his mate at the Crystal Mountain party."

Anthony and Malia's eyes widened in shock. "That's awesome!" Malia squealed.

Anthony cheered, "Congrats man!"

I felt the corners of my mouth tug up into a smile. "He doesn't know who she is or what pack she's from," Theo continued. Anthony leaned back in his seat, pulling Malia closer to him. She didn't lean back into him like he had hoped. Instead, she sat up in excitement as she listened to what Theo was saying.

"Jax wants to search every single pack that attended the party. He's hoping that he'll find her. And he won't stop until he does."

Anthony stared at me for a few seconds. "Hmm...I see," he mumbled in thought, "I'll help you." A big smile broke out onto my face. "I'll go gather all of the unmated she-wolves and I'll let you look at all of them."

'Tell him I said "thank you",' I told Theo. He did what I asked and told him for me. Anthony smiled at me before leaving the room.

"Do you feel anything?" Theo asked me. I looked around. About 2,000 girls surrounded us. They were chattering to each other. Their girlish giggles echoed and insufferable perfume filled the air, making it hard to breath.

My stomach didn't feel weird like it did that night. My body ached when I realized that she wasn't here.

'Yeah,' I muttered, 'claustrophobic.' Many girls were eyeing us, whispering to each other while staring and then giggling about it. Some of them curled their hair around their fingers and licked their lips.

"I'm definitely feeling something," Theo smirked as he glanced down. I rolled my eyes at him. "What? We're surrounded by hundreds of girls. Who are, in fact, available and unmated. Don't you feel a tad bit horny?"

'I'm looking for my mate,' I deadpanned.

Theo noticed a girl with fiery red hair and smoky grey eyes staring at him with a flirtatious grin. She dragged her hand down his arm while batting her eyelashes. "Hey," Theo smirked. She giggled in response. I rolled my eyes again and released a frustrated groan. Why is Theo so thirsty?

'Let's go,' I said, 'She's not here.' Theo frowned when he heard my voice in his head.

"Fine," Theo groaned, stressing the 'i'. Then he mumbled something about me not being fun. I just ignored his immaturity.

We pushed our way through the crowd and went over to where Anthony and Malia were standing.

"There are many things I can do to you," I heard Anthony tell Malia as he tightened his hold on her waist and pulled her close, "Many." Her cheeks turned red but she smirked.

"We'll just have to find out."

Theo awkwardly cleared his throat, making them jump slightly and quickly look up at us. I stood there awkwardly, everyone doing the same.

"No luck?" Anthony suddenly asked when he noticed the frown on my face. I shook my head. "Aw," Malia sent me a sympathetic look, "I'm sure you'll find her soon."

Her assurance didn't make me feel any better. But I tried to show her that her words did by sending her a small, toothless smile with a nod.

I felt a hand on my shoulder and I turned my head and saw Theo staring at me. "It's okay, man. We still have like 20 more packs to visit." I sighed.

"Good luck!" Malia said as she came forward and hugged me, kissing my cheek in the process. "When you do find her, bring her here. I want to meet her." I nodded, hugging her back.

As Theo and I started walking back to the car, I heard Anthony call out, "Have a safe trip!"

Silence consumed us as we got back to the car and I started it up. As we were driving down the street, we passed the Alpha and Luna, waving at us. We waved back. Soon they disappeared around the corner as we drove farther away.

I drove back onto the main road, heading off to the next pack.
