The car ride home was painful and endless. Everything around me was dark except for the head lights ahead of the car and the lights from the radio and the dashboard. I gripped the steering wheel tightly, my knuckles turning white. My jaw was clenched and my eyes sent a death glare to the long road ahead.
My mate wouldn't get out of my head. Her eyes. Her lips. Her face. Her hair. Her body. Her scent. It wouldn't go away.
The music on the radio was blasting through the speakers, trying to get her off my mind but failing. I could still feel her body pressed against mine, arms around my neck, her sweet scent suffocating me.
Just the idea of her has my friend from down below stiff. Taking a deep breath, I tried to calm myself down. I don't even know the girl.
But she is my mate...
Sighing, I turned my attention back to the road. Focus, I tell myself.

When I reached home, it was way passed midnight. In fact, it was pretty close to dawn. Like four o'clock. My eyes lids were attempting to close, but I didn't let them. Suppressing a yawn, I turned the car off and pulled the keys out of the ignition. I got out of the car and walked to the front door.
When I entered, I was surprised to see Theo's sleeping form on the couch. His left leg was propped up on the back of the couch with his right leg dangling off the edge. His mouth was hanging open as he snored loudly, mumbling some incoherent words after. The light from the T.V. glared on his face and lit up the room.
I walked over to the coffee table and picked up the remote, turning the T.V. off.
Suddenly Theo sat up, eyes wide. His head snapped to me. "You startled me," he muttered while holding his hand to his chest and using the other hand to wipe off the dry saliva he had by his mouth.
I rolled my eyes but allowed my lips to tug up into a small, tired smile. He's always overdramatic. It can be refreshing sometimes. But not all the time.
He settled back down on the couch, but kept his eyes on me. "So...how was the party?" he asked. He asks me this every year. I usually give him the same answer every time, but today my answer is different.
I went over to the small leather arm chair and sat down, staring out one of the windows, the dark forest looking inviting. Images of my mate appeared in my mind again.
'I found my mate,' I replied, anticipating his reaction. He sat there for a few seconds, processing the information I just gave him. Then his jaw dropped and his eyes widened.
"You found your mate?" he shouted, making me wince.
I slowly nodded. He jumped up from the couch and rushed over to me, a wide grin on his face. "This is perfect! You need a luna. A mate. Someone to help me with you!" The last part I knew was a joke. Both he and I knew he had no problem with helping me. Since we're practically brothers.
"Well, what was she like?" he asked, staring at me expectantly.
'Breathtaking,' I breathed out, 'Her eyes, I can just stare at them for hours. They're endless. Hypnotizing. Her lips were perfect. They looked so kissable. Teasing me. Her tan skin looked so clear and it felt so smooth under my fingertips. The skin on her cheeks turned red, like a strawberry, when I caught her staring,' Theo listened intently.
'Her body,' I growled, remembering it, ' So beautiful. It felt so nice to hold her against me when we were dancing. Then her scent... So sweet. Smelled like salted caramel. It was mouthwatering. When she talked, she sounded like an angel. Her voice was sweet and smooth, like honey. I would love to hear her voice every day. Every hour. Every minute. And every second.'
I sighed. 'It was so tempting to just mark her right then and there. That was the effect she had on me and she didn't even know. But I had to hold back,' I frowned and ran my fingers through my hair, 'You should've seen her face when I didn't say anything to her. I couldn't. Her eyes, they looked sad and disappointed. I could tell this wasn't how she wanted to ever meet her mate. It pains me to know that I was the one to cause her to feel like that.'
Theo sat up straighter as he looked at me sympathetically. "She sounds like the perfect mate," he whispered to me, "You're one lucky Alpha. I wish I can find my mate."
I nodded. 'I don't know how I'm ever going to be able to find her...' I mumbled, feeling my fingers ball up into fists. I don't know her name or what pack she's from.
"Well, do you at least know her name?" he asked. I shook my head. "How about her pack?" When I shook my head again, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "Well why the hell not?"
'Well it's not like I could've asked,' I gritted out with a growl. I could already feel my frustration surfacing.
"Well the first thing she should've said was her name!" he exclaimed.
'The first thing she said was "Who are you",' I told him. Theo sat back down on the couch, muttering an 'oh'. We sat in silence for a few minutes.
Theo started getting up and again. "I don't know how you're expecting to see her again. There's no way for you to." He's right. I don't know how I will be able to find her again. If I ever see her again...
My wolf growled at my negativity. My jaw clenched. Theo noticed my frustration. "Maybe you should go blow off some steam," he motioned down the hallway, "and then get some rest. I can take care of any pack business in the morning. We can figure this out later."
He left my house as I moved down the dark hallway.

Beads of sweat rolled down my face and neck, drenching the top of my shirt, making it cling to my body. Dry blood stained my knuckles and bruises were forming, but I didn't care. The ends of my hair stuck to my forehead and I released heavy breaths.
My feet carried me up the stairs to my room. Taking my shirt off, I tossed it into the hamper before going into my bathroom and turning the shower on. I finished taking my clothes off before stepping into the shower, allowing the cold water to wash off all of the sweat.
I felt a little less frustrated than before, but she was still the only thing on my mind.
Leaning against the shower wall, I began to remember dancing with her. The feeling. The memory I'll never forget.
I've never felt this way before. My mind usually can think about multiple things but this girl, has me tied down and I don't even know her. I can't escape.
I knew I wasn't going to be able to sleep knowing that she was out there. Somewhere.
I wonder what she's doing. Probably sleeping.
Sleep was definitely not on my mind, so as I stood in the shower, my eyes were no longer drooping like before. I woke myself up and the cold water helped too.
I don't know how long I was in the shower, just thinking. When I stepped out, I wrapped my towel around my waist. Water droplets dripped from the strands of my hair. Walking into my room, I went over to my closet and picked out a random pair of boxers and sweatpants and slid them on.
By the time I finished brushing my teeth, the sun was already peaking over the horizon.
Ignoring my bed completely, I left the room and went downstairs to the kitchen, grabbing a granola bar.
The next few hours I spent in my office working on pack business. Nothing entertaining. By the time Theo came in, my eyes were drooping. My body wasn't as wide awake as earlier. Stress was eating me alive. Most likely because of the separation between my mate and I.
I kept trying to come up with ways on how I could find her.
Theo closed the door behind him and came over to sit on one of the leather chairs in front of my large mahogany desk. He eyed the papers that were scattered all over the top of the desk. Then he saw my tired eyes.
"You need to take a break," he told me, "You don't look so good." I sighed.
"Did you even sleep?" he asked with a raised eyebrow. I ignored his question and continued to shift through the piles of paper.
"We really need to find that mate of your's..." Theo said when he saw the state I was in, "But it's nearly impossible since we have no idea where she is..."
I stopped what I was doing. I do know she's a part of one of the packs located on the East Coast. So maybe I can check each pack to see if she's there until I find her.
'I have an idea,' I spoke out. I stood up from my chair and walked over to the window that gave me a view of the forest by my house. The trees casted shadows on the ground as the sun shone down on them. A few fluffy white clouds decorated the sky. 'It may not be the smartest and it might take a while...' I began. I glanced at Theo.
"Let's here it." Theo urged me to continue, sitting at the edge of his seat.
I looked back out the window. 'Well, I was thinking that I could visit each pack here on the East Coast. The ones who attended the gathering. I would request to see all of the unmated she-wolves. If she's not there, I will move onto the next pack.'
Theo sat there quietly, thinking over my idea. "You're right, that would take forever..." he mumbled, "But at least it is a plan. And I think you should do it."
I turned away from the window. 'I think you should come with me. I could really use your help.'
Theo stood up from his chair and came over to stand in front of me. He placed his hand on my shoulder and gave it a squeeze. "Of course I'll help you," he grinned, "But who would watch over the pack while we are gone?"
I thought for a moment. My gamma is pretty good. He is really smart and he's strong too. He's a good protector. 'Ryland can do it. He has the ability,' I responded.
Theo nodded, agreeing with my words. "Alright. I'll go inform him right away. You should probably get a little rest and pack up. This is going to be a long trip." Then he left the room, leaving the door open behind him.
My lips slowly pulled up into a smile.
I'm coming for you, Mate...
