THE LETTER

It's been a month, and 6 days since I left brooks premises, and haven't heard from the school, we will told they will give us feed back within 3weeks after writing the exams, a week and six days has past from the original fixed date, and still no news from them.

I am becoming worried because this will be my chance for a bright future for myself and mother's. Mother have been taken care of me since I was 13 and now I took a step towards rewarding her for all her efforts, it seems to be blown away.

Today is Saturday, mother doesn't go to work on Saturdays, and a day like this, she bakes. She may seem very calm but I know she is worried and trying to hide it a way from me to give me hope.

"Mother, what are you baking?"

"Cup cakes honey, so have you heard from the university?"

"No mother, not yet."

"Don't give up, just not yet."

"I assisted mother in her baking since she still insisted I learn how to cook."

I was Washing the dishes when my phone began to ring. I quickly wiped my palms on the apron and rushed to pick it up, when Sofia joyous voice sounded into my ear.

"Hello Oma, you can't believe the letter I received from my mum just now".

"Sofia, did you get accepted?"

"Yes I did, Oma I did, I am officially I student. Go check you mail box, let me call Ronny."

"Ok Sofia, am so happy for you."

Sofia hung the call and ran past mother, who asked me where I was running to.

"Isi where are running to, what's wrong"

"Nothing mother, let me check the mail box."

When I got to mail box, I who was running to open it, is now starring at it like a lost puppy. I became so nervous to open it, I was scared to see what's inside the box.

I stood there till mother came beside me, took the key from me and open it, and inside it, was the letter that holds the key to my education.

Mother brought it out and handed it to me, when we got inside the house she patted my back and asked me to go ahead and open it, that even if I don't get accepted she would take a loan next year to send me to a cheaper school.

Mother left me in the sitting room and want to the kitchen, I held the letter until I gathered enough courage to open it and what I saw writhing there brought tear to my eyes and scream out from my lungs to made mother rush towards me.

YOU HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED INTO BROOKS UNIVERSITY

It was writing capitalized boldly well on the second line of the later

I was so happy, I was speechless I was in a trance, mum came to were I stood and gave me a hug, she thought I wasn't accepted.

"Mother, am a student, not just a student, a student in brooks university mum, brooks university, mum I got accepted."

"Oh baby, am so happy, am happy for you, and for myself. You called me mum, baby you called me mum and not mother. Can you call me that again?"

"Yes I can, not only now, but from today i will call you mum, now I believe I can take care of mum in nearest future."

Mum brought out the cake and wine to celebrate the good need, I excuse myself from mum as I want to give the good news to my friends and I got to know that Ronny was also accepted. It seems the luck lady paid a us a visit.
