PROPOSAL PART TWO-9♡
YEH LAMHA ✅
"Well, that's all fine, but where have you gone? I had already informed you that we had to go and meet her today for your marriage proposal. How can you be this careless?" Rekha scolded Aahan over the phone.
"Rekha, calm down, let him explain. There's something really important, that's why he returned to Mumbai. Otherwise, he wouldn't want to upset you," Ajay said, trying to calm his wife. "Yes, Mom, I'm really sorry. You know about our huge project with the Malhotra Industries. I didn't get a chance to inform you about my return. Please forgive me," Aahan said in a rushed tone, trying to appease his mother.
Aahan understood that he would have to get married someday, but how could he forget his Ms. Savior? He couldn't just forget her so easily. He had finally found her after so many years, so there was no way he was going to marry someone else.
"Mom, I'm not going to marry just anyone, you already know that. How can I marry someone I don't even like?" Aahan complained irritably.
"Do you still like her?" his mother asked calmly.
"If I say yes, will you end this whole proposal thing?" he questioned.
"No, I will not, and that's final. I've already met that girl, and I know you'll like her. I simply didn't consult you because I didn't want to disappoint her family by saying their future son-in-law hasn't arrived yet. Otherwise, I wouldn't have needed to call you," his mother exclaimed angrily and hung up the phone.
"Rekha, why didn't you tell him about her? She's the same girl he's been searching for for the past 4 years," Aahan's father asked his wife, clearly confused.
"Because that's his surprise, and we wanted to talk to Srishti first. If she agrees to the marriage, he'll find out about the surprise himself," Aahan's mother exclaimed with excitement.
AAHAN POV
"Dammit, what the hell is going on? I just found my Ms. Savior yesterday, and today this proposal thing is happening. No, this can't happen. How can I marry someone else? I'll have to make my mom understand," Aahan said as he dialed his mother's phone number, but it was clear that no one was picking up, or you could say she didn't want to pick up.
Someone knocked on his door.
"Sir, Mr. Malhotra has arrived," Kabir stated as he entered his office.
"Well, tell them to wait in the conference room. I'm coming," Aahan replied, attempting to call his mother once again.
Throughout the meeting, Aahan was distracted, thinking about something or someone. His mind was consumed with the thought, "How can I marry someone else?" He needed to do something about it.
After the conference, he tried contacting his entire family, but no one answered. This clearly frustrated him.
As he dialed his brother's number, someone picked up after two rings, and Aahan took a deep breath before venting his anger.
"Why aren't they answering my calls, Aditya? You know I can't marry just anyone; I already have someone. How can they do this to me?" Aahan started to say.
"Uncle, it's me, Abhi. Why are you scolding me?" Abhi said, sounding scared.
"Abhi, not you, I'm not scolding you," Aahan stated nervously.
"And what about the marriage? Are you ang-" Before he could finish his sentence, the call got disconnected, leaving Aahan confused and frustrated.
SRISHTI POV
"Saru, where are you? I told you to come quickly. Where are you?" Srishi's mother inquired in an angry tone, as some guests were expected today, and Srishi's presence was essential.
"Mom, I'm really sorry. We've been busy with intern work and presentations for the past two days. I'm still at the hospital. I'll leave here in a little while. Mom, please don't be angry," Srishti said in a soothing tone.
"Well, alright. Hurry up and come. We're waiting for you. You can enter through the back door and change quickly downstairs," her mother added.
"Okay, I'll try to be there soon," Srishti replied before hanging up the phone.
"Srishti, what happened?" Isha, Srishti's friend, asked.
"Nothing, some guests are coming," she muttered, returning her attention to her work.
"Okay, then you go. We'll submit this presentation tomorrow," her friend suggested.
"Isha, you know we have a lot of work, and when it comes to the presentation, if you wanted to, you could have submitted it today. I sent you the copy," Srishti complained.
Isha and Srishti became friends in their third year of medical school because they shared similar goals and beliefs. Occasionally, Isha annoyed her with her continuous questions like, "Have you finished the work? Have you completed the presentation? What is your topic?" and many more. But because they both shared the same aspirations, Srishti didn't mind her never-ending queries. Plus, Isha was a great person.
Finally, after an hour, Srishti was able to go home. When she arrived home, the first thing she noticed was a car that wasn't usually there. The second thing she noticed was that there were already visitors, so she quickly entered through the back door, changed into a simple palazzo suit, and then made her way downstairs.
"Srishti," her mother called from the drawing room as she saw her daughter coming down the stairs.
When her family and guests saw her, they all smiled broadly. Why are they making me nervous?
"Meet my daughter Srishti, Rekha ji," her mother introduced.
"Namaste," I greeted them with folded hands.
"Namaste, dear," she replied. "We've already met before, Neelam ji."
"Srishti, this is Rekha Oberoi, your soon-to-be mother-in-law," her mother said, smiling broadly.
She looks lovely.
"Nice to meet you, Aunty ji," I introduced myself.
"Don't call me aunty anymore; from now on, you're like my daughter," she teased, "and meet Sarika and Aditya, my eldest son and his wife." I already knew Sarika di, so I simply smiled politely at them, and they both responded.
"And now for-"
"And I'm Abhi. You already know me, Angel," Abhi interrupted with a grin.
Abhi's presence? Why is Abhi here? What a silly question, Saru. He's here because this is his family, and look, his mother Sarika di is also here. My conscious mind taunted me, but I ignored it and smiled at him with a small nod.
"Yes, but Bua is ours," the person who spoke replied, and that's my Devu in full possessive mode, which made all of us chuckle.
Okay, this family seems nice. But where is the man I'm marrying, and who is he?
"I know what you're thinking, dear, but Aahan had a very important meeting, which is why he couldn't make it," his father explained.
Aahan? That psycho I'm marrying? Don't get me wrong; he was good-looking, well, extremely attractive, but I can't do anything about it. He's the decision of my family, and Mom and Dad both have big smiles on their faces since I entered the room. I don't want to make them sad.
But this is your life. How can you just accept this proposal? My conscience questioned me again. And my answer, well, they are happy and know me better than anyone else, so how can I not trust my parents?
But again, why isn't he here? Am I the only one getting married? He's the groom; he should have come.
"Dadi, look, Chachu is calling; we can talk to him," Abhi said, interrupting my thoughts.
Everyone in his family looked nervous as he picked up his phone. Why? Did something happen?
"Chachu, it's us. Why were you scolding us?" Abhi muttered, sounding scared.
What exactly happened? Why is he so frightened? Is my soon-to-be husband a scary one?
He paused again before saying, "And what about the marriage? Do you like Angel?"
That psycho person, a little bit handsome psycho. Again, my conscience corrected me.
Okay, okay, but what? Does it mean he likes me? Okay, Srishti, breathe. Don't hold your breath continuously. There could be a misunderstanding.
They continued talking about us without our involvement in the conversation.
Srishti and Aahan, that sounds nice, I thought to myself.
His mother approached me and kissed my forehead, saying, "I am fortunate to have a daughter-in-law like you. And don't worry, Aahan is a really sweet person." I just nodded and blushed as his name escaped her lips.
"Someone's blushing," Bhabhi joked. Oh, how embarrassing.
Everyone in the room chuckled at Bhabhi's remark, and as the Oberois prepared to leave, his father approached me and patted my head.
"Don't worry, it's okay. Aahan is a pretty good person, and your parents have already informed us about your profession and studies, so it's not a problem. You can do whatever you want after marriage," he said, and his wife, I mean my soon-to-be mother-in-law, continued. "Stay blessed, and Pandit Ji has given us some dates when you can call Aahan and discuss with him, okay?" she said, and I simply nodded with a joyful smile on my face, especially because of the study issue. I was about to touch her feet when she pulled back and hugged me...
My family was full of teasing after the Oberois went. and Aunty gave another cause for my family. which was she going to ask him to call me Oh, this is going to be a long day, and I'm already exhausted. All I want now is my bed, my lovely bed. Oh my God, I need to sleep.
As I went to my room, I received a message saying that she had given him my phone number and that he would call me shortly. Oh my goodness, this is making me nervous. I'm not sure why, but what will I say to him, Mahadev help me.
