AT FUNCTION

Aahan Pov

"Did you call me, Mom?" Aahan said as he entered the room.

"Well, we were discussing something," his mother began, glancing at her husband as if asking for his approval, and he simply nodded.

"We were thinking about your marriage," his mother added solemnly.

"Mom, here too? Let the person getting married think about it. Don't drag me into this topic."

"Well, Krish is 26 now, and he's going to be a married man today, and look at you," his mother said as she looked at him.

"Ah, Mom, I know, but I'm only 28," he remarked as he sat on a sofa with his father.

"So what? Are you never going to get married?" his father asked with frustration, which left Aahan silent as he thought about Srishti. He liked her and didn't want to forget her, so how could he marry someone else?

"I will, Dad, but not right now. It's too soon for that," he added as he made his way to the door.

"Rekha, this lazy fellow won't do anything. We'll have to do something about it. He's already 28," his father replied. In response, Rekha just nodded and followed her son out of the room.

As she was leaving, someone bumped into her.

"Oh, auntie, I'm so sorry. Are you okay? I didn't see you, and I hope I didn't hurt you," a panicked girl said.

"Yes, I'm fine. It's alright," Rekha replied, looking at the girl, who was undeniably beautiful. "I was actually looking for Aahan, but I found someone else. She's so lovely."

"I'm reall-" the girl tried to say, but Rekha interrupted her in the middle of her sentence.

"It's okay," Rekha replied, patting her head with a blessing smile.

As the girl left after making sure Rekha was okay, Rekha headed towards the function and noticed that her son was constantly glancing in a certain direction.

Seeing what he was looking at, she became puzzled because he was staring at the fading figure of Srishti.

"She's beautiful, isn't she?" Rekha said mockingly.

He merely mumbled, lost in his daydream.

"Why don't you talk to her about your marriage?" Rekha asked, her eyes fixed on her son.

"Wha-what? I was just looking at her, Mom," he stammered, realizing that something was amiss.

"Sure, sure," she said, and he blushed.

SRISHTI POV

As she sat with her sister-in-law.

"Sister-in-law, how much longer will we stay here?" she asked, scrolling through her phone.

"Why, what's wrong?" her sister-in-law inquired, gazing at her.

"This wedding is quite dull. Look, there's no music, and forget about dancing," she complained, to which her sister-in-law simply chuckled.

"Well, maybe you can fulfill your dance dreams at your own wedding," her sister-in-law joked.

"Oh, sister-in-law, please don't talk like my mom," she chuckled, but then a cute voice called her.

"Angel, are you here? I've been looking for you," Abhi said, holding Srishti's hand.

"So, I was looking for Abhi, and Abhi was looking for me," Srishti pouted, making both Kritika and Abhi giggle.

"Today, we're dressed alike," Abhi observed, noticing their similar outfits.

"Yeah, Abhi, same pinch!" she exclaimed playfully, mimicking a child's gesture.

"Even my uncle looks similar today. We should pinch him too," Abhi added, scanning the crowd for his uncle.

"Sure, let's call him over and give him a 'same pinch' too," she laughed.

"Uncle, come here!" Abhi called out, glancing in the direction of Srishti's back.

When she turned to face his uncle, her gaze met the captivating dark brown eyes of Aahan. He was extremely handsome.

"Why do those eyes seem so familiar?" She shook her head, dismissing the thought to avoid overthinking.

"Did you call me?" Aahan said

"angel said she wanted to give you a 'same pinch,'" Abhi explained, pointing at Srishti.

"Angel?" Aahan questioned, acting as if he had no idea, in response to Srishti's uncomfortable chuckle.

"No, I'm Srishti," she replied, extending her hand for a handshake.

"Aahan, great to meet you," he remarked, making eye contact with her.

She felt a jolt as their hands touched, and she quickly withdrew her hand, wearing a puzzled expression. She had no clue that Aahan had felt the same electric sensation as her. But she brushed it off with a smile, showing both her dimples.

AUTHOR POV

"Come on, let's all go dance," Devika declared, giving Abhi and Aahan the 'don't get too close to my bua' look.

"Alright then, this is all I need," Srishti remarked, standing up, which made her bhabhi laugh.

"Bhabhi, you come too, and Abhi, you come as well," she suggested, completely forgetting about Aahan.

"Ahem, ahem," Aahan began to cough while glancing at Abhi, confusing the young boy.

"What happened, Chachu?" Abhi asked, looking at his chachu.

"Are you alright?" Srishti inquired in her soothing voice that felt like honey to Aahan's ears.

"Maybe he wants to dance too," Devika added, puzzling Srishti.

"No, it's not like that. It's just that... well, because of the dust and allergies, you know. And today, all the functions are outdoors," Aahan explained, rubbing his nose. As we all know, this was a clear lie.

"Come on, Bua, Mommy, please," Devika begged as she dragged the two ladies to the dance floor.

On the dance floor, several children and family members were already dancing. When they reached the stage, they just started dancing to their own tunes, unaware of who was watching them and who was not.

"Now who is he looking at? Tell me," Aahan's mother asked, glancing at her son.

As soon as Aahan heard his mother's voice, he began to stutter once more. "Well, I, uh... I was looking at Abhi. I mean, who is he talking to?" he mumbled, ignoring his mother's words.

"Then who is standing next to you? Yes, Abhi," Aahan's mother inquired when she noticed that Abhi was still nearby and also gazing in Aahan's direction.

"Aahan, are you lying to me?" his mother asked, raising her right eyebrow.

"Mom, it's nothing," Aahan replied genuinely and then moved away.

"It's nothing, huh? You seem to have a lot on your mind, Aahan. I am your mother; I know you very well," his mother teased with a smirk.

"Have you had breakfast, Abhi?" Aahan's grandmother asked, rubbing Abhi's head.

"No, Grandma, I was waiting for Angel, but she hasn't come yet," Abhi pouted.

"Angel?" his grandmother wondered.

"She's beautiful, isn't she? Look, she's dancing over there with her bhabhi," Abhi said, pointing at Srishti, who was engaged in a couple's dance with her sister-in-law.

"So, you like her too," Aahan's mother chuckled, observing the situation.

AT NIGHT

WEDDING TIME

Aahan couldn't help but keep an eye on Srishti, but this time, he was being cautious; his family members were quite observant, and he didn't want to get caught snooping around.

He kept moving around the lobby, hoping to catch a glimpse of Srishti. He couldn't stop himself from wanting to see what she was doing and how she was dressed. After waiting for four long years, he couldn't afford to lose her again. (billionaire ko bhi kya kya karna padta hai haye ram)

His phone started ringing while he was lost in his thoughts.

"Hello, sir," Aahan replied with a hum, and the person on the other end continued, "Sir, I am calling from Malhotra Company, and Mr. Ayush Malhotra would like to speak with you. May I put him through?" a woman's voice inquired.

"Sure," Aahan replied in a professional tone.

"Hello, Mr. Oberoi, how are you?" Mr. Malhotra greeted.

"I'm fine, Mr. Malhotra. Is there any issue with our project?" Aahan asked.

"Very direct, Mr. Oberoi, but there's no problem. I simply wish to meet with you on Tuesday. Are you available?" Mr. Malhotra inquired.

"Ah, Mr. Malhotra, unfortunately, I am not in Mumbai right now, and I believe it will take me 4 to 5 days to return. So, let's plan to meet in a week. However, if there's any serious issue, please don't hesitate to call me," Aahan instructed, as he was a well-known businessman with a respected reputation in the business world.

"Well, Mr. Oberoi, as you suggest, I will send you an email with the details after checking my schedule." Aahan simply hummed in acknowledgment and ended the call.

During his phone conversation, he hadn't realized that he was standing in front of Srishti's room. Before he could think further and make a hasty retreat, the door unlocked, and there she stood, looking at him with a puzzled expression.

"Uh, I thought this was my parents' room. I'm really sorry," he stammered and swiftly disappeared, feeling utterly embarrassed.

AUTHOR POV

As the entire Aahan family gathered in Aahan's parents' room, it seemed like they were discussing something important.

"Mom, did you also think the same?" Aahan's sister-in-law Sarika exclaimed joyfully.

"We had seen something different in Aahan's eyes for that girl," Rekha Oberoi stated.

"So, Mom, what did you think?" Sarika inquired with the excitement of a five-year-old, her voice filled with anticipation.

"We spoke to Mrs. Suman and she told us the girl's name is Srishti. She's pursuing an MD in gynecology," Rekha explained.

"Once you speak to Aahan's father, we can also talk to Srishti's family," Sarika replied with a serious tone. "Yes, Mom, that sounds like the right thing to do," she added.

"What sounds like the right thing to do?"
