Shah Mansion, kashi, in the morning

After gathering everyone in the dining room, they all sat down for breakfast. The table was filled with delicious dishes, and the aroma filled the room.

As they began to eat, the family engaged in light-hearted conversation and laughter. It was moments like these that reminded Srishti of the importance of family and cherishing these special times together.

Devika, being the center of attention, entertained everyone with her cute anecdotes and innocent remarks. Srishti couldn't help but smile as she watched her niece bring joy to everyone's faces.

Amidst the laughter and warmth, Srishti's mind couldn't help but wander to the upcoming wedding function. She wondered how everything would unfold and hoped for a joyous celebration filled with love and happiness.

After finishing their breakfast, they all dispersed to get ready for the day ahead. Srishti retreated to her room to complete her MD work, but her heart was filled with anticipation for the upcoming festivities.

She knew that amidst her busy schedule, she had to make time for the wedding celebrations. It was a time to come together as a family, celebrate love, and create beautiful memories that would be cherished forever.

With a renewed sense of excitement, Srishti resumed her work, knowing that the day held promises of joy and togetherness. She couldn't wait to be a part of the wedding and share in the happiness of her loved ones.

As she immersed herself in her studies, the anticipation of the wedding lingered in her mind, adding a touch of sparkle to her day.

TIME SKIP TO EVENING

AUTHER POV

as they all prepare to attend today's mehndi event

"Mom, have you seen my green earrings? I wore them to Dev Bhai's friend's birthday party, but I can't seem to find them now," Srishti commented as she entered her parents' room. She was dressed in a stunning dark green lehenga.

"No, Saru, I have no idea where they are. Why don't you try a different pair of earrings with that outfit, or maybe you left them at your sister-in-law's place?" her mother replied while adjusting her saree pleats.

"Well, that's possible," Srishti said as she left her parents' room, but her father called out to her.

"Saru, do you know where I put my glasses?" her father asked, searching for something.

"Here they are," she responded, taking her father's spectacles from the upper pocket of his coat.

"You're getting older, please accept it," Srishti's mother teased, causing her father to pout.

"Well, alright. I know you two are a cute couple, but I have to go now," Srishti declared as she exited the room.

SRISHTI POV

"Sis(bhabhi), where are you?" Srishti called out as she entered her sister-in-law's room. "I'm here, Saru. What's up?" Her sister-in-law's voice came from the dressing room as she was dressing her daughter.

"Sis(bhabhi), did you see my green earrings?" Srishti asked, admiring how cute Devika looked in the green gown. "I think they're with me. Give me a moment to find them," Kritika replied. Srishti approached Devika and bent down to her level.

"Aww, my dear, you look so adorable," she whispered, pinching Devika's cheeks.

"Ouch, bua(auntie), that hurts," Devika protested, pouting. Srishti responded by giving her a kiss.

"And,bua (auntie), look, we're matching. Aren't we both beautiful?" Devika added, looking at their reflections in the front mirror, which brought a smile to Srishti's face.

"Saru, here they are," Kritika said, handing the earrings back to Srishti.

"Well, I'm ready now. Where's my brother? Hasn't he returned from the office yet?" Srishti asked, putting on her earrings.

"He's just on his way home. You know it takes him only 5 minutes to get ready," Kritika said, finishing her makeup, to which Srishti simply nodded.

"bua(Auntie), let's watch a cartoon. Mom will take a while," Devika suggested, pulling her out of the room.

AUTHORS POV

As they both entered the living room, they noticed that Srishi's father was already there, watching television.

"Grandpa, I want to watch a cartoon; could you please give me the remote?" Devika requested, playing the role of a good child, though no one could predict what mischief might be going on in her young mind.

Just then, the doorbell rang.

"Papa, papa," Devika chirped as she sprinted towards the door.

"Slow down, sweetheart, you might hurt yourself," Srishti cautioned.

Dev, exhausted from work, entered the house after Srishti opened the main entrance. However, when he saw his daughter's face, his tiredness evaporated.

"Devu, how are you, my dear?" he inquired, picking her up in his arms. "Papa, I'm fine. Don't you want to compliment me?" she replied with a pout, which elicited giggles from everyone.

"Now, tell me, brother, doesn't she look lovely today?" Srishti asked, causing Dev to furrow his brow.

"You look very good. Who said you don't look good today?" he remarked.

"And me, brother, don't I look good?" Srishti retorted with a playful pout in response to Dev's laughter and planted a kiss on her forehead.

SRISHTI POV

AFTER 1 HOUR, IN THE FUNCTION

As we arrived at our beautifully decorated destination, we were met with a lively atmosphere. People were scattered all around, busy with various activities—some enjoying their meals, others engrossed in conversations, and a few dancing in unique ways.

Just before we entered the hall, a voice called out my mother's name, "Neelam, over here!" A woman in her late 50s waved her hand to get our attention.

"How are you, Suman?" my mother inquired, recognizing the familiar face.

"This is Srishti, my youngest child," Mom introduced me, and I offered a polite greeting with my hands together. "Namaste, aunty," I replied. Suman aunty, giving me a side hug, asked, "Namaste, dear, how are you?" She then introduced me to Sarika Didi, who was engaged in conversation nearby.

"We've already met," Sarika Didi whispered sweetly, gently patting my head.

After exchanging pleasantries with Suman aunty and Sarika Didi, they excused themselves, leaving us to continue exploring the event. As my family got caught up in meeting relatives and friends, I thought to myself, "Now I can finally grab something to eat." Holding Devika's hand with my left hand, we made our way towards the fast-food stall.

In the midst of the crowd, I accidentally bumped into someone or something, causing a slight pain in my nose. While the person apologized, I whispered, "It's alright," and held my nose briefly to alleviate the discomfort.

I proceeded to the fast-food stand without looking back, although I couldn't help but notice the pleasant fragrance that lingered in the air.

"bua(aunty), are you okay? Does it still hurt?" Devika asked, pointing to my visibly red nose, a result of the accidental collision.

"I'm fine, sweetheart. It's just a little sore," I replied, managing a smile.

", but I got a free nose blush without asking for it," I joked, examining my nose in the front mirror of my phone.

"Angel!!!" While I was chatting with Devika, a little figure clung to my leg.

Looking down, I saw Abhi. "Abhi, how are you?" I asked, rubbing his head. He closed his eyes, clearly enjoying the attention.

Author pov

But before anything else could happen, someone pushed Abhi with a little force, causing him to stumble. There, he noticed a lovely tiny girl standing by, now gripping the same leg that Abhi had held earlier.

"She's my bua, not yours," she murmured, tightening her grasp. Abhi cried out, attempting to cling to me once again. "Leave her, she's my angel. You keep your bua with you," he pleaded, trying to pry the little girl's hand off my leg. "Fine, let's not argue. I can be both: Devu's bua and yours, Abhi, my angel," I murmured, hugging them both.

Srishti pov

I did my best to maintain peace between the two of them, and I believe I succeeded.

After dinner, I made sure they both ate, as Abhi wanted to be with us.

Since two functions were scheduled for the day, the mehndi and the sangeet, and the wedding was set for the next day, we decided to stay at the same hotel until the wedding. Going back and forth would be tiring and inconvenient.

After the sangeet, I found myself sitting on a bench, gazing at the moon. Thoughts of someone I couldn't quite remember plagued my mind, his haunting eyes appearing in my nightmares. I wished to avoid witnessing his demise, as it would be painful to know I couldn't save even a single person. Him . At that time Overwhelmed with guilt, I returned to my Banaras home.

"I don't know how you are, but if you're well, I would be happy. But if you're near the moon, please forgive me. I couldn't save you," I uttered softly, grazing my gaze upon the moon.

Unbeknownst to HER, she was being watched from afar.
