Chapter 557
Substitute Marriage: Falling For My Ugly Wife
Let me know if you require anything.â
Exiting the room, he positioned himself in the spacious corridor, his countenance stern as he gazed
downward at the well-lit lower level.
Nervous servants scurried past, and Bria seized the moment to approach.
âMr. Thomas, she hasnât returned yet. You should exercise caution. Although she mentioned staying at
the hospital, her presence there at night is uncertain,â Bria advised.
Marcusâ glare turned icy as he rebuked, âYour place is not to speak here. Depart.â
Bria swiftly lowered her head, explaining, âI did it to safeguard your reputation. I was concerned she
might make an error that could tarnish your image. Iâll leave immediately.â
Entering the bedroom, Marcus settled onto a sofa in the dimness. He extracted his phone, pinching it in
contemplation.
Recalling the recent dinner between Millie and Patrick, Marcus dialed Millieâs number.
Millie sat by her grandmotherâs bedside. Although awake, her grandmother remained frail and feeble.
Having spent a day at the hospital, Millie had refrained from bringing up the topic of the photo.
In a cold tone, Marcus queried, âWhat time is it? Why havenât you returned?â In a tone devoid of
warmth, Marcus uttered.
Startled, Millie grabbed her phone and exited the ward.
âIâm staying at the hospital to care for my grandmother. I wonât be home for the next few days,â Millie
conveyed.
Ina frigid tone, Marcus retorted, âSomeone is looking after her at the hospital. Do I need to remind you
again that members of the Thomas family canât be out all night?â
Wasnât he aware of her clash with Celeste over the issue of malaria, which had led her not to return
home recently?
âDue to an infectious disease in the hospital, Iâm concerned about getting infected and potentially
spreading it to all of you,â Millie explained.
However, Marcus simply instructed her to come back home.
After ending the call, Millie roused Teresa from her sleep and informed her about her departure.
Upon her return home, Millie found the entire villa enveloped in silence. As she approached the
bedroom door, she noticed it was shrouded in darkness. Had Marcus already fallen asleep?
âTum on the light.â
Marcusâ voice cut through the darkness.
His voice carried an icy chill, prompting Millie to illuminate the room.
Light streamed in as Marcus, dressed in a gray bathrobe, sat elegantly on the sofa.
