Chapter 423
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
Chapter: 423
Millie smiled brightly at her. âActually, | am.â
âThatâs impossible!â Nancy hissed.
Blinking, Millie rested her chin on her palm.
âWhy do you look so anxious? Are you worried you'll lose? Donât be. Your necklace is very impressive,â Millie said, and she
actually meant it.
Nancy stifled her anxiety, reminding herself that she had never lost a single competition before. She would win again this time;
she was sure of it.
Gnashing her teeth, she declared, âI'll win this competition. My work is better than yours.â
The judges were still examining the necklaces, but it was clear that most of them were intrigued by Millie's Light in the Dark.
Unable to sit still any longer, Nancy got to her feet and walked up to Marcus. She stopped a few inches from him and called ina
hushed tone, âMr. Thomas.â
Currently, Marcus was musing over Millie. He was impressed with her unexpectedly great performance. At first, he thought she
would come up with something of lower quality, but that was not what happened.
Her effective use of black and white to create a mysterious-feeling necklace was both impressive and shocking.
Marcus snapped out of her reverie upon hearing Nancyâs voice.
He turned to her and asked, âWhatâs wrong?â
Nancy glanced worriedly at the panel of judges. She was not sure how to tell Marcus that she did not feel confident about the
necklace she had made.
She did not know how to tell him that she might lose.
Her pride prevented her from saying so.
In the end, she forced a smile and said, âItâs nothing. I'll go back to my seat now and wait for the result.â With that, she returned
to her seat and sat back down.
Laurel grabbed Humphreyâs hand and tugged at it.
She asked grumpily, âHumphrey, why are the judges only examining Millieâs necklace? Nancyâs work is far more beautiful than
hers!â
She really wanted Nancy to defeat Millie.
Humphrey pressed his lips into a thin line, a helpless expression on his face.
He then said, âLetâs just wait for the result instead of getting anxious.â
No one had said it out loud, but it was clear that although Nancyâs necklace was stunning, it paled in comparison to Millieâs.
