Chapter 339
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
Chapter: 339
âYou're heading to the hospital?â Marcus questioned, noting the encroaching twilight.
Millie affirmed with a nod, âYes, my grandmother had a sleepless night plagued by pain. | must see to her.â
Marcus offered no further commentary but dutifully deposited Millie at the hospital before proceeding towards his own
destination: the company.
Inside the hospital, Millie found her place beside her grandmother's bed, her heart twisting painfully. The old woman slept, her
forehead hot to the touch, signaling her discomfort.
Holding her grandmotherâs aged, weathered hand in her soft grasp, Millie observed the marks of time imprinted on the palm,
along with the disconcerting swell of puncture wounds from countless injections.
The sight tore at Millieâs heart, filling her with an almost unbearable desire to bear those needle pricks in her grandmother's
stead. Holding back her tears, she whispered a plea. âGrandma, donât leave me. You must recover soon. | will find a way to heal
you. Just like you always emboldened me to stand strong in my younger days, you too must gather your strength.â
With that, her vision blurred with unshed tears. The sound of approaching footsteps heralded Teresaâs arrival. Hastily, Millie
swiped at her moist eyes, tucking her grandmother's hand back beneath the warm blanket.
âMiss Brown, | just spotted your grandmother's primary physician still present in the hospital. You might want to consult him
about her condition,â Teresa suggested.
âOkay, I'll head there immediately,â Millie acknowledged, quickly setting off to locate the doctor.
âDoctor, didnât the last prescribed medication manage to ease my grandmotherâs pain? Why is she suffering again?â
Millieâs voice was laced with anxiety as she posed her query in the confines of the doctor's office.
âWell, the fact of the matter is, the prescribed medication supply has been exhausted, and the patient ceased taking it yesterday,â
the doctor elucidated.
âThe medication supply is depleted. Does that imply the hospital no longer stocks it? If so, please procure it posthaste,â Millie
blurted with evident distress.
Regretfully shaking his head, the doctor explained, âThis particular drug is a novelty, a creation of a foreign pharmaceutical
research center. Its production is extremely limited, making domestic acquisition impossible. The previous supply was provided
specifically for your grandmotherâs treatment by Mr. Thomas.â
The mention of Mr. Thomas left Millie visibly taken aback. âMr. Thomas arranged for it?â
Which Mr. Thomas was being referred to? The doctor had never previously alluded to this narrative regarding the medication.
She had been under the impression that the hospital imported it directly from overseas.
This revelation indicated that securing further supplies of this medicine might prove challenging.
âMiss Brown, do not be overly concerned. Allow me to reach out to Mr. Thomas again and ascertain whether he can procure
more of the medication. Should he succeed, that would be ideal. According to your grandmotherâs recent test results, her
condition hasnât deteriorated. If we manage to alleviate her pain, her discomfort can be mitigated.â
Just as he concluded his reassurances, the phone in his office trilled.
âExcuse me, | must attend to this call.â
Millie had intended to probe further into Mr. Thomasâs identity. Yet the doctorâs prolonged phone call dissuaded her from waiting,
leading her to exit the office.
Mr. Thomas? Could it be Leon?
