chapter 31
Bittersweet Revenge: The mafia's wife
The night air carried a crisp chill as Amaira strolled through the garden, hoping the fresh breeze would clear her troubled thoughts. Scar Boss's words from earlier still echoed in her mind."Because it's entertaining."Her fingers clenched at her sides. Did he truly think so little of her? Did he enjoy watching her struggle, watching her feel inferior while Selena flaunted her presence? No matter how hard she tried to deny it, deep down, his words had stung. The grass felt soft under her bare feet as she wandered toward the stone pathway, inhaling the scent of night-blooming jasmine. The mansion was quiet, the staff retired for the night. Only the occasional rustle of leaves or the distant hoot of an owl disturbed the silence.Then-A sharp crunch. Her body tensed. That wasn't the wind. Before she could react, a firm hand clamped over her mouth, muffling her gasp. A strong arm wrapped around her waist, yanking her backward into the shadows.Panic surged through her as she kicked and twisted violently, but her captor was prepared."Stay still," a low voice rasped into her ear. "Or we'll make this painful."Her screams were swallowed by the firm grip on her mouth. The scent of damp leather and sweat filled her nose. Her heartbeat roared in her ears as another set of hands grabbed her arms, binding them behind her back.A cloth was tied over her eyes, plunging her into darkness. She thrashed, desperate to break free, but they were too strong. The sound of an approaching vehicle sent another jolt of terror through her. No, no, no!She struggled harder, but it was useless. The trunk of a car was wrenched open, and in one swift movement, she was thrown inside. The impact knocked the air out of her lungs. The cold metal pressed against her skin as the trunk slammed shut, sealing her in complete darkness. The engine roared to life. The car sped away, the vibrations rattling her bones.**Meanwhile, at the Mansion**Scar Boss sat in his study, his jaw clenched as he stared at the document Selena had left behind. His grip tightened, threatening to crush the pages.GSelena had pushed her limits today. But the real frustration wasn't just her -it was Amaira.Amaira's defiance, her innocence, the way she looked at him with unspoken emotions she herself didn't understand. She had begun to creep under his skin in ways he hadn't expected. And that was dangerous.A sharp knock on the door. His assistant rushed in, his face pale."Boss-Amaira is missing."Scar Boss's head snapped up, his sharp eyes locking onto him. "What did you say?"The assistant swallowed hard. "The guards saw someone drag her from the garden. She's been taken."For a brief second, the room was dead silent.Then-A deafening crash.Scar Boss had flung the glass tumbler from his desk, shattering it against the wall. His entire demeanor darkened, his fingers digging into the armrest of his chair. A storm brewed in his gaze, deadly and unrelenting."Find her." His voice was dangerously low, a whisper of lethal promise. The assistant bowed quickly and ran out.Scar Boss stood, his mind racing.Whoever had taken her had just made the worst mistake of their life.Because when Scar Boss came for something that belonged to him-He never left without blood.***The black SUV skidded to a halt outside a rundown warehouse on the outskirts of the city. Amaira's breathing was ragged as she was yanked out of the trunk and dragged forward. Her wrists burned from the tight ropes binding them, and fear clenched her stomach like a vice. The air smelled of oil and rust. The dim lighting barely revealed the faces of the men who had taken her.One of them chuckled darkly. "Didn't think it'd be this easy, huh? Scar Boss must be slipping."Amaira didn't respond. Her mind was racing, trying to make sense of why she had been taken. Was this about Scar Boss? Was it about the papers Selena had? Or was it something worse? Before she could think further, she was shoved into a chair. The ropes tightened further around her wrists. The man crouched before her, smirking. "Let's see how much you're worth to him."A chill ran down her spine.Would Scar Boss even come for her?She swallowed hard, pushing the thought away."Seriously it's so easy when a mafia's in love. Using the sl** to blackmail them is the easiest." One of them continued"Never denied that. It would be so easy to kill that bas**** now that his woman is with us." The sinister laugh echoed the hall with no end to Amaira's nightmare. She couldn't believe her ears. They were plotting his death. He was going to die, and it was all because of her!
