chapter 20

Bittersweet Revenge: The mafia's wife

Amaira walked down the stairs, her light blue frock, reaching just below her knee. The sleeves were the highlight of the dress - they were slit from the shoulder to the wrist, creating a elegant and sophisticated look. The slits were quite deep, adding a touch of drama to the overall design. The dress itself quite fitted, accentuating the curves of Amaira's body. The neckline was modest, rounding out the overall classic and timeless design. As Scar Boss caught sight of her, his eyes widened in surprise. He couldn't believe the transformation. Amaira looked stunning, like a completely different person. For a moment, Scar Boss forgot to breathe. He forgot about his tough exterior, his rough demeanor. All he could think about was how beautiful Amaira looked. As Amaira reached the bottom of the stairs, Scar Boss couldn't help but stare. "Wow," he breathed, his voice barely above a whisper.Amaira smiled, her eyes sparkling with pleasure. Seeing that Scar Boss gathered himself and looked away as though not caring, however if one noticed him carefully, he was drooling.Richard came towards Amaira and gave her a seat of the second sofa. There were altogether three sofas rounded up. Scar boss had the longest one to himself while the others were for her and the guest. Amaira grew uncomfortable from the strange vibrations coming from Scar Boss. She tried to get accustomed to the silence when a car was parked outside. The maid got the door and the guest arrived. Amaira was sitting quietly, clearly feeling awkward under Scar Boss's presence. She did not know what to expect next, but she knew the guest he had invited were important, so she must not make it awkward. However, she did not know what Scar Boss wanted. When she heard footsteps, Amaira finally saw the face of the guest and was shocked because it was none other than the Stranger Doctor.Amaira's eyes widened as she stared at Dr. Luke, her voice barely above a whisper. "You?" she asked, her surprise evident.Scar Boss's expression faltered, his eyes narrowing slightly. He hadn't expected Amaira to recognize Dr. Luke.Dr. Luke, however, seemed unfazed. His calm demeanor suggested he had anticipated Amaira's reaction. He regarded her with a steady gaze, his expression neutral. The air was thick with tension as Scar Boss regained his composure. "You know each other?" he asked, his voice dripping with curiosity.Amaira's eyes remained fixed on Dr. Luke, her mind racing with questions. What was he doing here? And how did he know Scar Boss?"Certainly we do." Dr Luke was the next to speak with a pretty smile, if pretty was a legal work for men. Amaira's initial shock began to wear off, replaced by a flurry of questions. "What are you doing here?" she asked Dr. Luke, her curiosity getting the better of her.Dr. Luke smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I'm here at his invitation.he replied, pointing towards Scar Boss.Amaira's eyes narrowed. "But how do you know him?" she pressed.Dr. Luke chuckled. "We are childhood friends." he said. "We are pretty close. That's why I will be staying here for my visit to London."Amaira's surprise grew, "Friends? Stay? Wow. Well I still owe you a thanks doctor."Dr. Luke's smile grew wider. "Don't call me that. I think it's time I introduced myself properly," he said. "My name is Dr. Luke Thompson. You can call me Luke. And please don't be so formal. I'm just glad I could help." He said modestly.Amaira's composure returned, and she smiled, her eyes shining with gratitude. "Thank you," she said, her voice sincere. "Thank you so much."Dr. Luke smiled back, his eyes warm. "You're welcome," he said. "And I'd like to take it a step further. I'd like to perform your brother's final surgery."Amaira's joy knew no bounds. "Really?" she exclaimed, her face alight. She had been trying to look for Dr. Luke from thestart and now he was right in front of her giving her the hopeful promise.Dr. Luke nodded. "Really," he said. "I'll make sure he receives the best care possible."As Amaira and Dr. Luke continued to talk, Scar Boss watched with a growing unease. A spark of jealousy had ignited within him, and he couldn't quite explain why or even what it was. He felt shunned, pushed aside by the easy camaraderie between Amaira and Dr. Luke."Dr. Luke," Scar Boss interrupted, his voice curt. "Perhaps you'd like to freshen up before dinner? Your room is ready."Dr. Luke's eyes flicked to Scar Boss, a hint of surprise in their depths. "Ah, yes, of course," he said. "Thank you."As Dr. Luke stood up to leave, Amaira's eyes followed him, a look of gratitude still etched on her face. Scar Boss's jealousy flared, and he felt a sudden urge to reassert his control over the situation.
