Dynasties And love [ Completed]
Iâm honestly devastated that Joss is following those peopleânot because I was a die-hard Joss fan, but because itâs a glaring issue. To be fair, I didnât even know who he was before his first BL drama, The Vampire One, aired. I had no reason to follow him or care about his career. Iâm one of those fans who already has a lot on my plate, and Iâm not the type to obsess over a BL pair before they even appear in a drama.
That said, hearing about this is disappointing. I was genuinely looking forward to his upcoming shows, but now? I wonât be watching them or supporting him. Why? Because I refuse to support someone who clearly doesnât respect people like meâas a woman, as a person of color, and as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. People keep saying, âOh, itâs his personal life.â Sure, itâs his personal life, and he doesnât owe me an explanation. But guess what? I also donât owe him my money, time, or support.
Actors are just actors. Letâs not forget that. If your only reason to defend him is because you âjust want to see two men kiss,â then fine, keep watching. But for the rest of us who care about representation, it matters. If he wanted to follow people with hateful ideologies, he shouldâve stuck to straight dramas. He couldâve kissed women on-screen and off-screen all day if he didnât believe in LGBTQ+ rights.
And for those saying, âItâs just a follow,â spare me. Iâve seen plenty of people on Twitter and Reddit trying to excuse this by saying they donât even know who they follow. Okay, fineâbut I follow people I admire and respect, not people who perpetuate hate.
Iâm not usually the type to say, âI canât enjoy this actorâs work anymore.â Iâve overlooked plenty of personal controversies in the past. But this? This is different. I canât watch someone pretend to represent my community on-screen while supporting people who despise it off-screen. Thatâs where I draw the line.
For those of you who may not know, Jossâthe actor whoâs set to star in The Golden Blood and Only Friends: Dream On alongside Gawainâhas sparked controversy recently. Heâs been following several highly controversial figures, such as Andrew Tate, Pearl, Trump, and other right-wing politicians and activists. These are people who, whenever they speak, promote harmful ideologies.
For instance, theyâve said things like:
Women should have fewer rights and no autonomy.
A womanâs worth is solely tied to men and their future children.
Being a sexual offender is âbetterâ than being gay.
Systemic racism against people of color never existed.
These individuals cater to a worldview centered around white, cisgender, heterosexual, Christian menâexcluding everyone else. The fact that Joss is following them has understandably upset many fans, especially those in the BL fandom, where LGBTQ+ representation is deeply significant.
Itâs not just about who he follows. Joss chose to be part of the BL industry, a space that thrives because of support from LGBTQ+ individuals, allies, and fans of diverse identities. For someone in his positionâhalf-American, half-Thai, a man with privilegeâto align himself (even passively) with figures who actively harm the very community he represents on-screen is, at best, irresponsible and, at worst, hypocritical.
Now, let me be clear: Joss has every right to follow whoever he wants. But the moment he decided to take roles in BL dramas, he accepted the responsibility of representing a marginalized community. With that comes accountability. Fans questioning his choices arenât being âtoo sensitiveâ; theyâre asking for the bare minimum: respect and integrity.
Iâve never been the type to criticize BL actors for having relationships or for not perfectly embodying the characters they play. Thatâs not the issue here. The issue is when someone represents a community they donât genuinely care aboutâor worse, whose rights they indirectly undermine by supporting harmful ideologies.
Personally, I canât defend him, and I canât sit back and watch others dismiss this as ânot a big deal.â If this situation resonates with you, Iâd love to hear your thoughts. Do you think fans are right to hold him accountable, or do you feel differently? Let me know in the comments.
Alright, thatâs all for now. Letâs meet in the next chapter!
