Chapter 50 - 51: Do You Really Think I’m Stupid?
Reborn As Divine Doctor to Rule the World
The nanny handed over a cup of tea, âNo wonder Luo Jiner goes to the clinic every day, she must be seeking treatment from the female doctor.â
âHa, I had thought she would behave and having a child wouldnât matter, I could simply raise the child myself, but now it seems anyone can bear Yuyuâs offspring, except for her.â
Previously, Old Madam Chu had thought that as long as she could embrace a great-grandchild, it didnât matter who the mother was.
But in the past few days, Luo Jiner had clung to Chu Yu daily, not allowing him to visit other concubines and even using the excuse of feeling unwell to have Chu Yu stay by her side, all of which were sly tricks that deepened Old Madam Chuâs prejudice against her.
âThe old servant had said before, Luo Jiner is not a straightforward person, and she even deliberately prevents the Marquis from visiting Old Madam, clearly provoking you.â
Old Madam Chu was well aware of Luo Jinerâs schemes, but she had turned a blind eye, letting her be arrogant for a few days. After all, Yuyu would eventually tire of her if she couldnât bear children.@@novelbin@@
A thought about the female doctor sprang to mind, causing her to frown and say, âIf that female doctor really can cure Luo Jiner, what then?â
The nanny, astute in thought, immediately guessed what Old Madam Chu was worried about and quickly replied, âIf that is the case, we indeed need to be wary of that female doctor. However, in my opinion, we can have the female doctor treat Old Madamâs headaches. Then subtly suggest to her not to cure Luo Jinerâs infertility. Wouldnât that be the best of both worlds?â
Old Madam Chu revealed a smile, finished the tea in her hand, and rose to her feet, saying, âIndeed, you truly understand my heart.â
The nanny helped Old Madam Chu up, smiling as she replied, âOld Madamâs praise honors me; itâs my privilege to relieve you of worries.â
In the medical hall, Shao He was unaware that her reputation had already spread throughout the Capital City; during her moments of leisure, she relaxed back in her chair.
She held a medical book in her hand, flipping through it page by page, occasionally reaching out to play with Xiao Linzhang lying in the cradle.
âWu wu, wa wa.â Xiao Linzhang kicked and waved excitedly, bubbles forming at his mouth, looking extremely adorable.
âDoctor Shao, Doctor Shao.â
The calm atmosphere was once again disrupted, as the servant boy ran over in a panic, gasping, âDoctor Shao, thereâs a problem with the herbs being prepared in the backyard.â
Doctor Yun was not in the shop today as he had gone out to purchase herbs, otherwise he would not have come to call Doctor Shao.
Shao He looked up at the servant boy, her expression somber, âWhatâs the problem?â
The servant boy hurriedly answered, âYou better come and see.â
Shao He asked Aunt Liu, Qing Shan, and Qingxia to take good care of Xiao Linzhang and to watch over the medical hall. If patients arrived, they should wait a moment.
She followed the servant boy to the backyard.
Just after Shao He had left, Old Madam Chu entered the medical hall with the nanny, and upon entering, they began looking around.
Aunt Liu, holding the child, came forward and asked, âAre you here for a consultation or to get medicine?â
Old Madam Chu did not speak; her nanny immediately smiled and asked, âWe heard there is a skilled female doctor here. My lady has some headaches and would like to have her take a look, if she could cure it. Do you know where she might be?â
âIf you are here for a consultation, Iâm afraid youâll have to wait a moment, as Doctor Shao just went to the backyard,â Aunt Liu explained, holding the child.
Seeing the child in her arms, Old Madam Chu felt an uncanny resemblance to Chu Yu as a child and walked over unconsciously.
âHow old is this child?â Old Madam Chu asked, touching his frail little hand, her heart warming.
Aunt Liu smiled and replied, âXiao Linzhang is just over two months old.â
Hearing that the child was just over two months old, she thought again of the child who had died; if that child were still alive, he would also be about two months old.
The nanny noticed Old Madam Chuâs sadness and couldnât help advising, âOld Madam, donât be too worried; with your health, itâs not good to overthink.â
Old Madam Chu nodded, her gaze returning to the child. She reached out her hands to play with him and softly said to Aunt Liu, âCan I hold him?â
Aunt Liu looked uneasy, afraid that the person before her might harm Xiao Linzhang.
âAunt Liu, is there a patient for a consultation?â Shao He came out while speaking, rolling up her sleeves with the smell of herbs still on her.
Old Madam Chu and the nanny both looked up to see who it was, their eyes showing a hint of panic.
âMaâam?â The nanny finally found her voice, hardly believing what she was seeing.
âBut werenât the madam and the Young Marquis already dead? How could they still be standing here?â
After seeing who was approaching, Shao Heâs expression slightly changed, but she quickly regained her composure and coolly said, âAre you here for a medical consultation? Whatâs troubling you?â
Old Madam Chu, clenching her teeth and regaining her composure from the shock, looked back at the child in Aunt Liuâs arms and immediately guessed that the child must be Chu Yuâs.
âSince youâre still alive, why didnât you bring the child back to Marquis Pingnanâs Mansion, instead of making him suffer out here?â
Old Madam Chu had not expected that the great-grandchild she longed for would appear so suddenly before herâher heart surged with both excitement and anger.
âPerhaps this Old Madam is mistaken, I donât know you,â Shao He calmly walked over, meeting Old Madamâs gaze fearlessly.
âEven if you turned to ash, I would still recognize you. Come with me with the child,â Old Madam Chu said as she moved forward to take the child, but Aunt Liu quickly dodged.
Shao He stepped in front of her, a cold smile curving at her lips, âWhatever you say, I donât understand a word. If youâre not here for a medical consultation, please leave.â
Old Madam was not as easily fooled as Luo Jiner; she didnât believe a word Shao He said.
âYou think Iâm a fool?â Old Madam Chu glared at her.
