Chapter 26: One who brings trouble upon himself must suffer the consequences

To prove that Shao He had no medical skills and was just being stubborn, Luo Jiner deliberately said, “It’s impossible for my monthly periods to always be so regular, and I’ve never felt unwell nor have I ever been injured.”

Jhiang Yijia, seeing that those who left did not pursue the matter, merely sat to one side quietly watching Shao He. The intelligent woman had already guessed Doctor Shao’s identity, but her attempts to approach and explain were ignored.

“If Miss Jhiang has nothing further, please leave,” he said.

Jhiang Yijia, sensing his indifferent attitude, immediately felt awkward and hastened to explain, “I’m sorry, Doctor Shao. It was the Marquis who found my father, and I had no choice but to bring her here.”

Though she didn’t know the whole story, her inclination was to trust her lifesaver—Doctor Shao’s kindness indicated he was no villain.

“Thank you for your kindness, but I believe Luo Jiner won’t leak any news of my whereabouts here for the time being,” he responded.

Shao He was fully confident that, as Luo Jiner sought a renowned doctor to treat her infertility, she would not possibly reveal her and her child’s location to the Marquis Pingnan’s Mansion.

If Old Madam Chu found out she and her child were still alive, she would certainly bring them back. Luo Jiner wouldn’t allow such a thing to happen; she was sure to keep the secret of having seen her.

Jhiang Yijia looked at her in admiration, “Doctor Shao, you really are too clever.”
