In her motel room, Ning Shu activated the tracking system. She spent five merit points to find out which hospital Ou Haoxuan was in.

Previously, Ning Shu had tracked Ou Haoxuan and Mu Yeyao and found out that they had returned to the country—there were two small red dots on the map, which indicated that Ou Haoxuan had survived the car accident.

He really had a strong will to live.

Ning Shu took a taxi to the hospital but was told she wasn’t allowed to visit.

Ou Haoxuan was staying in a VIP suite, and ordinary people weren’t permitted to see him.

Ning Shu asked the nurse, “How is his condition?”

The nurse replied bluntly, “We can’t disclose any information about the patient.”

With no other options, Ning Shu left the hospital.

At the hospital entrance, she ran into Mu Yeyao. He was wearing a military uniform, and his skin was much darker.

He had clearly endured some hardship in the army and was here to visit Ou Haoxuan.

Ning Shu lowered her head and walked straight into Mu Yeyao, knocking both of them to the ground.

As Mu Yeyao got back up, he felt like his ribs had been broken.

“How do you walk like that?” Mu Yeyao’s voice carried a fierce, intimidating tone, with a faint hint of killing intent.

Ning Shu quickly got up and bowed her head, apologizing repeatedly, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry.”@@novelbin@@

She apologized while hurriedly running away, still bowed over.

Mu Yeyao rubbed his ribs and coughed. How on earth could you crash into someone like that?

After leaving the hospital, Ning Shu went to find a private investigator to gather information.

A car accident involving someone like Ou Haoxuan should have made major news.

The private investigator should know something.

“Ou Haoxuan got into a car accident while racing abroad. It wasn’t too serious—just a concussion and a broken hand,” the private investigator explained.

“Is the concussion and broken hand serious?” Ning Shu asked.

The investigator replied, “Pretty serious. I’ve heard he hasn’t woken up yet, and his hand is so badly broken they had to insert metal plates.”

Ning Shu nodded. It did sound serious. If he had metal plates in his hand, he wouldn’t be able to race again.

She paid the investigator and stayed in the city for a few more days, buying a few things.

From time to time, she checked with the private investigator about Ou Haoxuan’s condition.

Ou Haoxuan had suffered a severe head injury and still hadn’t regained consciousness. If he remained in this state, he could end up in a vegetative state. ℞ΑŊŎꞖƐṩ

Ning Shu took the bumpy bus ride back home.

She returned to her peaceful life.

She focused on earning a living so that she could host an art exhibition for Yi Xiaodong in the future.

Everything that needed to be done had been done. The entrustor had suffered because she had been forced to enter a social class she didn’t belong to.

As a weaker party, she was bullied. No matter how hard she tried to curry favor with and please the others, she couldn’t escape her fate of being bullied.

When Ning Shu returned to the Daoist temple and the house in the back mountain, she saw Yi Xiaodong lying on the ground, covered in dirt.

Seeing Ning Shu return, Yi Xiaodong jumped up to greet her.

Ning Shu set down her suitcase, patted the dust off Yi Xiaodong, and asked, “Have you been eating properly?”

“Yes, the Daoist priest had someone bring me food.”

Ning Shu nodded as she looked at the simple-minded Yi Xiaodong.

Yi Xiaodong wasn’t very sharp, but he had a simple and happy life.

Living a semi-reclusive life with Yi Xiaodong, free from the cares of the world, was incredibly satisfying. They could support themselves without too much effort, and it was simply wonderful.
