Chapter 47: Night air
Butcher Demon
Eventually, we ended up outside, grilling meat and talking. We talked while eating. After lunch, we talked over a cup of tea brewed from pine leaves that grew nearby. We went back to the cave to talk again. We talked a lot. Abigailâs face was beaming with joy.
I just canât understand herâ¦
âSo, you feel like you understand this Miss through herâ¦â¦service?
ãDefinitely.ã
âOh, wellâ¦â¦.â
Abigail was at a loss to my confident response.
In particular, she asks me this and that about Miss. I decided to be mostly open about her since we were going to run away together anyway.
I didnât have much to hide, and I was hoping that Abigail might have some information about her.
âIâm sorry. but none of her physical features match any of the alien races I know. The one that does is the demon race, but the demon race is one of the most powerful alien races so I donât think they do that kind of work.â
As I thought.
âAnd Iâve never heard of a spider coming out of their mouthsâ¦â¦.â
The spider disappeared into the city. Abigail was right. Thank you.
By the way, I hadnât told her what happened after that.
âhmmâ¦â¦â
Abigailâs eyes narrowed a little as she thought about my story.
She seemed a little tired from the look on her face.
ãItâs time to go to bed.ã
And please release me from the hell of talking.
âHmmmâ¦â¦ I guess.â
Abigail stretches and yawns a bit. The blonde hair hanging down her nicely curved back suddenly catches my eye.
âWhat should we do about the night watch?â
ãIâll do it. You can sleep.ã
âYeahâ¦â¦.but doesnât Gevaudan sleep?â
ãâI never sleep. Occasionally, I just need to be Spaced out a while. ã
âSpaced outâ¦â¦.â
Abigail made an admiring face, then curled up in a corner of the cave, wrapped in a thin blanket.
âGood night, Gevaudan. â¦â¦â
The cave was lit by a lantern. Once I turned it off, there was only a pale moonlight falling through a crack in the ceiling. Immediately, it felt as if a cold twilight sky was cascading down its rays.
This is why you need simple bedding.
I would like to lay Abigail down properly, and it would probably be cold with just that cloth. I looked at her and saw that she was still shivering a bit.
When itâs dark, I canât use my writing strategy on the ground!
I had no choice but to move to her side and tapped her on the shoulder. I asked if she was cold.
âItâs a little cold, isnât it â¦â¦?
Of course, it is. She was leaning against a rock on the ground.
I sat down on the spot and put Abigail on top of it.
âItâs warm as usualâ¦â¦thank you.â
as usual?â¦â¦ Oh, you said my body is hot when we have sex because Iâm excited. Well, thatâs part of it, but my base body temperature is high. I think itâs because Iâm fat.
âHey, heyââ
Abigail looked up at me nervously.
âYouâre poking my backâ¦â¦.â
Itâs not surprising, since Iâve been abstinent while travelingâ¦â¦Oh, wellâ¦
I slipped off my apron and placed my own member directly on Abigailâs back.
â Yutanpo[1] â
âYeahâ¦â¦.â
Itâs warm. I am so proud of my scorching rod. And it feels good to have your blonde hair brushing against it.
âItâsâ¦..warm, butâ¦â¦â
Abigail seemed to be getting worried. I know how you feel, but this is the warmest thing I can think of. Itâs a perverted idea that made me fond of it.
Abigail fidgeted.
âDo you, um, do you want toâ¦â¦?â
I do.
Iâd like to say yes, but no. You need to get some rest and start working hard tomorrow.
âYes, yesâ¦â¦.â
Abigail squirmed and turned over in embarrassment.
Does this mean Iâve shamed a womanâ¦â¦?
She looked uncomfortable like that for a while, but she must have been tired because she soon stopped moving.
I hope you get a good rest. Getting a cold in a time like this is dangerous.
After all, my fate now depended on her.
I should think that this free time between us would never happen again. If we donât get results here, the future will be very difficult. Because Abigail has a time limit. There is no woman who can remain an offering to the Butcher forever.
This is your first and last chance to help me as well as yourself.
I wonder if youâre aware of that.
Do you realize that the beast youâre about to unleash with good intentions is an unfathomable monster that will soon become the worldâs greatest enemy?
I listened to the sleeping sound in my arms and went back to my work of staring into the darkness that had accumulated in the cave.
â¦
âI wonder why it looks so retro.â
Abigail said, tilting her head as she disassembled the control terminal.
âDonât you think so, Gevaudan?
ãI know. Itâs old-fashioned.ã
ââ¦â¦ I know, right!â
There was a pause, and then Abigail chimed in.
She was watching my reaction every now and then.
Iâm pretty sure Abigail thinks Iâm a former human. I even accidentally wrote some words. Itâs impossible to escape the fact that I wrote human letters thatâs hard evidence that I have lived a human life before.
Well, itâs a little late for that.
The control terminal is in the shape of a very old cell phone. Itâs a landline phone thatâs been enlarged to the size of a dumbbell. But instead of a speaker, it has a display, and the handle has a bunch of buttons on it. The microphone seems to be there as well.
âHmmmâ¦â¦â¦I think I understand the structure inside, butâ¦â
So youâve figured it outâ¦â¦. Seriously, this girl is amazing.
We started disassembling it this morning. And now itâs mid-afternoon. So itâs only been half a day.
Did I mention that she was in Intelligence Intel? As expected of the elite.
âIâd like to examine the parts a little more closelyâ¦â¦.In this case, Iâd like to use a .
I seeâ¦
ãWhat is that?ã
âThe magic stone collator isâ¦â¦first of all itâs alien technology, but most of their special effect tools use some kind of crystal, a magic stone as their core.
I see.
âThe magic stone is a crystallized form of the magic used by the aliens, a tool that can be used by anyone to produce a specific effect. We call them .â
I canât believe it.
âThe magic stone collator is a device developed by the humans to analyze the contents of the magic stone.â
I see.
ãWhere can I find this thing?ã
ââ¦â¦ Iâm sure Gevaudan would have noticed, but there was a human outpost on the mountainside on the way here, right?â
There was.
It was camouflaged from a distance, but I think it was probably a secret frontline base for the Echo Team. It wasnât there the last time I was here, so it must have been built recently.
I nodded my head and Abigail said, âCan you bring it back here?â
I nodded my head, and Abigail said again.
âCan you bring me there? I want you to take me with you.â
â¦â¦Hmm? Is that okay?
I was aware that there was a base and I thought maybe if I attacked it I could get something useful for Abigailâs work, but I knew you would definitely disagree so I didnât tell you.
ãAre you sure? Kill them all?ã
Thereâs no other way.
Weâll kill everyone we come up against, young and old, male and female, and eventually, weâll destroy all the equipment. We donât want any evidence left behind. And we have to leave before the backup arrives.
âI donât care.â
Abigail said firmly.
ââ¦â¦That place, Gevaudan. Itâs probably a secret front for an engineering unit thatâs under the command of an intelligence division called Echo Team.â
I couldnât agree more.
âIâve already been beaten to a pulp by AASPINT. I donât care what happens to them anymore, theyâre still under the breath of the Intelligence Division. And no matter what, weâre the priority. Some sacrifices are necessary if we want to survive. Weâll examine your device there.â
Thatâs cruel.
Itâs hard to believe that sheâs the one who was so merciful to me the other day.
Sheâs a bit two-faced, isnât she? as expected of an elite.
I took Abigail with me and we left immediately. It was a rush job, and every minute was precious.
We should be able to get close to Echo Teamâs base of operations before nightfall.
