Chapter 911
Trapped in Love
Evan immediately thought of Caroline and hastily called her. He knew she must be beside herself, but her phone was switched off.
Frustrated, he tugged at his tie and hurried to his office.
After a brief thought, he tried calling Thomas but couldnât reach him.
Seeing that, Reuben reminded, âWhy donât you call Mr. Price, Mr. Jordan?â
Enlightened, Evan called Alex, who picked up instantly.
âHello?â Alex sounded lazy.
Evan asked sternly, âWhere are you?â
âAt home. Why? Are you going to ask about what my parents said, Evan? I cowered after I got hom-â
âI donât want to hear you talk about that!â Evan interrupted. âNeilâs car fell into the river, and I canât reach Caroline!â
âWhat?!â Alex immediately snapped back to reality. âNeil fell into the river?â
âGo to the scene now! Caroline must be there! Ask her to pick up my call!â
âNo, she wonât be there!â Alex blurted out without thinking.
Frowning deeply, Evan demanded, âWhat do you mean?â
Alex realized his mistake. âNo, nothing. Iâll go there now.â
âAlex!â Evan snapped. âAre you keeping something from me?â
Alex guiltily answered, âThatâs impossibleâ¦â
âDonât force me to look into it myself,â Evan threatened. âI hate it the most when people lie to me!â
Alex could feel Evanâs wrath and feared he couldnât keep it from him any longer. He exhaled and gave in.â Forget it. Iâll tell you. Daniella shot Caroline twice in the chest on the engagement night. Sheâs still lying in the ICU and isnât out of danger yet.â
Upon hearing that, Evanâs mind went blank, and a freezing chill overwhelmed him. He was heartbroken, it turned out Caroline couldnât respond because she was shot. But he was still ignorant and stuck in Muricia, handling annoying affairs.
He felt the urgency to return to his homeland immediately.
Gasping, Evan stared at Reuben with red eyes. âNow! I want to go back to our country now!â
Reuben looked at Evan in astonishment, wondering why he had suddenly lost control of his emotions.
However, he could vaguely feel how serious it was.
Reuben nodded immediately. âOkay, Mr. Jordan. Iâll get people to prepare your private jet.â
Half an hour later, Evan stepped onto the company rooftop. The helicopter was already in motion, sending waves of loud noises from the propellers.
Evan looked at Reuben and instructed, âYou stay with Julian to handle the aftermath and call me if thereâs any issue.â
âGot it, Mr. Jordan,â Reuben answered, facing the strong wind and loud noises.
Evan nodded and strode toward the helicopter, his black windbreaker swaying vigorously, yet he took steady steps.
Once Evan was aboard the helicopter, Reuben left.
After Reuben descended downstairs, Julian came up. Spotting Reuben, he looked around. âWhere is Mr. Jordan?â
Reuben sighed before explaining, âSomething happened to Mr. Neil. Mr. Jordan left in a hurry after his call with Mr. Price.â
Julian was stunned. âDidnât you ask Mr. Jordan about the reason?â
âNo, I didnât.â Reuben walked toward the office. âMr. Jordan will be mad if I ask too many questions.â
