Evan swallowed hard and asked gloomily. “Why did she hide it from me?”

Paige’s face turned pale, and just listening to Kenny’s account terrified her.

Meanwhile, Neil returned.

Paige turned to Neil eagerly. “How is it? Is your blood type a match?”

An hour later, Caroline was wheeled out of the emergency room, her forehead and shoulder wrapped in bandages.

Evan momentarily held his breath when he saw Caroline. He wanted to approach her, but his knees trembled uncontrollably.

Paige covered her mouth and wept.

The doctor looked at them and said, “She arrived just in time, but she sustained a serious head injury and is still in critical condition. We’ll place her in the ICU, and someone needs to stay with her. Her family member also donated a significant amount of blood, so someone should care for him too.”

“I’ll take care of her,” Evan volunteered.

The doctor nodded. “Come with me to complete the hospital admission procedure.”

Caroline was taken to the ICU, with Kenny following her.

Since two people were attending to Caroline, Paige took on the responsibility of looking after Neil.
