Chapter 328.2 What Makes Imogen So Unique (2)
Troyâs gaze became razorâsharp as if he were staring through someone.
Emily fell silent.
âGrab your stuff and get out of here now. If I find out you havenât gotten on that plane, I wonât be easy on you!â
Troy warned and walked away.
Emily went after him, her voice quivering. âTroy, do you even understandâ¦â
Bang!
Before she could finish her sentence, the hospital room door slammed shut forcefully.
Emily stared at the closed door as if she could see through it.
She cursed Imogen, that loathsome woman, firmly convinced she must have drugged Troy!
Later in the afternoon, Imogen received a call from Frank.
He informed her, âJeffâs statement doesnât entirely align with Leoâs.â
âWhat do you mean?â Imogen asked.
Frank explained, âJeff admitted to accepting money for the kidnapping and confessed that Victor was paid to run over your father. However, he insists that Leo was the mastermind behind all this.â
Imogen was taken aback. âSo, heâs claiming that Sarah had no involvement, and Leo is behind it all?â
âYes,â Frank confirmed. âHe mentioned Sarah several times in his statement, depicting her as a victim and providing vivid accounts of the hardships she endured during the kidnapping.â
Jeff explained why Leo had ordered Sarahâs kidnapping. It was because, at the time, Troy was deeply involved in an important project, and Leo didnât want Troy to receive any credit for its
success.
Imogen fell silent.
She desired to place her trust in Troy and Leo, believing that Leo was not the mastermind behind
it all.
She couldnât fathom how Leo could have been involved in her fatherâs death and acted like a caring brother as if nothing had occurred.
However, when she looked at it objectively, she couldnât find a motive for Jeff to lie.
He had confessed to everything, and he couldnât escape the consequences. Why would he still out of his way to protect Sarah?
What was there about Sarah that would make him want to protect her?
But if Sarah did tip off Blake, what implications did that hold?

Imogen pressed on. âHave you uncovered any findings from your investigation? Are you leaning toward any particular conclusion?â
Frank contemplated and replied, âLeo and Sarah have some connection. But as of now, we havenât come across concrete evidence pointing to Sarahâs direct involvement.â
âAlright. Can I visit Sarah tomorrow?â Imogen inquired.
Chapter 328.2
She was eager to hear what Sarah had to say.
âSure.â
âThank you,â Imogen replied before hanging up the phone.
She felt somewhat disoriented.
Could Leo be the mastermind?
Was he attempting to shift some blame onto Sarah to lessen his punishment?
During her photography class that evening, Imogen was somewhat absentâminded.
At the end of the class, Yohan messaged her privately. [Did you skip class today? I didnât see you participate in the group chat.]
Imogen paused briefly, then responded. [I attended class today.]
Yohan: [Do you need help with anything?]
Imogen hesitated momentarily and replied to him. [Hann, do you know if the interrogation results have been disclosed?]
Yohan: [Iâm not sure. After turning Jeff over to the authorities, I havenât kept tabs on it. Has the interrogation outcome been made public? Whatâs happening?]
Indeed, besides helping her capture Jeff, this case had little significance to Yohan. There was no reason for him to monitor it closely.
Imogen contemplated and then briefly mentioned the inconsistency between Leo and Jeffâs testimonies. [If you were in my shoes, what do you believe the truth might be?]
Yohan: [Youâve already reached your conclusion deep down. Youâre hesitant to embrace the police investigation results, and youâd prefer to believe that Sarah is the mastermind, with Leo following closely behind. Am I correct?]
Imogen pursed her lips and replied hesitantly. [Yes.]
Humankinds were prone to emotions.
Sarah had targeted and harmed Imogen on multiple occasions. Imogen hoped that Sarah was the mastermind and deserved a harsher punishment.
On the other hand, Leo had shown kindness to her over the years. She hoped he was merely an accomplice earning a more lenient sentence.
These feelings were understandable.
However, Imogen was concerned that reality might not align with her hopes.
Yohan: [When did Leo turn himself in?]
Imogen answered his question. Yohan: [The timing does appear rather coincidental, right before Jeff arrived in New York City.]
Imogen lowered her gaze and contemplated for a moment.
She also found it a remarkable coincidence, not ruling out the possibility that Troy had prior knowledge of Jeffâs information and intentionally delaying it to give Leo a chance for a more favourable outcome.
Yohan: [Did Troy accompany Leo to the police station? When did Troy become aware of all this? From what I know, Leo couldnât come up with such a solid and reasonable testimony on his own. If heâs fabricating it, I believe Troy must have played a role.]

Yohan: [Of course, this is merely my speculation. After all, Troy was your ex, and you should know his character.]
Imogen lowered her gaze and contemplated again. Yohanâs comments did hold some validity. The question lingered in Imogenâs mind when Troy discovered the link between Leo and her fatherâs death.
