Chapter 313.1 Did She Still Love Troy(1)

At this moment, the waiter knocked on the door and began to serve the dishes one by one.

Troy picked up his fork and changed the subject, suggesting, “Time to dine.”

The delicious smell filled the room as the stewed lamb was served to Imogen. It mixed well with the other flavors, not standing out too much.

Troy saw Imogen picking at the braised lamb with her fork and asked, “Is it tasty?”

“If you’d like, you can give it a try.”

Troy reached out with his fork and picked up a piece of the lamb.

He noticed a strong smell coming from the lamb as he brought it closer to his mouth.

He took a bite, chewed stiffly, closed his eyes briefly, and swallowed.

“So… How is it?”

Imogen was not optimistic based on his facial expression.

“It’s okay,” Troy answered with a straight face.

“If you don’t like it, you don’t have to force yourself,” Imogen commented.

But this comment clearly bothered Troy.

After finishing that piece, he picked up another one.

Midway through their meal, Imogen looked at Troy and called, “Troy.”

“Yeah?” Troy raised his gaze.

“Thank you.” Imogen said sincerely.

“What are you thanking me for?”

“Even though you went behind my back and made an arrangement with Sarah without informing me, I still want to express my gratitude…”

Troy was surprised and looked down.

He kept her real identity secret to protect her, but he had personal reasons for hiding the fact that she had a baby.

He worried that if she remembered and the kid was from someone she liked, she might leave

him.

It would be best if this matter could remain a secret for the rest of their lives.

Otherwise, he wasn’t sure if she would accuse him of allowing her child to remain lost and unaccounted for.

He would handle it once she found out for certain.

“You’re welcome,” said Troy, switching the subject. “You were saying it might not be anything. Do you believe it now?”

“Is it not okay, then?”

Troy smiled at her subtle expressions and said, “Okay.”

What a hypocrite!

In reality, she had already believed it in her heart, was deeply touched, and pretended not to believe it, just to tease him.

Dinner ended, and the driver drove them back.

Imogen was the first to be dropped off. She left the car at the entrance of her apartment and said goodbye to Troy.

Troy said, “Tomorrow morning, I’ll come to get you, and we’ll take Grace to school.”

“Alright.”

Imogen arrived home to find Charlie on the couch, wearing a face mask and scrolling through her phone.

When Imogen left in the morning, Charlie realized she had arranged to meet with Yohan.

Imogen smiled and said, “No, I was held up by something else.”

Charlie sighed and complained, “I wanted to go out today and sleep all day, but my plan got ruined.”

“What happened?”

Charlie pointed upstairs and said, “The renovation just started today.”

Imogen asked, “Is there someone moving in upstairs?”

“It feels that way. The construction noise is causing me a headache.”

“It will get better after a while. If it becomes too unbearable, you can always return home for a few days.”

“Sigh…”

After talking to Charlie, Imogen did yoga, showered, and then laid in bed, playing on her phone before sleeping.

She shut her eyes and allowed herself to relax.

For some reason, she couldn’t fall asleep tonight.

In the afternoon, Sarah’s words echoed in her mind. “You have Troy to protect you, of course, you can do whatever you want…”

Sarah implied that Troy had a deep affection for her.

It’s true that Troy made a deal with Sarah for her benefit and stopped pursuing revenge for his grandpa.

He went to negotiate with Sarah again because he didn’t want her to be mistreated as Sarah’s

assistant.

Imogen turned over and sighed.

She recalled how Troy had supported her throughout her travels after her divorce, offering assistance multiple times.
