Chapter 228
Sir Your Wife Already Signed the Divorce Paper
Chapter 228 I Wonât Pester You Anymore
She just wanted to come to the bathroom to tidy up her clothes but never expected to see such a scene when she came out. Imogen thought, âI am so unlucky.â
With unspeakable irritability in Imogenâs heart, she turned around and left.
Seeing Imogenâs figure, Troy immediately chased after her.
âTroy!â
Charlene grabbed Troyâs arm and wanted to say something more, but Troy directly threw her
away.
âImogen, welcome back.â
In the lobby lounge area, Erik looked at Imogenâs figure with a smile.
Imogen narrowly smiled, âSorry, I have something to do, so I have to go.â
âIs someone coming to pick you up?â asked Erik.
âNo,â answered Imogen.
Erik immediately stood up. âImogen, can I see you off?â
Imogen subconsciously wanted to refuse but then changed her words. âOkay.â
Erik couldnât hide his joy. âThen Iâll talk to waiters and ask them to arrange a car for us.â
âOkay,â said Imogen.
When Troy walked into the hall, he saw the leaving figures of Imogen and Erik side by side. He stood in the distance with a frigid expression. A cold atmosphere shrouded his whole body.
Troyâs eyes turned gloomy, and his fists clenched tightly, creaking.
âHow dared Erik get his hands on Imogen?â Troy thought.
The car stopped at the gate of the apartment.
Imogen got out of the car wrapped in a down jacket.
Erik also followed. âImogen, do you want me to see you to the door?â
Imogen smiled and shook her head lightly. âNo, thanks. Let the staff take you home quickly. Donât waste their time.â
Erik smiled embarrassedly and got back into the car. âThen I am going to leave.â
He thought that buying a car should be on the agenda as soon as possible.
âByeâbye.â
Imogen waved her hand, turned around and entered an apartment.
The night in January was chilly. With the tip of the nose red with cold, she walked quickly into the apartment with her arms folded.
Suddenly, she paused.
Troy lazily leaned against the wall at the elevator entrance with a cigarette in his hand. He
exhaled a hazy smoke ring with his lips parted slightly.
Hearing the sound of footsteps, Troy looked up, with his gloomy gaze on Imogen.
âWhat are you doing here?â

âWhat do you think?â Troy asked in a deep voice.
âWhat? I donât know. You asked me to accompany you to the reception, so I did. I donât know what I did to make you so dissatisfied that you came here.â Imogen raised her eyebrows.
Troy laughed angrily, âYou still remember that you should accompany me at the reception, donât you?â
Imogen shrugged easily. âIs there any question?â
âYou chatted and laughed with another man at the reception, and you even left without telling me. Isnât this a question?â Troy said in a deep voice, suppressing the anger that surged up in his heart.
Imogen laughed when she heard Troyâs accusation against her. She unrestrainedly laughed as if it was ridiculous. âYou are angry because of this, right?â
Even angrier, Troy gritted his teeth and said, âCanât I think like that?â
Imogen withdrew her smile and looked at Troy coldly. âDo you still remember what happened at the charity dinner last time?â
Troyâs expression froze, and his lips twitched slightly.
The anger was completely extinguished as if a basin of cold water poured down on Troyâs heart, leaving it full of cold dampness.
Seeing Troy keep silent, Imogen took a step forward and said slowly with vigor, âAt the dinner party, you talked and laughed with Sarah. You are a talented man, and she is a beautiful woman. There was a happy conversation between you. You didnât tell me either that you left with her, so what right do you have to accuse me?â
With his face pale, Troy remained silent and didnât even realize that the cigarette butt burnt his index finger.
âHow couldnât you utter one word? Troy, you

have to pay back for what you did before!â Imogen
When Imogen was about to walk in, Troy suddenly hugged her behind, with his arms tightly around her waist. Troy whispered to her, âIâm so sorry, Imogen.â
âLet me go!â Imogen wanted to prise his finger, but it didnât work.
âImogen, I really love you so much. You donât know that when I saw you walking with another man, how jealous and uncomfortable I feltâ¦â
Imogen sneered, âTroy, it doesnât make sense. Do you know what love is? Love is giving but not possession! I already have someone I like and am about to start a new life. How come you canât let me go? Do you want to pester me all my life if I donât agree to remarry you?â
Troy was petrified, with an intense pain in his heart as if a knife stabbed hard in it and repeatedly stirred to make it blood.
He looked down at Imogen sadly, his voice extremely hoarse, as if he had swallowed a handful of sand. âItâs Erik?â
Troy thought, âHow could she like Erik? How could Erik match her?â
âYes,â answered Imogen.
With a bitter smile and a hint of pleading, Troy said in his low voice, âImogen, donât lie to me
anymore. How could you like Erik?â
âTsk!â Imogen sneered, âMr. Marshall, how can you be so confident? I really like Erik, and I didnât lie to you! He is young, handsome, and motivated, so why canât I like him?â
Troy inevitably panicked as if a crack appeared in his heart. âYou are not afraid that he would do as Jeremy didâ¦â
âNo, he grew up abroad and didnât know my identity when he met me,â said Imogen.
âI asked you before whether there was someone you liked, and you said âyesâ. But why did you change your mind so quickly?â There was some impatience in Troyâs tone.
âI also told you that the person doesnât like me, so why must I always keep one to love?â Said Imogen.
âBut Erik is not good enough to match you!â Said Troy.
âItâs enough that I think he can match me. If he has no money to support me, I will support him. Anyway, Mr. Marshall, you are generous to give me so much money after our divorce, so Itâs a waste not to use it.â
After a few seconds of silence, Troy said hoarsely with only a glimmer of hope, âImogen, youâre trying to enrage me on purpose, right?â
âWhy do I enrage you?â Imogen raised her eyebrows. âAs for me, you are just an exâhusband who I already parted. If it wasnât for the sake of Grace, did you think I would see you? Donât take yourself too seriously. Did you know why did I reject Grace in the car today? Because I didnât want to continue to entangle with you! For the sake of Grace, you should consciously stay away from me! Otherwise, donât blame me for alienating Grace cruelly!â
Troy couldnât grasp a breath from the pain in his heart, as if he had been punched hard.
âReally⦠there is no chance for me at all?â
âNo!â Imogen replied firmly.
Troy closed his eyes, with his arms silently loose. He took two steps back and said in a low voice, âI
see.â
Imogen had someone she liked and had moved forward into a new life.
But Troy still stayed where he was, unwilling to give up Imogen and still holding a glimmer of hope.
As Troy woke up from his dream and opened his eyes, it turned out that he was already on the verge of the cliff.
Standing where he was, Troy took a deep breath and endured the sharp pain in his heart and the soreness in his throat with red eyes. âI wonât pester you in the future.
âYouâre right. I donât understand love. No one has taught me what love is since I was a child. So, I didnât understand it until I lost you. But itâs too late.
âImogen, if there is no me, you will always be happy in the future. Then, I will leave willingly. âImogen, you must be a happy person.â
