Sir Your Wife Already Signed the Divorce Paper
Chapter 111 Mismatched Love
Chapter 111 Mismatched Love
Troy looked up and exchanged a distant glance with Imogen. âI donât have any special plans.â Emily expressed surprise. âDidnât Sarah just come back?â
âYes.â
âSo, youâre not divorcing her?â
âEmily, I have my plans.â
âIâm just worried youâll be wronged. Youâre the best child in the Marshall family. Your wife should at least be from a prestigious family. Imogen is not at your level. How can you be proud of such a wife? Henry also leaves people speechless. He doesnât consider anyoneâs background and just brings them into the family, even trying to match you two. Itâs all so mismatched!â
âEmily, I donât feel wronged. Please donât bring this up again.â
Emily looked at him disapprovingly. âDidnât you say you would divorce her?â
âEmily!â
Troy cast a wary glance at Imogen.
Imogen probably didnât hear.
âOk, youâve grown up and have your thoughts now.â Emily turned and left the living room.
Troy returned to Imogenâs side and sat down. âEmily has always been like this, willful for decades. Donât mind.â
Imogen smiled. âI know. We only meet once or twice a year. I wonât mind.â
In the evening, Troy went to pick up Grace from school in place of Emily.
Imogen didnât want to be alone with Emily at home, so she also went with Troy. On the way, Imogen asked, âHow old is Grace? Which grade is she in?â
Troy replied, âSheâs four this year, still in kindergarten.â
Imogen raised her eyebrow. âFour years old?â
Imogen hadnât expected Emily to adopt such a young girl.
âYes, so Grace calls Emily grandma and me uncle.â
The car stopped at the kindergartenâs parking lot. Dressed in a suit, Troy looked tall and handsome with his broad shoulders and slim waist.
Troy rested one hand on the car roof, and as he moved, the wellâfitted suit outlined his shoulders, revealing his toned muscles.
The charm of a man was always subtly displayed.
The area where Emily lived was a gathering place for locals in Los Angeles.
Many of the students and parents at this kindergarten were of local descent.
Some familiar parents proactively greeted Troy.
Children lined up and exited the kindergarten as the school let out, running toward their parents.
Troy carefully identified the children when a little pink cannonball suddenly rushed over, hugging his legs and looking up, shouting, âTroy! You came to see me!â
Troy bent down and effortlessly picked up Grace. âYes, I came to see you. Did you miss me?â
Grace hugged Troyâs neck, gave Troy a peck on the cheek, and said childishly, âYes.â
Troy smiled and opened the carâs back door, but Grace said, âI want to sit in the front with Troy.â âYouâre too young. You can sit in the front when youâre older.â
Grace retorted with her big round eyes. âThen you have to save the front seat for me!â
Troy smiled and didnât reply, placing Grace in the back seat.
As Grace settled down, Imogen was seated in the front passenger seat, turned around, and said with a smile, âHello, Grace.â
Upon seeing Imogen, Graceâs eyes widened in surprise. âWho are you? Why are you sitting in Troyâs front seat?â
Graceâs puffedâup expression amused Imogen. âIâm Troyâs wife.â
Grace looked incredulous.
âDonât believe me? Ask Troy.â
Grace looked at Troy, who had just settled into the driverâs seat and pouted. âTroy, is this woman your wife?â
Troy fastened his seatbelt and nodded as he looked in the rearview mirror. âYes, sheâs my should call her Imogen.â
wife. You
Grace looked heartbroken and sighed like a little adult, âUncle, I donât like you anymore! Iâm not talking to you! Hmph!â
Imogen chuckled, unbuckled her seatbelt, and moved to the back seat, âIâll sit with Grace.â
The precocious little girl glanced at her. âYouâre my rival in love!â
Amused by her solemn expression, Imogen replied, âYes, Iâm your rival.â
Just then, Troyâs phone rang. He put on his Bluetooth headset to answer, âWhat happened?â
His voice suddenly became stern and questioning.
Imogen noticed his furrowed brows in the rearview mirror.
Whatever was said on the other end of the call, Troy responded firmly, âFine! Donât make excuses.
Just stabilize the situation. Iâll handle it when I get there!â
After hanging up, he removed his headset and tossed it into the storage box.
âWhat happened?â Imogen asked.
âThere was a mistake made by an employee at the Paris branch. I need to go handle it,â Troy
replied, looking at Imogen through the rearview mirror.
âHow long will you be gone?â
âTwo days. What do you plan to do? Come with me?â
âThe holiday is almost over. Iâll head back to New York City first.â
âAlright, Iâll have my secretary pick you up when you arrive.â
âOkay.â
âWhereâs New York City?â
The little eavesdropper beside them chimed in.
Troy chuckled, âGrace, I thought you werenât talking to me?â
âHmph.â Grace lifted her chin. âI didnât ask you. I asked Imogen.â
Imogen smiled at her mischievous expression and glanced at Troy. âNew York City is in America. Itâs where your uncle and grandma come from. Maybe one day, your grandma can take you there to visit.â
The little girl nodded thoughtfully. âDefinitely.â
Childrenâs moods changed quickly. Grace said she would ignore Troy, but on the way, she couldnât help but share with Troy the exciting things that happened at school.
Once they got to know each other, it became clear that Grace was quite the chatterbox.
When they returned to Emilyâs villa, Imogen had taken Grace down and led her into the house. As they walked, Grace suddenly stopped and looked up at Imogen.
âWhy did you stop?â
âWhy are you so pretty?â Grace asked, tilted her head with a troubled expression.
Hearing the childâs compliment, Imogen smiled gently. âYouâre pretty too, Grace.â
Grace shook her head, and looked distressed. âI am pretty, but youâre older. How can I snatch uncle away from you?â
Amused by her adultâlike worries, Imogen replied, âTroy will always be your uncle.â
âBut I want to be his wife.â
Imogen knew that children speak without thinking, but she still glanced at Troyâs retreating figure twice, her gaze sharp as a knife.
This sly fox was so charming!
Soon after, Grace whispered, âI think Grandma doesnât want you to be Troyâs wife.â
Imogen was surprised by the childâs words. âHow did you figure that out?â
Grace pursed her lips. âDuring the summer break, Troy came to see another woman. I wanted to go with him, but he refused.â
She looked around sneakily. âGrandma likes that woman.â
âThank you for telling me, Grace. Youâre so smart. But this is our matter. Weâll handle it.â
âAh, handsome men are always fickle. My uncle is no exception.â The little girl looked troubled. Imogen chuckled and patted her forehead.
The other woman Grace mentioned must be Sarah.
Imogen had known that Troy visited Sarah in July. Hearing Grace mention it now didnât stir any emotions in her.
