Chapter Two.
Alpha's Awaited Mate *Re-uploaded*
Leon
"He's not in the picture. Never has and never will be."
Her voice rang in my head every second of the day. What did she mean he wasn't in the picture? Did he die? Were they together? Did they love each other? Were they friends? If not, what were they? How did she get pregnant with her daughter?
Questions after questions troubled me the whole day. I knew these questions were making my wolf mad because he kept shouting at me to shut up and to stop overthinking it. That our mate will tell us everything one day. Sooner or later. But we'll get to know the truth.
I drove towards my house at the end of the day. The house in the city was for whenever I was here for business. Otherwise, I lived in the pack house with everyone.
I didn't tell them that I finally found their Luna. I wanted to meet my mate's daughter first. I didn't know how the pack, how my parents would react when they find out that their Luna is a human. That she already has a daughter.
My parents would be shocked at the very least. Mum would be displeased by my mate's behavior by getting pregnant, I know that much.
She'll have to accept her in the end. Mother or not, we've been separated from our mate for far too long. My wolf said and I nodded in agreement.
After reaching home in five minutes, I grabbed an apple from the kitchen and walked into my room. Flopping myself down on the king-sized bed, I stared at the white ceiling above me. Taking a bite out of the apple, I was about to let my mind wander off again when my wolf snapped.
Don't even think about it!
The next day, I waited patiently while Jennifer was gone to pick her daughter up. I was a little nervous, I'll admit. I didn't know what to expect in the coming ten minutes.
I stood hidden in the shadowed corner of my office when the sound of a baby talking came. I wanted to see how they were together when they thought no one was in the room. The door soon opened and Jennifer stood there, wearing a black jacket and a pencil skirt.
"Mr. Wol- Leon?" She called but I didn't reply, no matter how much I wanted to. A little girl ran in. Her hair was the same colour like Jennifer's. She seemed about five years old. It really made me wonder when did my mate get pregnant. Her eyes were violet as well, and when I studied her closely, I saw that there wasn't a trace of her father that could be found. She was a child version of my mate.
Her violet eyes were looking at my large office in wonder. She walked back to Jennifer with her eyes wide.
"You work here, mommy?" She asked and Jennifer shook her head with a smile.
"It's not my office, sweetheart. My office is outside. But yes, I do work here." My mate replied softly and ran her hand through her daughter's hair. Bella grinned at her mom, and then started running around the office with a grin, her small arms flying in the air.
"It's so big!" She said in glee and I couldn't help but chuckle.
She's so cute. I said and my wolf nodded in agreement.
She is. And when our mate has our pups, they'll be cute as well. My wolf said and I nodded while Jennifer tried to catch Bella.
"Bella, this isn't our home. Stop running." She said as she chased her and I chuckled when Bella completely ignored her mom.
"You should listen to your mother, Bella." I finally said, stepping out from the shadows as the two bodies froze. They both looked at me with wide eyes while I stepped closer to Bella. My neck ached when I stared down at the small girl with my 6'4 height.
I gave her a smile and then crouched down so that we were at a face to face level and held my hand out to her.
"Hi. I'm Leon." I said to her and she looked at me for a second before putting her small hand in my large one.
"Hello. I'm Isabella." She said and I smiled.
"I think the name 'Princess' suits you better. Don't you?" I asked and she blushed slightly. Oh, it was a joy to discover she had her mother's traits. My office phone started ringing and my mate excused herself before walking out of the office to pick the call. I returned my attention to Isabella.
"How old are you?" I asked and she smiled, holding her hand up to show her five fingers. "You're five? Big girl, aren't you?" I said but she shook her head, giving me a confused look.
"I'm a little girl. My mommy is a big girl." She said and I chuckled. Indeed, she was.
"Would you like to sit with me on the big chair?" I asked and she looked at me hesitantly.
"Am I allowed to?" She asked.
Cautious. My wolf thought.
"Of course, you are. This is my office after all." I said and she smiled before nodding. I stood up but kept her hand in mine before walking over to my table. "Do you need help to get up?" I asked but she shook her head. Bending her knees slightly, she jumped up on the chair, but I stilled.
That chair is too high for such a small child. She jumped on it easily. I said and my wolf went weary. I sniffed the air for her scent.
Something is wrong. My wolf said and I nodded in agreement. There was something weird mixed with her scent. Lilacs were her main scent, like my mate's is jasmine. Baby powder was there as well, but I couldn't really identify the other scent coming from her.
"Bella, what are you doing?" My mate asked as she entered the room. Bella looked at her uncertainly.
"He said I could sit." Bella said quietly.
"It's alright, Jennifer. I offered her the chair." I said and my mate looked at me wearily before sighing.
"Come, Bella. You have to do your homework. I'll get right back to work, Leon." She added and I nodded. Bella jumped off my chair with the same ease as she got on it, landing on her feet lightly before running over to her mom.
There's something going on. We need to find out what. My wolf said and I nodded.
We really do.
"Is there anything else needed to be done today, Leon?" My mate asked but I shook my head.
"No. You can go home now, Jennifer. It was a delight to meet your daughter." I said and she smiled.
"Thank you. Goodnight, Leon." She said and I nodded.
"Goodnight, Jennifer." I said and my mate left the room with a nod. I waited five minutes before getting up from my desk and following my mate's scent towards the car park in front of the building where my office is. I got into my car and rolled the window down to keep track of Jennifer's scent. I quickly caught hold of it once I started driving and followed it in the direction it went.
It was half an hour drive when my mate's car came to a halt in front of a small house. It looked like it was a house meant for two people. I looked around and saw a small forest behind her house, being separated by a large back garden. I quietly got out of my car and walked towards the forest.
Bones cracked as I transformed into my wolf. My tan coloured fur finally free after two days. I scouted the forest a little, making sure there wasn't any threat before making my way back towards the house.
I stayed in the shadow of the trees, watching two silhouettes roaming their way around the house. The faint sound of my mate laughing came, tingling my senses. I grinned at the sound.
Suddenly the back door opened, and I froze in shock when a small brown pup appeared. It was a wolf pup. It was yapping and soon, my mate appeared in the back and sat down on the entrance of the door. She tossed a ball to the pup and it caught it in its mouth before taking it back to my mate. She took the ball from the pup's mouth, petting her head and the pup ran away from her. Jennifer tossed the ball again, and the same action repeated. Jennifer would toss the ball, the pup would catch it, at times missed, but then brought the ball back to her.
"Alright, that's enough playing for tonight. Come here." My mate said and spread her arms out, making the pup yap again before it ran over to my mate and jumped, resting its front paws on her shoulders.
Bones cracked. Fur retracted. And I felt my heart stop beating.
The pup transformed into Bella.
She was a werewolf.
