Chapter Thirteen.

Alpha's Awaited Mate *Re-uploaded*

Leon

"Yes?" I asked, not believing what I just heard. Even my wolf had gone still. Jennifer gave me a small, wobbly smile through her tears.

"Yes. No one has done for me in my entire life what you've done for me in just a few days." She said but I frowned.

"You aren't saying yes in a way to repay me, are you?" I asked feeling a little skeptical of her reasoning. She shook her head and took a deep breath.

"Leon, before I was... Before I was raped-" I growled loudly and Jennifer shrunk back. I immediately tried to comfort her.

"I'm sorry. Neither me nor my wolf like the thought of you being hurt." I said and she gave me a hesitant smile.

"It's alright... But as I was saying, before I was raped, my life hadn't been the best. My parents were always busy... My mother was a surgeon while my father was a businessman, so it's easy to say I had a privileged life according to most... But I never felt like it. I was always left alone with the nannies my parents had hired while they left for their work. In school... I was bullied for being smart." She said and took a deep breath. My heart broke at what my mate had gone through in her life before I had met her. I cupped her face with one hand and titled it up towards me, giving her a smile that told her how proud I was of her.

"You're really strong to go all through that alone." I said but she shook her head.

"Many kids go through it. I'm just one of those lot." She said, denying herself the credit I was giving her. I let it slide for now.

"What happened after you were..." I trailed off, not being able to say the word.

"I told my parents. They were horrified, but then they started spending more time with me. Making sure I was home and safe and all. But then we fought... When I got to know that I was pregnant with Bella. They both wanted me to abort her. Mom even went as far as saying that she has a friend, a doctor friend, who can do it for me. But I refused."

"Why?" I couldn't help but ask. She gave me a small smile.

"Because whatever happened that night wasn't Bella's fault. It wasn't her fault I got pregnant with her. I think it's the fault of being at the wrong place at the wrong time. And that guys fault. Bella was innocent in all this so who am I to go ahead and murder an innocent?" She asked rhetorically and I smiled, squeezing her hand that was still in mine. She continued. "When my parents realised I wasn't going to give up on Bella, they kicked me out... but for a few days. I was staying in a motel with the money I had when they came and found me, apologising for their behavior. We've been close since then, but it still feels like there's something missing..." She whispered the last word.

"And then you found me." I said with a small smile.

"And then I found you." She said with a smile of her own. "It's only been a week at the most yet you've managed to spin my world on its axis. It's all good, but..."

"It's going a little fast for you?" I asked and she bit her bottom lip, nodding hesitantly. I smiled. "It's alright, Jennifer. I know it's going to take some time for you to adjust to everything. And I'll wait. Even when I'm old and have a grey head." I said and she chuckled.

"But can I ask you for something? It's not much, I promise." I said and she gave me a curious look.

"What?" She asked in a whisper.

"Can I have a hug?" I asked and she froze for a second but laughed. I chuckled with her and moved back slightly, only to stretch my arms for her as an invitation. She chuckled and then moved. I sighed in content when she hugged me, breathing in the scent of jasmine as her head came to rest on the crook of my neck. Her arms came up and wrapped around my back while I wrapped my arms around her waist, pulling her closer.

Even though the line is very cliché, we fit like two missing pieces of a puzzle. Just perfect. I felt my wolf purr in delight of having our mate in my arms. I could feel our hearts pound loudly against our chests. It felt like time stopped for us. To let us just have this moment.

"Leon?" Jennifer whispered.

"Yes?" I asked.

"Too tight." She breathed out. My eyes snapped open and I released her.

"I'm sorry. I didn't even know I did it." I said, running my hand at the back of my head sheepishly. For some reason, I always felt like a sixteen-year-old with her. Jennifer chuckled.

"It's alright." She said but then suddenly laughed. I smiled at her, feeling confused about what she was laughing about as the sound of her laughter tickled my senses.

"What is it?" I asked.

"You had called me mate before the interview. It wasn't a mistake, was it?" She asked and I felt myself flush slightly.

"No. I thought you were a werewolf at first." I said but then suddenly her laugher died down, her face becoming dark. I frowned. "What is it?"

"Does it matter to you? Me being a human or werewolf?" She asked and I sighed under my breath.

"No. If anything, both my wolf and I were in awe of you being a human rather than a werewolf." I said and she blushed. I smiled. "You do realise that now that you've unofficial lot accepted me, you'll be the Luna of this pack?" I asked and she visibly swallowed before nodding.

"I do... What do you mean by 'unofficially'?" She asked.

"What's your full name?" I asked and she frowned but replied.

"Jennifer Grace Jenkins." She said and I smiled.

"Beautiful. But just say what I'm about to after me. Alright with you?" I asked and she nodded. I continued. "I, Leon Alexander Wolf, accept you, Jennifer Grace Jenkins, as my mate." I said and she took a deep breath, hesitating slightly.

"I, Jennifer Grace Jenkins," I gave her an encouraging look when she seemed nervous. "Accept you, Leon Alexander Wolf, as my mate." She whispered. That's when I felt it. The mate bond strengthening between us. Jennifer gasped at the feeling and I gave her a smile telling her that everything is alright. She let out a breath and gave me a nervous smile.

"Thank you, Jennifer. For accepting me so soon." I said softly and shook my head when she tried to say something. I held my hand out to her. "Come. I have to show you something." I said and she put her hand in mine without hesitation. I smiled at her and pulled her out of the office.

I walked us towards the other side of the hall. Jennifer was quiet the whole time, silently trusting me. Some feelings are hard to describe to anyone. Sometimes even to your mind. But the happiness I felt at the moment could be described as being on cloud twenty. I was that happy. My wolf was bouncing around in happiness, yapping as he did like a kid who ate too much candy. But I couldn't blame him for feeling like that.

"You ready?" I asked as I stood in front of the door. Jennifer nodded and gasped when I opened the door. Her hand let go of my own and I instantly missed the contact between our skin. But seeing her walking in the room in a daze and amazement made me feel better about the loss of contact.

"Wow. This is so amazing." Jennifer breathed out as her hands trailed on the spines of the books in the aisles. Yes, we were in the library right now.

"We've got books that are more than a hundred years old. But this isn't what I wanted to show you." I said and started moving towards the center of the library.

"Can I come here some other time?" She asked as she came up beside me. I gave her a smile.

"Of course. What's mine is yours, Jennifer. Though, am I detecting a hint of an avid reader there?" I asked and she chuckled.

"You can just say bookworm, but yes. I love reading books." She said and I chuckled. "What is that?" She asked as we stood in front of the mahogany desk that was in the library.

"A map of our territory. I'm not asking you to learn all this, but I'd just like you to know more about the pack." I said and she nodded hesitantly. I led her closer to the table and started telling her everything about the pack and territory. She was hesitant at first, but then I knew she was getting fascinated about everything more as every minute passed. I told her the history of the pack. How my many times great grandfather formed the pack with just three werewolf's to begin with. And they were his wife and his two sons.

She listened to me with her complete concentration and I loved that I had it. Her violet eyes gleamed with interest as I continued on with my story. But I chuckled when she let out a small yawn. She gave me a sheepish smile.

"It's alright. I can tell you the rest tomorrow." I said and she shook her head.

"No, no. It's alright. I'm good." She said. I gave her a smile.

"Jennifer, Bella might be waiting for you." I said, knowing that using Bella would work. Jennifer gave a defeated sigh.

"Alright, alright. Goodnight, Leon." She said and got up from the chair she was sitting on. I stood up as well and hesitantly cupped her face. I gave her a soft smile and leaned down, placing a kiss to her forehead. When I pulled back, I saw her looking at me with slightly wide eyes but then she gave me a soft smile.

"Goodnight, Jennifer."
