Chapter Ten.
Alpha's Awaited Mate *Re-uploaded*
Leon
As I was thinking of different ways to tell Jennifer the truth, my office phone started ringing. I sighed and picked it up.
"Wolf."
"How dare you disrespect my daughter!?" A voice shouted and I pinched the bridge of my nose in irritation of the whole situation.
"Alpha Lenox, I'm sure your daughter didn't tell you how she almost destroyed my living room. And I'm also sure that your daughter didn't tell you how she kept shouting at my guests that she is the Luna of my pack and my mate when she is neither of those." I said and Derek Lenox went silent. I continued. "All the Alpha's know that only my true mate will be the Luna of my pack and I'm really astonished at how you just agreed to my father's decision." I said and heard him sigh.
"Look, Wolf, I'm sorry about my daughter's behavior but you're not understanding. Our packs combined could be the best on the world. You haven't found your mate and I hardly doubt she's alive." I growled loudly, making him stop at that sentence.
"My mate is very much alive. Stop assuming she's dead just because you want my pack." I said and hung up on him. I sighed and sat on my chair, throwing my head back on it. I closed my eyes and let out a loud, exhausted sigh, letting my mind wonder on how to tell Jennifer the truth.
There were so many things to consider before I told her the truth. The first is her reaction. Would she reject or accept me? Would she be able to cope with the pack and the business? I couldn't imagine what would happen to me if she didn't accept me as her mate. It's only been a few days yet she was the only thing I could think about. Her, and our kiss. I wanted to feel it again. Wanted to feel her lips against mine. Wanted to feel what it would be like to mate with her. Wanted to feel how it was to mark your mate.
The scent of jasmine suddenly filled my nostrils, stopping my mind from wondering and worrying. Soon, a knock came on the door, along with a voice.
"Leon?" Jennifer called and I sighed.
"Come in." I called back and the door opened. Jennifer hesitantly stepped in.
"Is everything alright?" She asked and I nodded, motioning her to take the seat in front of me and she silently walked forward and sat down.
"Yes. Are you liking the place?" I asked and felt hope blossom within me when she nodded with a small smile.
"Yes. You really have a beautiful pack and home, Leon." She said and I smiled.
"Thank you. Do you like your room?" I asked and she nodded again.
"Yes. So, does Bella. I just wanted to thank you, Leon. It hasn't been long since we met yet you're doing everything for us." Jennifer suddenly teared up and I felt my heart break at the sight of those unshed tears. "I can't ever repay you." She said and I quickly got up from my seat and walked around the desk. I took the other seat and took her hands in mine; ignoring the heat and tingles I was getting from the contact of our skin.
"Jennifer, there's nothing to thank me about. I'm doing what a responsible Alpha should do. Don't cry, please." I comforted and she blinked her tears away.
"I'm sorry. I haven't had people being so kind to me." She said and I frowned, but decided to let it be for now.
"I'm holding a ceremony tonight. For you and Bella to officially join our pack." I said and she frowned in confusion.
"Me? But I'm not a werewolf." She said and I gave her hands a reassuring squeeze.
"I know, but you're Bella's mother. It gives you equal rights to join the pack, Jennifer." I said and she smiled a little.
"Thank you."
Excited murmers, curious and expectant looks. That's all I was getting that night. The pack was gathered in the training grounds once again, the whole place was decorated for the party being held after. I was in a grey suit since this ceremony has always required a formal dressing.
After that talk with Jennifer in my office, Alicia, my sister, had barged into the office, demanding Jennifer to be handed over to her so that she could get my mate ready for the ceremony. I still hadn't seen her since. Partly because I had locked myself in my office, working as well as thinking of ways to tell Jennifer the truth.
My parents as well as the former beta family was sitting on the table closest to the stage where I was standing, waiting for Alicia to bring Jennifer and Bella out of the mansion.
Just then Alicia came other of the mansion, giving me; a small nod and I nodded back at her, looking back at the pack.
"Tonight, we celebrate." My voice echoed through the grounds. "Because we have just not one, but two new people joining our pack." I said and on cue, I heard the door of the mansion open. I turned around and an excited yet nervous Bella stepped out. Her hair was tied into a neat braid. She was wearing a white dress that had pink outlines of butterflies drawn on it. I gave her an encouraging smile and held my hand out. She smiled and ran over to me. I helped her up on the stage, looking back at the door as it opened again.
She was a vision in violet. The colour brought her eyes out even more. Her hair was in an updo but had small locks hanging just above her collarbone. The dress she was wearing was a full-length one-off shoulder dress, showing an exotic looking shoulder.
Wait, how can a shoulder look exotic? I asked myself and felt my wolf howl in laughter.
When I paid attention to her dress even more, I realised how sneaky Alicia had actually been. My eyes widened slightly and felt the atmosphere change in the ground as the pack also realised the same thing I did.
She was wearing the Luna's dress.
Let me explain. When the Luna belonged to another pack, it was a tradition to make them wear the same violet dress Jennifer was currently wearing during the ceremony to join them in our pack. It was a tradition that had been in our pack for generations. My mom had worn the same dress when she joined our pack.
Jennifer's eyes were looking at me nervously, gauging my reaction but I tried to keep myself from letting it be anything more than comforting. She gave me a weak smile and I gave her an encouraging one like I had done with Bella.
"Mommy looks beautiful." Bella said softly.
"She does indeed, Bella." I said, still feeling lost in my mate's beauty.
I held my hand out to her, helping her up on the stage as well.
"You look beautiful." I couldn't help but tell her and she blushed.
"Thank you." She said and I gave her hand a reassuring squeeze, turning back to the pack who were looking at us curiously.
"This is Jennifer," Your Luna. I said through the mind link. "And her daughter, Isabella. Tonight, we celebrate the addition of these two beautiful ladies in our pack." I said playfully. Jennifer blushed even more while Bella giggled at my side. I chuckled and continued. "Please stand there. Yes, right there." I said and Jennifer and Bella stood on the place I had motioned them to stand. They looked at curiosity and I closed my eyes, letting out a breath.
The air around me shifted as both my wolf and I became one. As we both took control of my body. It was the only way a new wolf was allowed to join packs. As one, we both were stronger, more sharp of our surroundings.
Jennifer and Bella gasped when I opened my eyes. It was a sight to see because my outer layer of the iris was light blue, while the centre surrounding the pupil was a darker blue, like when my wolf took over.
"Jennifer and Isabella Jenkins," I said, my voice coming out as mine as well as my wolf's. It was like two people were speaking at once. "Do you swear to protest the pack, it's every member? Do you swear to take care of the pack as if it were your family? Do you swear not to betray any member in any form?" I asked.
"I do." They both said together. I let my wolf take control. He reached out to both of them, as well as Bella's wolf. Not physically, but he targeted their subconscious as well as their conscious, tying them in the bond that formed the pack. They gasped as our hearts tugged as one, as the bond formed between them and I as their Alpha.
With Jennifer, it was a little tougher because she was a human unlike Bella, but as our mate, it joined the three of us. Her, me and my wolf.
I stepped back slightly as the bond formed completely. I looked back at the pack.
"Welcome to our new members! Jennifer and Isabella Jenkins!"
