Chapter Twenty

It was a late Saturday morning, and I’d been restlessly tossing and turning in bed for what felt like forever. A week had passed since my parents returned home, and a week since I’d felt the touch of Kai or Nari.

Frustration was building within me, and I found myself counting down the days until my parents would leave again. Just seven more days.

Upon their arrival, my mother had insisted that I gather a week’s worth of school work and informed my coach that I’d be missing practice.

She’d used my monthly allowance as leverage to drag me to our beach house. I’d gone along with it, only to be ignored by them, just like they did at home.

I’d spent the entire week practicing my cheer routine and texting the group chat. Nari was usually the one to respond, keeping me entertained, but I craved more.

I was yearning for their touch. Not that Kai seemed interested in touching me at the moment. He hadn’t completely ignored me, but he’d been curt with me since Sunday.

I knew he was still upset with me and grappling with his own emotions. I didn’t blame him for wanting more. Being away from them for a week made me realize how strong my feelings were, too.

But I couldn’t let that distract me from my goal of escaping my parents. It had been my focus for so long.

I needed to make Kai and Nari understand that I felt the same way they did, but my reluctance to label our relationship had more to do with my primary goal than with them.

I had a plan to get Kai to loosen up enough to talk.

As I pulled into her driveway, another car was pulling out. Nari’s parents waved at me before driving off down the street.

As I approached the door, I saw Nari already standing there. She was wearing a tank top and biker shorts, her hair thrown up in a high bun.

Nari was stunningly beautiful, and I made a mental note to remind her of that more often. Before I could greet her, Nari grabbed my wrist, pulling me into her house and shutting the door behind us.

“That’s so cute and even better for us. Now we don’t have to keep quiet,” I said, smirking at her.

When we got to her room, I guided her to her bed and placed my duffle bag beside her. “What’s in the bag, Rox?” Nari asked, glancing at the bag.

“So my plan is to make you come as many times as you can handle while Kai watches on a video call,” I said, looking her in the eye and waiting for her reaction.

Nari didn’t flinch, she just looked back at the duffel bag.

“I’m going to call Kai now,” I said, walking over to the open computer on her desk.

I quickly set up the computer, angling it towards the bed so he wouldn’t miss a thing, and opened the video call app. I clicked Call on Kai’s contact and it rang twice before he answered, shirtless.

Kai took in the sight before him and I smirked, speaking before he could.

“Since you’re not with us tonight, we’ve got a little something special for you, sweetheart. Just sit back, enjoy the show, and we’ll chat later,” I told him, blowing him a kiss.

Kai responded by licking his lips and grinning. “Alright, princess, you’ve got my full attention,” he said, leaning back in his chair.

I moved towards Nari, pulling the computer chair along with me.

Once I was standing in front of her, I let go of the chair and wrapped a hand around her neck, pulling her face towards mine until our lips met. Breaking the kiss, I sat down on the chair.
