Chapter 6
Bride Behind The Mask
âIâm, well, your wife now.â The womanâs eyes were pure, sincere, and showed a steadfast calm and tolerance.
Frederick stared at the woman, trying to break down her defenses with his strong aura. However, his efforts were in vain.
He was meeting this woman for the first time, so why couldnât he get mad at her?
So, he could only treat her coldly, making his expression look even more fierce, âYouâre not my wife.â
Marguerite didnât argue, instead, she spread out the marriage documents in her hand, âOur names and identities are written here. Youâre Frederick, right?â
At those words, Sadie, Chuck, and all the servants in the room held their breaths.
This woman, she really didnât know her place.
She dared to call Frederick by his name?
Everyone took a step back, waiting for Frederickâsâexplosion.
However, contrary to everyoneâs expectations, the anticipated storm didnât arrive.
What on earth was going on?
Facing the powerful Frederick, Marguerite showed no fear.
She calmly explained, âI really donât know how I ended up marrying you. I passed out at the hospital while taking care of a relative. When I woke up, I was here. As for this document, Iâm just as clueless.â
Marguerite wasnât lying.
Since the moment she got into the car, she was unconscious. When she woke up, she was already in the guest room, with this document next to her.
She was utterly puzzled because she had no memory of ever going to the registrarâs office.
And the photo on the marriage certificate wasnât actually her. It was her with a mask on.
This was just too strange, wasnât it?
âDonât play dumb, Iâm not buying it.â Frederickâs voice was still filled with dissatisfaction.
Margueriteâsâeyes werenât deliberately wide open, but her eyes were large, so it looked like she had an innocent expression, âIâm not playing dumb, this is really what happened.â
Frederick was rendered speechless.
He was a man of action, but at this moment, he felt helpless.
âYouâre not lying?â
âNo.â
Seeing that this woman was even more tightâlipped than he was, and didnât argue, his hostility towards her gradually faded.
He took the marriage certificate from her hand, looked it over carefully, and then looked up at her, âYouâre Marguerite?â
âYes.â
âGet up and come with me.â
Marguerite was taken aback, âWhere to?â
Frederick glanced at his wristwatch, and said flatly, âWeâre getting divorced.â
Divorce? They were getting divorced already?
She hadnât even figured out what was going on yet!
And the mysterious person who had called her hadnât shown up yet.
If they got divorced this quickly, would that mysterious person still come to save her grandmother?
Marguerite sat on the bed motionless, Frederickâs gaze conveying a hint of impatience, âGet up, donât make me repeat myself.â
Marguerite quickly thought about how to temporarily appease this man.
Sheâs not unwilling to get divorced, itâs just that the mysterious person hadnât messaged her yet, so she couldnât make a hasty decision.
Not long after, Chuck suddenly remembered something, smacked his forehead, âMr. Winston, you canât divorce Ms. Lockwood right now.â
Frederickâs brow furrowed, his gaze sharp as a knife, as if he wanted to cut a piece of flesh from him, âAre you asking for trouble?â
Chuck quickly waved his hands, hastily explaining, âMr. Winston, please calm down. A month ago, Stonebridge City issued a new marriage law, now thereâs a threeâmonth coolingâoff period for divorces. So you and Ms. Lockwood, Iâm afraid youâll have to wait until three months later to get divorced.â
