Master!

Daniel was reprimanded by his father. His grandfather has a serious face while his great grandfather is by his wife’s side holding her hand.

The hospital room was huge but with all his other Grandfather siblings and his Aunties and Uncles and cousins, the room seemed so small.

“You are such dead meat.” His sister whispered.

“Arnella!” Their mother reprimanded her.

Daniel didn’t tell what happened.

They just thought Daniel did something to scare the old lady.

When his grandmother wakes up. She choked into tears.

She didn’t look anywhere else but her husband.

She knows he will always be by her side.

He has been faithful all these years.

He was strong.

He was handsome.

He was everything she ever could wish for.

Her whole life was complete with her by her side.

So she never voiced her wish to go back. She doesn’t want to bother him.

She was scared he would feel burdened or blame himself.

But she is the eldest daughter of their family and she was doted on by her parents and her siblings. How can she be indifferent?

She misses them so much. So much that she cried herself every time her husband wouldn't be able to notice. Maybe she is the reason why her children don't want to hear them talk about their original world. Because she often cries and the children are the ones who witness her cry.

“Wife..”

“Daniel found the Austin. He said he can send us back but we can’t return here.”

She said after calming down.

Everyone in the room stares dagger at Daniel.

Daniel shrunks his head.

In the showbiz world, he is the boss but in the family, he is the youngest son of his father.

“Let’s go back.”

Her husband said seriously.

“We have done all we can for our children. It is time to think for ourselves.” He then looked at everyone.

“You all grow to be more capable as you grow older. We are proud of you. But let us be selfish for the last time.”

He said solemnly.

“This is not our world. This is not our parent’s land. We have to return.”

Their grandfather's sister starts crying. She hugs the two elderly.

They all surrounded them with tears.

The later generation didn’t go in case they suffocate them.

In the end, they all look at Daniel.

“Call this Austin guy.” His grandfather said sternly.

The elderly has been vocal for decades. They wanted to return. But they never believe them so they ignore their pleas. But what if…they are telling the truth? The guilt in their grandfather’s heart would be huge.

But what should be done should be done.

Daniel tried but the call didn’t connect.

“What is happening?” They all look at Daniel.

Daniel wanted to curse.

“Actually…I called him a scammer and told him not to call me…Maybe he…blocks my number.”

The series of disappointing grunts can be heard.

Daniel was so embarrassed.

Xavier was already sleeping. He had an idea his family would panic if he can’t return but the question is for how much?

Kon heard a loud noise nearby.

So he checks on it.

Gerald was also coming back. What he saw and Kon saw are their carriage destroyed.

And the cow being chewed by the wolves.

“Noooo!” Gerald felt cold as he screamed.

He wanted to jump to the carriage but Kon carried him up the tree.

“Put me down! XAVIER!”

“There is nobody there.”

Kon said.

He already felt there was no other breath but the wolves and Gerald.

If Xavier is there….it means he is no longer alive.

Gerald felt his body become weak.

Kon makes sure he won’t jump down. He kicks the carriage to make a wooden weapon and kills four wolves. Three escapes.

Gerald didn’t ask for help as he jumped down and crawled to the destroyed carriage.

There is blood everywhere. He was crying and pulling the wood that was filled with splattered blood thinking it might be his brother.

“What is going on?!” Harvey went out hearing a lot of animal noises outside.

Seeing his brother Gerald crying hugging pieces of bloody wood, a dead cow and dead wolves, he also slowly knealed down in shock.

“Wait…..where….where is Xavier?”

He asks as if his voice floating in air.

Kon looks at the two brothers.

He frowns.

“His body is not here. The wolves can’t possibly carry it. The scemt of the blood are from animal blood. He is probably able to escape.” He said.

The two jolted.

“Right!” The brothers look at each other.

Their brother has a door.

He can escape.

“I will go and look if he escapes in the woods.” Kon said.

“No. It’s fine.” Gerald wipes his tears.

“Go to the village chief first. It’s almost winter. The wolves go down the mountain to hunt for food. We need to warn them.”

Kon was confused why the two of them suddenly didn’t become worried.

But he still listens to Gerald. He has been in the family for a few weeks. They gave him his own house inside the gated yard.

He was treated kindly by the family and was able to accept his butler slash guard duty.

The village chief doesn’t know Kon..

He was a tall man with long hair. His skin was sunkissed tan and he has defined arm muscle. His posture is so easy on the eye.

Like a modern man model posing as a tribe leader.

Kon explained what happened and even brought the wolf head to show.

He gives the wolf head to prove what he said.

The village chief immediately called for a meeting but Kon didn’t care and went back.

Their house is near the foot of the mountain. If the wolves decided to return, that family might be in trouble.

When he returned, though, the family was worried. They don’t look as anxious.

“Kon, are you sure you don’t smell human blood in the broken carriage?” Dante asks.

“There is no human blood in it, Patriarch.”

Dante nods and thanks him.

“Should I really not look for him?” Kon asks.

Dante shakes his head.

“Don’t worry. As long as he is not injured, we know where he is.”

“I will stand on guard.” He went out.

“Don’t go outside the gate. Just guard inside. Don’t go and engage with them if you see them.” Layla said.

“I will go and take what meat can be salvaged from the cow. The wolf meat is not bad either. And the felt would be warm for a blanket.” He said.

Gerald and Harvey went with him.

They are still worried but it’s better to do something. If they just let the dead animal rot near their house it’ll be a problem and what if the wolves really return when they smell the blood? Or what if other animals come?

“I swear I’m gonna eat them!” Harvey looks at the wolves dead in the ground with anger.”

“Stop it. What’s the use in getting angry at wild animals?” Gerald said.

Kon works well with a knife.

The two brothers look at him secretly.

Kon noticed but since the stares aren’t malicious or hint of hatred, he ignored them.

“Kon…you are really strong. You can kill wolves with just broken wood.” Gerald said after a while.

“Hmm.. Our tribe is located inside the mountain and we have to fight every time if we want to survive.”

He said. He was often seen people look at him with disdain and those jealous people who wanted their strength to enslave them for their own use.

Among the most obnoxious and crazy people, the Austin family are like a family of rabbits who never step out of a beautiful paradise.

“Teach us!” Harvey suddenly said.

Gerald pulls him back.

“I’m sorry. My brother said, ‘If you are not busy, can you train us’?”

“Oh…yes. Yes. If you are not busy. At least 2 hours. I will give you a fee for teaching or take on your job.”

Harvey said seriously.

Kon looks at the two of them.

“You want to get stronger?”

“Just being able to cry when someone harms your family is more painful than a wound.’

Harvey said, clenching his fist.

Gerald pursed his lips.

Kon looks at them and remembers Xavier.

Xavier is weaker than his brothers. But he is a  confident man. Even when he is confused he will speak with his head held high and gallantly announce that he doesn’t know.

He was bought as a slave but was treated as a guest in their house.

There is no prejudice against him being in a closed tribe or no mentioning of him being a barbaric man who only knows how to use force.

“Alright.”

“Master!” The two shouted loudly.

Kon nods. Not shy with their greeting.

“It will not be easy. If you want to be strong, you need to abandon some usual habits or a comfortable life. If you want to be able to fight a group of wolves on your own, there is no shortcut, just practice.”

The two nods.

“Go back and carry the meat. I will burn the rest so it won’t attract other animals.”

The two listen to him.

Kon chops the damaged meat. The part where the wolves chewed on should not be eaten. The wolves saliva can be carrying diseases. It’s better safe than sorry.

He dumped all the meat in the nearby river to feed the fishes.

When he returned, Gerald was lighting the broken carriage with blood on it while Harvey dug soil and dumped it to cover the bloody area.

He nods. There are many ways to protect yourselves. Whatever suits you and easier.

Gerald is also a hunter.

So he wasn’t that scared of wolves.

And he can skin them so he helps Kon skin them.

Harvey watches how to do it. He will learn what he can.

After they are done. The ladies are the one who handled the meat.

Cheska is angry but she doesn’t know where to put this anger or how to dispel it so she takes a huge chunk of wolf meat to make it into bacon.

She will let his brother have his revenge on them later.

The cow meat was chopped and was stored in the chest freezer by Layla. She also glanced at the wolf meat. If she was to pick, she wanted to throw the wolf meat. It wasn’t that good in taste as it leaves a gamey after taste. But she has also been in the poorest state before and her mind can’t stomach wasting food.
