Protection

"Protect?"

Xavier nods.

"I...I am weak." Xavier confidently said.

Kon blinks. He released his arms and stare at Xavier.

Xavier scratches his head when Kon said nothing.

"Well, Our family is weak but lot of people wants to bully us. Just now, my eldest brother fiancee is being pestered by a crazy wolf and we cant do anything but to stay guarding her. The girl in the carriage with us. That's my future sister-in-law."

Kon looks down as if contemplating.

Xavier saw him in daze.

"But Im only saying we need some security of something, Im not saying you should do so much as to be a guardian knight or something...ah...How to explain this? Well, you look like you are very strong so its reassuring or some sort. Even if we brothers leave the house the elders and the women in our home will still have someone to rely on--like that."

"Why do you trust me?"

Xavier is shock.

"Oh...right....Thats...Hmmm.."

Xavier chuckles.

"Right, why do I trust you? Haha." He scratches his head and sighs.

"Well, you dont look like a bad person and Im just hoping you are worth rge money I spent in you.Uh...That sound like bad...Hmm.." Xavier stuggles then he open his one eye and stare at Kon.

"Well, thats that."

Kon frowns.

"That is that?"

Xavier laughs.

"Yes. Dont think I am too weak I wont be able to fight you if you mess around. I may look like this but I am not too easy to provoke." He showed something on his back.

"I always carry my gun. This small thing is legally purchase and has a permit so I carry it anywhere I go for my protection. This thing can kill a life."

Saying that, Xavier let Kon hold it but Kon refused.

Xavier laughs.

"It wont hurt you if you just hold it."

Kon shakes his head.

"You should hold your protection item in you."

Xavier scratches his head.

"This is my sincerity,Kon. I know you lost your tribes people. I dont know how or who is your enemies.Right now, Im giving you a choice. Follow me, stay in our family and we will be your family."

Kon stares at Xavier.

Xavier returns home.

"Is he comfortable in the barn?" Layla asks.

Xavier nods.

"He needs to recuperate since he is sick. Ill bring his dinner later. I feed him fever and cough medicine for now but tomorrow I will ask a doctor to meet him."

Julius nods.

"Its your call. How did your talk goes?"

"I dont want to rush him. Its not easy , his life. Its better to leave it for later matters." Xavier smiles.

He already showed him some of his trump cards. Xavier hopes Kon will choose a warm simple life than the other choice that may lead to premature death.

Arianne's parent consulted an old shaman for a good date to marry.

They will be marrying after 2 weeks.

It feels too soon for Xavier and too long for the others.

"Brother, you look like you want to pull the days to make the wedding come faster." Harvey teased.

Gerald laughs.

"Ofcourse I am happy. Is it really alright for us to stay in the house once we are married? I feel like I am being a burden to third."

Xavier sneers.

"Once I grow old and weak, I hope brother's family will take care of me."

"Of course!" Gerald said immediately.

"Hey, hey, I will grow old with you brother." Cheska said and hugs Xavier arm.

Xavier grins.

"Yes. You and your husband will take care of us."

Cheska blushes and hits Xavier arm.

"Actually, dont worry too much brother. I am already thinking of a way for our family to earn money so you all dont need to always think of who owed who. We are all family. We will do this together."

The siblings smile at him

"So what business are you thinking? We already tried the tea, the instant cup noodles, you sold the pearl for so much money. Do we need to do anything more? So much money." Harvey said.

Gerald frowns.

"Are you intending to ask your third brother to give those to you?"

"Do I dare?" Harvey said in shock.

"I dare! I dare! Brother give me some gold for my dowry." She grins.

"Okay. I will give you 10 thousand gold." Xavier said rubbing her hair.

"Hehe." She knows his third brother will not say no to her. He gaves her too much face.

"I was thinking about a general store or a restaurant but I still cant decide yet." Xavier looks at his brothers.

"Its not like we are cooks but in the other world. There are restaurant that only served some foods that is not needing experts to make......I am talking about fastfood restaurant."

"Ah! I know that!" Cheska said.

"I watch a Television series where the girl protagonist is a service crew in this 'fastfood'restaurant. Its really too amazing. They made a line and no one is cutting lines.  They are all wearing beautiful clothes and then they will order and food will instantly deliver right after they order!" She said.

"That is so magical. Can I watch it too?" Harvey said.

"Okay. But Im in episode 6 now and she already left the fastfood restaurant, she resigned because this handsome rich guy is so irritating and keep pursuing her."

Cheska said rolling her eyes.

"Men ah, so irritating."

"......" Xavier thinks its good his sister stop watching cartoon but too much drama series will ruin her too.

"Fast food chain. Can we  do it too?" Gerald asks.

Xavier nods.

"Ofcourse. Are you interested brother?"

Gerald nods.

Xavier thinks.

"Let's give it a try."

That night, he gives Kon dinner and told him his plans for tomorrow. He told his family not to visit him since he is sick so he is the only one who can talk to him.

"Do you know how to read? He asks.

If he can he will bring him some book from town but Kon shakes his head.

Xavier thinks its normal if he doesnt know how. He gives him a pen and paper to scribble around.

Seeing how amazed Kon was with the pen he alsoo add pen and lighter to the list he will purchase when he goes to the other side.

Paper is not permitted.

Paper, only a selected few can sell them.

His brothers and sister scold him for even thinking.
