Chapter 17

Chapter 17: Superhero’s shoulder "Athy, did something happen while we were away?" Suzanne asked in a worried tone as they three walked back to the pack house.

That’s where Nathan and Justin were with Ace.

Athena, who was lost in some thoughts, looked at her in confusion.

"Nothing happened.Why did you ask?" She asked in confusion.

She didn’t want anyone to know about her past or to know about her interaction with her father.She didn’t tell Suzanne and Patricia about it and planned to keep it to herself only.

"Did you see the big frown you had on your face? And you have been really quiet since we met again after shopping.Are you sure everything is okay?"

Patricia spoke up in a worried tone as she tried to read Athena.But she was quick to mask her emotions.

"Oh, it‘s nothing.I just hope Ace didn‘t trouble Nathan and Justin much."

Athena avoided answering the questions smartly as they all entered the pack house.

"Don’t worry, I am sure they have handled -…Well, HE handled him well."

Patricia spoke up in a weird tone which made Athena frown at her.

"He…who-...?"

Athena couldn’t complete her sentence as she turned around to look where both the girls were looking and got a big shock.

Athena’s heart stopped beating as she looked at the scene.

Her fists became sweaty as her eyes stung with tears.

In front of her was the most beautiful yet the most destructive scene was happening Ace was on Dominic’s shoulder and laughing as if he got the biggest cookie in the world.

While there was a small smile at the corner of Dominic’s lips as well as he ran around the room behind Nathan and Justin to catch them.

Such a scene it is! Her heart clenched.

The scene was so soulful.She has never seen Ace so happy and cheerful.

He looks a lot healthy as well.

In the past she had never seen him smile so much.He always used t o be gloomy or scared if she wasn’t around.

And when she was with him, he used to pour everything out before falling asleep.

That‘s it.But now he looks so bright.He doesn’t look stuffed with emotions which he wants to pour in front of her in ten minutes when she returns.He looks free.

She loves to see him like this.She hates to admit that it was mostly because of Dominic.She hates to see how comfortable her son has gotten with that man.She hates it! She hates it so much! Suddenly, she felt an indescribable anger surge through her veins and she saw nothing but anger.She fisted her hands tightly as she stormed toward them.She snatched Ace away from Dominic’s hands in a flash before glaring at him deadly.

"How dare you?!"

She growled in anger as she took a step away from him.

"Don’t you understand things that were once said?"

The room suddenly went silent.

All the laughter was gone and tension filled the room completely.

Suzanne looked at her worriedly as she quickly took Ace away from her as she didn’t want him to be close to his angry mommy.

While everyone else looked confused.

Nathan and Justin came and stood beside both the girls as they watched the scene.

"Lower your voice.Don’t forget in front of whom you are standing."

Dominic said in a low and intimidating tone as his eyes flashed anger.

"I don’t care! How many times do I have to tell you to stay away from my son? Stay away from him! I don’t want you near him! Don’t you understand that?!"

She shouted as she proceeded t o push him on the chest but he caught her hands at the right moment and twisted at her back. She felt a pull because of that as she bumped on his chest.

She looked at him in shock "You can’t talk to me like that."

He glared hard but there was something which was distracting him from concentrating on her.He was trying to figure it out as he frowned deeply at him.

"You can’t ignore my words as well!"She snapped back as she tried to release her hands from her grip.

"Leave me!"She hissed in annoyance.

"I can do that actually." He growled in a low tone as he glared at her.

His eyes darkened as he figured the thing out which was distracting him.

It was a scent! A male’s scent which was on her!

"No, you can’t!" She hissed once again in annoyance while ignoring his glare.

"Where were you?" He asked, completely ignoring the conversation which was going on.

The sudden possessiveness in his tone caught her off guard.She looked at him in confusion.

"Shopping…? You know that.Don’t try to change the subject." She scowled at him.

"Who have you been with?" He asked, his tone getting dangerously low and intimidating.

It was giving her chills as she looked at him in pure confusion.

"What do you mean-...?"

She hardly completed her question when he suddenly picked her up and threw her over his shoulder in front of his friends.He walked toward the stairs taking long and angry strides.He was really angry.

"What the hell is wrong with you?! What are you doing? Put me down! I said, put me down!"

Athena shouted at him as she punched his back.It was no use.

He didn’t pay any heed to her words.

Everyone gasped out loudly in shock but they knew better than interrupting an angry Dominic.

They didn’t even know what angered him.

They could just blame Athena for running her sharp mouth.

After all she wouldn‘t have been there in that situation if she had kept quiet.

Right? While Ace looked at the scene with utmost excitement.

He let out a giggle in happiness and that brought everyone out from the shock.

Nathan and Justin quickly covered Ace’s eyes who was enjoying the scene with a big smile.

"Yay, now mommy is being carried on the superhero’s shoulder!"
