Chapter 58

"What's going on?" I ask, looking at my mom, my brother and Mason

"We're going on a date" Mason smiles

Now

"But I'm not dressed for a date," the stress is clear in my voice as I look at my outfit. A simple skinny jeans and a simple shirt.

My mom smiles brightly and takes me by the arm. I follow her upstairs to see Jade in my room, smiling.

"Where did you come from?" I ask confused

"When I dropped you off, Jay snuck me in through the backdoor and I hid in his room" she smiles

Before I can answer her, she has pushed me in a chair and starts curling it.

Meanwhile, my mom is skimming through my closet and is pulling out every single dress I have ever owned.

"No"

"No," I answer again

"Hmm, how about this one?" She asks me, but Jade quickly shakes her head

"That red one on the left" Jade says instead

"No! That was from when I was like what? eleven or something"

"Why do you still have it then?" Jade asks the confusion clear in her voice

"Because, I don't know" I whine

"Sit still, we have to get you ready in 20 minutes"

"Sorry"

I eye my mom and see her holding a navy blue dress.

Jade gasps from behind me and I know she is thinking the same thing as I'm thinking.

It's perfect.

"That's definitely the one" I mumble

"Chop chop children, we can't keep the handsome boyfriend downstairs waiting too long" my mom says, just as Jade finishes the last curl

I jump up and my mom helps me put the dress on. I completely forgot I had this one. I had bought it for the dance at my old school, but before I was able to wear it, we moved away.

It still fits perfectly.

"Can you keep the make-up light?"

"Sure"

Jade quickly gets started on it and 5 minutes later she's done. I look in the mirror and admire the image flashing back. Just 15 minutes ago I looked so casual and now, now I look fancy and it's a very weird sight. I almost never wear dresses, not because I don't like them. I just love my jeans a little bit too much.

My mom hands me black heels, but I quickly shake my head. Instead, I grab some fancy looking sandals and put them on.

"You look stunning" Jade mumbles and I blush at her words

"I couldn't agree more," my mom says, "I'll see you downstairs" she gives me a quick kiss on my cheek before going downstairs.

I turn to Jade with a smile on my face. Unfortunately that soon disappears, seeing the mischievous look on her face.

"What?" I ask, frowning in the meantime

She hands me a small package, making me more confused than I already was. I hesitantly take it.

"What is it?"

"Just look at it" she grins

I take a look, but as soon as I see what it is, I hand it back to her.

"Jade!"

"What? Better safe than sorry" she smirks

"Nothing like that is going to happen" I hiss

"Just take it Lexa, you never know what might happen" she wiggles her eyebrows suggestively at me

"Fine, but I hate you for this" I groan

The satisfied look on her face tells me enough and before she can say more, I have stuffed the small package in my purse.

"Shoo, hurry up, someone is waiting for you downstairs" she chuckles, pushing me downstairs

"Yeah yeah"

I set foot on the last step of the stairs as Mason holds his hand out for me to take.

A blush spreads across my face as I take it and set foot on the floor again. In the corner of my eyes, I see my mom putting the flowers in a vase.

"You look absolutely beautiful"

"Thank you" I mumble and smile at my family and best friend

"Enjoy your date," my mom says

"Bring her home safely," Jayden follows

"Have fun," Jade says and winks at me. I narrow my eyes in respond, but we quickly burst out laughing

"You ready?" Mason asks

"Yes"

"Where are we going?" I ask for the billionth time

"Lex, just shut up and wait"

"But I can't, I wanna know and can I please take this thing off?"

"Nope, then it isn't a surprise anymore"

I suck in a breath, when I feel Mason's hand on my thigh.

"But," I mumble, knowing that he is smirking very brightly right now

"No"

I groan defeatedly as I let Mason drive us to the place where we're supposed to have a date, while I try to ignore the tingling feeling from his hand on my thigh.

"We're here"

I hear Mason's door open and soon after my door opens as well.

"Give me your hand please"

I do as he says and he helps me out off the car.

"Can I take it off now?"

"No"

I feel his hand on the small of my back as he guides me to, yeah, to some place.

"You can take it off now"

I quickly take the blindfold off and gasp in shock. There's a lake, surrounded by woods and right now we're standing on a small grass field that's next to the lake. There is a blanket covered with pillows and colored lights are hanging everywhere. Lastly but not least, there is a loooott of food.

"You did all of this?" I ask shocked

"With a little help yeah" he smiles

"I love it, it's amazing"

I turn around and face Mason. I can't believe he actually did all of this for me.

"Thank you" I smile and push my lips against his

"Why did you do all of this?" I ask as I lay down on the pillows

"Because I felt like we hadn't been on a real date yet"

I knit my eyebrows in confusion.

"Wait, huh? You're right, I hadn't even thought about that" I smile

We've been dating for a few months now, but we haven't been on a real date yet. This is my first real date with Mason. Dámn.

"And I wanted to spent some alone time with you" he smiles cheekily

I look him close in the eyes, looking for something that shows me he really cares. A few tears form in my eyes as I find an emotion I didn't expect to find.

Love.

"Mason" I whisper, not even knowing if he heard me or not

"Yeah?"

"I love you"
