Chapter 57

(A/N) for the people who noticed that I re-uploaded chapter 56, I haven't changed anything majorly. I forgot that Jayden already knew something was up with Mark and Alex from that night in the woods. He doesn't know anything  else about it though, only that Mark is on Caleb's side. I also re-uploaded chapter 55, to change the word 'chef' to ' chief' :)

IMPORTANT!! I also changed two chapters (I don't remember exactly which one, but somewhere around 34-35) and the promise Alex made to herself about loving the person before giving herself to it etc. doesn't exist anymore, I completely deleted that from the story :)

Now let's get on with the story :)

Previously

"We love you too mom, but can someone please fill me in about the whole Mark-thing?" Jay eyes me in the mirror and I shrink back in my seat.

Great. Just. Great.

Now

"Okay, so you know about when Mark was with Caleb that night in the woods?"

"Yes"

"What more do you know?" I ask Jayden.

Right now we're placed at the dining table, both mom and Jayden there. I'm telling them everything they didn't know yet, from Disneyland to Mark.

"That he has something to do with Caleb and that he is after you as well"

I nod and ask my mom the same question.

"Same thing as Jay. And that he does not deserve a relationship with either of us"

I shrink back in my chair, "I'm sorry mom"

"It's not your fault Alex, don't you dare think like that." she smiles and takes my hand in hers

I tell them what happened in Disneyland and about the times when Mark was in our house. I also tell my mom about that night in the woods and about the police stopping by.

I suddenly know what I'm going to do.

"I'm going to the police station. I'm going to testify against Caleb and Mark"

"I'm proud of you darling" my mom says and takes my hand in hers

Jayden smiles relieved and takes my other hand is his.

"I love you both so much" I smile and then get up

"You're not doing this alone" Mom says sternly and gets up as well

"I'm coming as well" Jay says and I smile

"Thank you"

"The lawsuit is in four weeks on a Tuesday. We're going to find some more evidence against Mark and in the meantime we want you to come here three times for questioning, is that alright with you?" Marielle Winters asks me as we are sitting down in a small room with a table and a few chairs

I nod my head, "that's okay with me"

"You also need a lawyer, do you have one?"

I look at my mom, "Connor's father is one of the best lawyers in town. I have asked him already and he is more than happy to be your lawyer"

I smile at that, "thank you mom"

"Okay, that was all for now. Do you have any more questions?"

"What if Caleb or Mark tries something?" I mumble

"There will be two police officers in front of your house at all times until the court case. There will also be police officers at the front of the school, in an undercover car of course. Caleb will still be attending your school, seeing that we don't want him to suspect anything and go out of town. We advise you to always be with someone you trust, either your mom, brother, friends, partner or someone else. If they try anything, doesn't matter how small or big, you have to come to us immediately, okay?"

"Okay, thank you"

"Anymore questions?"

"No, that's it for now. Thank you" I shake her hand and we make our way out of the police station

While my mom and Jayden walk to the car, I hesitate.

"Lex, are you coming?" My brother asks

"No, you go. I'll come later, I've got something I need to do" I smile and take my phone out of my pocket

Wait. I can't be alone. Dang it.

"Darling, Mrs. Winters said that you can't go anywhere alone for this month" my mom says and I groan

"I know, and I'll call Jade, ok? And I'll wait in front of the police station. They won't try anything here. Or you can wait till they are here" I offer

"We'll wait" Jay immediately says and I nod my head as I call Jade.

"Lexa, what's up?" She answers

"Hey Jada, I need to talk to you, can you come to the police station? Preferably in your car?"

"On my way," she says quickly and I hear the confusion and worry in her voice, "I'll be there in 5."

"Thank you." I hang up, when I hear her start her car

Five minutes later she arrives and quickly parks her car. She gets out and almost runs to me when she has spotted us.

"You can go now, thank you for waiting. I love you" I say to both my mom and Jayden

"Text us when you're about to get home, yeah?"

I nod my head and Jayden quickly gives Jade a kiss before turning to his car.

"Be safe, we love you." Mom shouts and I wave them goodbye

"Can we go to Connor's grave? I'll explain everything on the way there" I ask quietly

"Sure" she smiles and we get in her car

I start telling her about the police and that I am going to testify against Caleb and Mark. When we arrive at the graveyard I am done.

"I'm proud of you Lexa, they should be locked up, you deserve a life free from them" she smiles and pulls me in a hug

"Thank you," I smile and we get out of the car.

"Have you ever been to Connor's grave?"

"No, I couldn't get myself to go" she mumbles and I grab her hand

"You wanna come with me?"

She nods her head and soon enough we're there, "do you want to say something to him?" I ask and she nods.

When she's done I wipe Her tears from her face and pull her in a hug.

"He's safe there now" I say with a sad smile

"I know" she whispers

When she pulls back, I turn around and take a deep breath.

"Hey Con, I miss you. So so much. I wish you were here. I'm going to testify against Caleb and Mark. I'm scared to death, but I know I can do it. I really want you to be here right now, you always knew how to take my mind off things and how to make me laugh. I know you can see us from up there and I know you'll be there with me. I'll be back soon, I love you"

"Has anyone seen Mason today?" I ask Jayden and mom

They look at each other and quickly answer me.

"Nope"

"I haven't seen him either, darling"

I sigh and call him once again. Again, straight to voicemail.

"Darling, Connor's father has asked me if you could stop by his office somewhere this week"

"Okay mom, thanks"

I sigh deeply and pace around the living room. When that is boring me, I walk to the kitchen, where my mom has baked some delicious cupcakes and brownies.

I grab two of them and sneak upstairs.

"Alexia"

"What?" I answer with a stuffed mouth and quickly close the door to my room

"Come down here"

I sigh defeatedly and eye the cupcake and brownie.

"It was nice knowing you," I mumble as I quickly stuff them in my mouth and I skip downstairs.

I stop dead in my tracks at the end of the stairs. My jaw drops, making pieces of food come out.

"You're catching flies, princess" Mason says with a grin on his face

I blush and quickly swallow the last bit of food.

"Why are you dressed like that?" I ask, still shocked

"What, you don't like it?" He asks

"Yes, no, yes, I-I mean of course I do, you look handsome" I stutter as I look at him in his suit and with the flowers in his hand.

"Why thank you" he chuckles and hands me the flowers

"Thank you" I whisper with a blush still spread across my face

"What's going on?" I ask, looking at my mom, my brother and Mason

"We're going on a date" Mason smiles

She's going to testify! :) And they're finally going on a date! Yay!

I again don't know when the next chapter is coming out, but I'll let you know as soon as I do :)
