Chapter 522

Comeback Of The Adored Heiress

Chapter 522:

The following afternoon, racers from all over gathered near the perilous Mount Alas. As soon as Madisyn and Waylon arrived, they noticed their two teammates already waiting.

“Where’s Jeff? Why hasn’t he arrived?” Only one member was still absent. The captain quickly made a call to check on him, and after an agonizing pause, the call was picked up. A teary voice spoke, “Captain, I can’t make it. I was hit by a car, and my leg’s injured.” His heart-wrenching cries struck a chord with the four team members present.

His absence meant the end of their relay hopes; they needed five people for the group competition.

“How did it happen?” The captain felt a heavy dread settle in.

“A car hit me on my way out today. I’m so sorry, Captain. I’m sorry, everyone,” Jeff Winer continued to apologize, his words thick with emotion as he struggled through his guilt, though there was nothing he could do.

“What are the chances of this? The HB Club must be behind this!” one of the team members spat out in frustration. Waylon and Madisyn exchanged looks. Waylon clenched his jaw and growled, “This is bad. What now? We’ve got to find someone else, no matter what—there’s no way we’re missing the group race.” They had made a vow to beat the HB Club.

“We could find someone, but the race is starting soon,” the captain replied anxiously.

“Hey, the race is about to kick off, and you’ve only got four people? Really? You can’t even gather enough for the group?” The taunt came from a distance as the HB Club members strolled over, their expressions dripping with arrogance and disdain.

Waylon’s face twisted with fury as he yelled, “It was you, wasn’t it? Are you that scared of us beating you?”

“Scared of you? Don’t make me laugh. We could give you a head start, and you’d still lose!” The HB Club team burst into mocking laughter.

Wesley sneered, “You can’t even put together your full team. I’d say it’s best if you just quit now.”

“We’re not quitting!” The argument between the teams attracted attention from other teams nearby. Noticing the YM Club’s struggle to get their team together, a few bystanders began chuckling.

“What happened to the YM Club? Looks like they can’t even compete in the group race, yet they had the nerve to brag online about how they’d reclaim their top spot!”

“Seriously, where does all that confidence come from?”

Just last night, someone had mentioned online that the YM Club had declared their intention to reclaim their spot at the top. The announcement was met with widespread mockery.

Yet, a handful of die-hard supporters held onto a glimmer of hope. After all, the YM Club had once been the unbeatable ace team. Could this be their moment again?

However, as they observed the team’s failure to come together, disdain and disappointment began to seep into the crowd.

“Looks like the YM Club is all talk, just making noise for attention,” someone commented.

With a sneer, Wesley said, “Not quitting? You’re just dragging this out to embarrass yourselves further. I’d gladly help with that.”

“Help how? They can’t even scrape together enough racers for the group race,” someone chimed in. Laughter erupted from the crowd.

The YM Club had turned into nothing more than a laughingstock. For some fans, the scene was heartbreaking. The YM Club, once a respected powerhouse, had now fallen into this pitiful state—it was truly sad to witness.

The YM Club’s captain and the other team members were filled with frustration but had no solution. The reality was simple—they didn’t have enough racers to compete. The sound of mocking laughter seemed to drain the life from their eyes.

The race was set to begin, yet their team was incomplete. Should they even bother going through with it at this point?

“Alright, enough laughing. Let’s get back and get ready. The race is about to start,” Jada finally intervened. The HB Club members complied and headed back to their area.

Jada shot a glance at the woman standing next to Waylon. Her face was hidden behind a veil, making it impossible to discern her identity.

Once they returned to their spot, Jada asked, “Did you figure out who that woman is?”

Wesley shook his head. “No, Jada. My team couldn’t track her. Every time they tried to follow her, she disappeared.”

With their goal of taking first place, they were determined to avoid a repeat of the last race’s result. So, they had sent scouts to spy on the YM Club’s practices. That was when they first saw how skilled this mysterious woman was. The plan had been to injure her and prevent her from racing.

But their trackers couldn’t keep up with her.

Since that plan failed, they shifted their focus to another racer, ensuring the YM Club wouldn’t have enough racers to compete in the group event.

Jada wore a serious expression while Wesley’s curiosity was piqued. He never thought there would be a skilled female racer in their club. “I’m really eager to find out who she is.”

“We’ll figure it out eventually,” she responded.
