Chapter 1400
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 1400:
Faced with their warm invitation, Calan hesitated for only a moment before nodding. âThat sounds great. Iâd love to.â
As they stepped into Lilyana and Collierâs home, Calan came to an abrupt stop. His gaze drifted over the spaceâthe soft lighting, the inviting warmth that lingered in the air.
Lilyana noticed his pause and raised an eyebrow. âSomething wrong?â
Calan let out a quiet chuckle, shaking his head. âNo. Iâm just⦠envious.â
She tilted her head. âEnvious?â
A shadow passed through Calanâs eyes, but his voice remained steady. âMy parents work abroad. Theyâre always busy, and when they do take time off, they usually spend it together without me. I never really liked living overseas, and over time, I guess I became more withdrawn. The doctor suggested I try a change of environment, so I decided to come back here for school.â
Calan took in the decor of Lilyanaâs home, so different from his own, and let out a thoughtful remark. âI never really understood what the doctor meant by embracing a new environment and lifestyle, but now I think I get it. Collier, Lilyana, thank you both.â
Lilyana realized that Calanâthe same aloof presence in her classroomâwasnât deliberately trying to stand out; rather, he simply didnât know how to blend in.
Classmates often whispered that Calan had impossibly high standards, and Lilyana agreed. But now, she realized he hadnât chosen solitudeâhe had grown up with it, molded by it, to the point that even when surrounded by others, he naturally set himself apart.
A newfound curiosity sparked within her.
âIf thatâs the case, does that mean Collier is your first friend?â she asked.
âYes.â Calan nodded, unbothered by the admission.
At that moment, Lilyanaâs gaze softened, her feelings toward him shifting. She never would have guessed that someone as dazzling and accomplished as Calan carried such a lonely past. Just like that, the idea of seeing him as a rival faded from her mind.
âCalan, since youâre friends with Collier, that makes you my friend too,â she said with certainty. âIf you ever need anything, Collier and I will be here. Iâm sure things will only get better for you.â
âThank you, Lilyana.â There was a warmth to his voice now, and when he said her name, it sounded differentâsofter, more familiar. âFor the first time, I feel like coming back to Lorpond, my homeland, was the right decision.â

The three of them exchanged glances before bursting into laughter. Just then, Collier sniffed the air and lit up with excitement. âIt smells amazing! I wonder what the chef made. Letâs go check it out!â
After the meal, Madisyn found herself growing fond of Calan. Hearing about his upbringing stirred a protective feeling in her. Noting that he and Lilyana were classmates, she made a casual suggestion.
âCalan, youâre so young, yet youâre living alone while managing school every day⦠Why donât I have the driver take you and Lilyana together? The destination is the same, after all.â
âThatâs a great idea!â Collier immediately perked up, raising his hand in agreement.
Calan hesitated, instinctively glancing at Lilyana, unsure whether to accept.
She met his gaze and answered without hesitation, âI think itâs a good idea too. I donât mind. Calan, do you?â
âNo, I donât mind.â His response came swiftly, his eyes steady on hers. Madisyn smiled at the exchange. âThen itâs settled. Starting tomorrow, the driver will take both of you.â
