Chapter 1349
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 1349:
Evie lowered her gaze, unsure how to respond, but Waylon already knew the answer just by looking at her. âYou silly girl.â
With a fond sigh, he gently tapped her forehead, his words laced with both complaint and relief. Despite everything, he was just grateful he hadnât truly lost her.
They left the hotel together, making their way to the parking lot. As they reached the car, Waylon suddenly turned to Evie. âEvie, what exactly is our relationship now?â
She stopped in her tracks, looking at him with uncertainty.
Waylon blinked at her, feigning disbelief. âEvie, you kept the truth from me all this time, and now that I know, youâre just going to walk away without making it up to me? Not even a little compensation?â After all, she had deceived him first. It was only fair that she took responsibility.
Evie sighed. âAnd how exactly do you want me to make it up to you? What kind of compensation are we talking about?â
Waylonâs lips curled into a teasing smirk. âAre you willing to do anything I ask?â
Evie had the urge to say it depended, but when she saw the hopeful look in his eyes, she hesitatedâthen gave a small nod.
âAlright then. Starting today, I want you to be my girlfriend.â Waylonâs voice was steady, unwavering. Then, as if to seal the deal, he added, âDo you agree?â
Evie looked up at him, her expression unreadable. Then, out of nowhere, she stood on her tiptoes and placed a light kiss on his lips.
âWaylon, did you feel my answer?â Evie asked, her eyes locked on his after the kiss.
In all the time he had known her, Waylon had never truly experienced the sensation of kissing herânot even that night, when the drugs had dulled his senses.
But this time⦠this time, he was completely sober. And the moment her lips brushed his, warmth spread through his entire body.
âEvie, I think this might just be the happiest day of my life.â
With that, he opened the car door for her, then slid into the driverâs seat beside her.

As he started the car, he couldnât help but reach over and take her hand in his.
Evie glanced down at their entwined fingers, then lifted her gaze to his with a playful glint in her eyes. âWaylon, do you want to be even happier?â
âHuh?â Waylon blinked in surprise. âIâm already pretty happy. How could I possibly be any happier?â
Evieâs eyes sparkled with sudden excitement. âHow about I go with you to meet your parents?â
âWhat!â
Waylon jerked upward in shock, barely avoiding a collision with the carâs ceiling.
Settling back into his seat, he drew a deep breath. âEvie, did you say that to bring me joy or to give me a heart attack?â
Evieâs gaze locked onto his, uncertainty dancing in her eyes. âDonât you want me to meet your parents? Or are you implying that marriage isnât in our future?â
âDonât talk nonsense!â Waylon rushed to clarify.
âAfter everything weâve weathered together, marriage has been my North Star. Even when you needed time, I never once considered anyone else. My reaction just now⦠I simply wanted to give you space to ease into this.â
