Chapter 1347
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 1347:
âIâm not in a relationship with Jenny.â
Waylon wanted to explain himself, but deep down, he knew his words wouldnât sound convincing enough.
âForget it. Iâll take you to see Jenny right now and prove thereâs nothing going on between us!â
âI donât want toâ¦â
Waylon had already grasped Evieâs wrist. She struggled, twisting her arm a couple of times, but his grip held steady.
Without giving her another chance to resist, Waylon guided her into the car and blocked the door.
âEvie, listen to me. I donât want any misunderstandings between us. You didnât deny my guess just now, which means weâre not done yet.â He closed the car door before she could argue, then circled to the driverâs seat, got in, and started the engine.
As the car moved forward at a steady pace, Evie stole a glance at him, her fingers unconsciously tightening around the seatbelt. In the end, she let out a slow breath and gave up on the thought of jumping out.
There was no escaping Waylon. She had to face the reality head-on. She had already lost him once before. Having him back now was something she couldnât take lightly. Gone was the girl who passively accepted love; she had become someone willing to chase after what she truly wanted.
Jenny was staying at a hotel under the Johns Group, a comfortable and well-arranged accommodation set up by Waylon himself.
When he called her, informing her that he needed to see her, Jenny readily agreed. As soon as Waylon and Evie arrived, she welcomed them into the living room.
âWaylon, Evie, you two are actually together?â Jenny arched a brow as she shut the door behind them.
Waylon didnât waste time with pleasantries.
Donât miss out gαâηÏνðlsâ¤cøm
âJenny, I hope you can be upfront with Evie about the kind of relationship we have.â
âWhat kind of relationship?â Jenny frowned, confused by the sudden interrogation, but when she turned her gaze to Evie, she instantly caught onto the strange tension hanging between them.
âOh,â she murmured, her lips curving into a knowing smile.
âI see whatâs going on here.â
She turned to Evie, speaking with deliberate clarity.
âWaylon and I are business partners and good friends, nothing more. If youâre feeling uneasy because weâve worked together before, you donât have to be.â Jenny stepped closer, her smile warm and reassuring.
âIâve always known that Waylon has feelings for you. Heâs never looked at anyone else the way he looks at you.â
To make her point even clearer, Jenny didnât hesitate to bring up something personal. She pulled out her phone and, with a few quick taps, revealed a picture on her screen.
âThis is my type. Completely different from Waylon.â
Evie leaned in, expecting to see some unfamiliar face, but the moment her eyes landed on the photo, she stiffened. Waylon, standing beside her, pinched the bridge of his nose in embarrassment.
âJenny, I should probably mention that Evie already knows Laurin. And, well⦠I only just found out today that Laurin is actually a woman.â
âWhat?â
Jennyâs eyes widened in shock. She turned to Evie, searching her face for confirmation.
When Evie gave a small, awkward nod, Jenny could only stare at the screen in disbelief. Laurindaâs striking features, the flawless angles of her face, the confident yet graceful air about herâit was hard to process. Even with Waylon and Evie standing here telling her the truth, she struggled to believe it. But she also knew neither of them would lie to her.
âThis is⦠unreal,â Jenny muttered, shaking her head as she studied the photo again.
Evie watched her, unsure of what to say. But Jenny recovered quickly, snapping her attention back to the matter at hand.
âAlright,â she said, locking eyes with Evie.
âSo, do you believe now that thereâs nothing between Waylon and me?â
Evie hesitated before nodding. She glanced at Jenny, then at Waylon, suddenly feeling a little embarrassed.
Jenny, observing the subtle shifts between them, smirked knowingly. Oh, something good was definitely going to happen between these two.
âWell, since Iâve cleared things up for you, why donât you two go out for a walk? I think I need some time to digest all of this myself.â It was a playful push, but an effective one. Waylon gave Jenny a small nod before turning to take Evie away.
Jenny walked them to the door, watching as they made their way to the elevator. But just as they were about to step inside, she suddenly called out, âWait a minute!â
Both Waylon and Evie turned back, curious. Jenny, still holding her phone, smiled faintly.
âI just remembered something. And I think you should hear it.â She tilted her head thoughtfully.
âWaylon, do you remember that one night in Mila? You were in a terrible mood, and you dragged me to Fashion Square, drinking yourself into oblivion?â
Waylon nodded.
âYeah.â
Jenny continued, âYou drank the entire night. I tried to stop you, but I failed. And then, at some point, I turned my head and saw Evie. At the time, I had no idea you two knew each other, so I just watched as she left. Later, when I brought you back to your place, you kept saying her name in your sleep. Over and over again.â
Jenny let that sink in before offering the two one last smile. Without another word, she turned and gently shut the hotel room door behind her.
