As soon as she finished speaking, her phone rang. Denby’s name flashed across the screen.

“Madisyn, Zenis Road…”

Denby’s voice came through weak and urgent before disappearing abruptly. Madisyn’s brow furrowed as she stared at her phone’s screen, now showing the disconnected call.

At the same moment, Andrew’s secretary called.

“Mr. Klein, we’ve received an urgent call from Commander Thatcher’s driver. Commander Thatcher has suffered a sudden medical emergency and is being rushed to the hospital…”

“How could this happen?”

Madisyn studied Andrew’s face, noting his furrowed brow and the distant look in his eyes that suggested his mind was racing through possibilities.

“Andrew, we should head to the hospital and check on Denby,” Madisyn suggested.

“Okay,” Andrew replied.

Seeing the tension radiating from Andrew’s body, Madisyn made a quick decision. She gestured for the bodyguard to take the wheel while she joined Andrew in the backseat, ready to provide whatever support he might need during the drive.
