Chapter 1308
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 1308:
Andrewâs gaze locked onto the vehicle ahead, sharp and assessing. Given his assignment to investigate the military region, Elton should have returned straight away.
Even if there had been other matters delaying him, this abrupt change of mind was unusual.
His grip firm on the wheel, Andrew recalled the roadâs destination. If his memory served him right, the left path led to only one placeâthe northwest corner of the military compound, where a Lieutenant General currently on administrative leave resided.
A shadow crossed Andrewâs eyes. There was nothing suspicious about a Lieutenant General paying a visit to another of equal rank.
However, given that this particular officer had been demoted from a general for clashing with Denby over political matters, Eltonâs sudden visit to his residence seemed anything but ordinary.
Suspicion gnawed at Andrew as he pressed his foot down on the gas, continuing his pursuit.
Meanwhile, at the Johns familyâs hospital, Madisyn stepped out of the ward, scanning the hallway for any sign of Andrew.
Just as she wondered where he had gone, a veteran passing by noticed her and approached.
âMiss Johns, are you looking for Mr. Klein? I ran into him downstairs about two hours agoâhe had some files with him. Said he left you a message.â
Madisyn pulled out her phone and, sure enough, found a message from Andrew.
âSomething came up. Iâll be back soon.â
She thanked the veteran and quickly typed a response.
âOkay.â With her work for the afternoon wrapped up, she found herself with nothing to do while waiting for Andrewâs return. Rather than stand idly, she struck up a conversation with the veteran.

Even after leaving the service, veterans maintained their own close-knit circles, staying up to date on military affairs. This particular veteran, after chatting for a while, eventually steered the conversation toward Andrewâs lineage.
âI served under Commander Thatcher back in the day. Of course, back then, he was just a general. At the time, the military region was divided into two major corps: the âDenby Army,â which we belonged to, and General Rocco Travisâs âRocco Army.â One was the stable, traditional faction, the other a more radical force.â
Madisyn rarely heard such stories and found herself intrigued, settling into her seat as the veteran continued.
âIn the end, the two corps merged into one. General Thatcher was promoted to Chief Commander, and General Travis was assigned as his deputy. We all thought this would be the perfect balanceâcombining the best of both factions. But as it turned out, when all was said and done, only Commander Thatcher remainedâ¦â
Madisyn listened intently as the veteran spoke, piecing together fragments of Denbyâs past. The military, however, had its own strict protocols, so the veteran refrained from revealing any sensitive details. Despite this, the bits of insight he did share were more than enough for Madisyn.
Andrew followed Elton to the northwest corner of the military compound, his sharp gaze locking onto Eltonâs car, which was parked right in front of Roccoâs residence.
The military had complete control over surveillance in this sector. Any further movement would be caught on camera without question.
Just then, Andrewâs phone vibrated. Madisynâs message lit up the screen. He pulled over, took in the scene one last time, then turned the car around and headed back to the hospital.
