Chapter 1216
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 1216:
âThank you!â Waylon hugged Madisyn, a ghost of his old smile flickering across his face.
âTake care of yourself. If anything happens, call meâIâll drop everything and come back.â
Back in her bedroom, Evie lay restless, haunted by the image of Waylon standing rain-soaked before the villa.
The memory played on repeat, stealing her sleep until dawn painted shadows beneath her eyesâshadows she carefully concealed with makeup the next morning.
When she emerged from her room, her gaze drifted instinctively to the dining table. Only a two-day-old bouquet of lilies greeted herâno warm breakfast awaiting her arrival, there was no familiar presence filling the space. Though disappointment settled in her chest, regret didnât follow. She forced her lips into a smile, willing her spirits to lift.
The kitchen felt like a strangerâs now, so different from just two weeks ago. She mechanically prepared her simple breakfast of warmed milk and bread before heading to the company.
âIs Miss Johns available?â she asked Madisynâs assistant outside the office.
Hearing her voice, Madisyn beckoned her inside.
âI noticed thereâs a music competition show coming up. Iâd like to join as a mentor.â Evieâs singing skills were definitely good enough to be a mentor.
âYour scheduleâs already packed tight,â Madisyn cautioned.
âAdding this would eliminate any free time. Are you certain about this?â
Evie needed the distraction of work, something to fill the hollow spaces in her mind.
âIâm sure. Work gives me purpose.â
âVery well. Iâll send the contract to your agent. Youâre well-suited for this program anyway.â

Madisynâs greatest wish was simpleâto wrap everything up and then kick back and enjoy life without a care in the world. Unfortunately, she was still chasing that elusive finish line. She couldnât help but shake her head.
âYouâre all such workaholics. I feel like the odd one out among you all.â
âAre you talking about Andrew?â Evie asked, raising an eyebrow.
âNo, Iâm talking about you and Waylon. One of you is going to be on a music show, and the other flew off to Mila for work yesterday afternoon. You both act like youâre all about having fun, but youâre working so damn hard.â
âWhat? Heâs gone to Mila?â Evieâs eyes widened, and she sprang to her feet, stunned.
âYeah, he left in a hurry. You didnât expect that, did you?â Madisyn said.
âAlthough he doesnât seem reliable at times, when heâs focused on work, thereâs no one more driven than him. His trip to Mila will probably last a while. I donât know when weâll see him again. Anyway, Evie, take a look at these terms. If everything looks good, Iâll send it to your agent.â Madisyn slid the laptop towards Evie.
Evieâs gaze moved to the screen, but she couldnât focus.
âMadisyn, I trust what youâve arranged for me. Thank you,â Evie said, before hurrying off. Madisyn glanced back at the contract and dialed Andrewâs number.
Andrew was lost in thought when he heard that Evie had asked for additional work.
He knew his sisterâshe wasnât one to bury herself in work. Her unusual behavior made him wonder if he had been neglecting her too much lately.
