Chapter 1185
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 1185:
âMrs. Johns, Madisyn, look at Waylon! Heâs so grown up, but heâs still bullying me.â
Elaine and Madisyn suppressed their smiles, but they were clearly amused.
Madisyn wrapped her arm around Evieâs shoulders, pulling her close. Elaine, on the other hand, leaned in and said comfortingly, âAlright, Evie, letâs ignore that childish man.â
âThatâs right! Humph! He is too childish,â Evie said through clenched teeth.
Madisyn covered her mouth with her hand, trying to stifle her laughter as she watched Evieâs exaggerated pout and Waylonâs smug grin. The two bickered like siblings who hadnât grown up, their playful antics filling the sunroom with an infectious energy.
When Waylon met Madisynâs gaze, he suddenly realized he was not acting like an older brother. He quickly tried to make amends by picking up a piece of mango with a fork and offering it to Evie. He said gently, âLittle Evie, it was my fault. Iâm sorry, okay? Please donât be mad at me anymore. You love mangoes, right? Here, have a bite.â
âWhat? How could someone use a bite-size piece of mango as an apology?â Evie snorted coldly, curling her lips. But she immediately ate the mango. All the anger in her eyes turned into satisfaction after she tasted her favorite fruit.
âFor the mangoâs sake, I will forgive you this time. But if I ever hear you call me monkey again, donât blame me for being harsh.â
âI swear I will never call you that again. Thank you for letting this slide.â
Evie.
Waylon and Evie reconciled quickly after their little scuffle. As the tension dissolved, the warm and inviting sunroom of the Johns family was instantly filled with harmony.

But happy moments always passed quickly. After dinner, Evie said goodbye to the members of the Johns family and got in the car. However, she was reluctant to leave.
Her grandfather lived in the old mansion, and her brother had moved in with his fiancée. She was on her own. Although she was often away for work, she felt so alone every time she returned to the empty house.
The reluctance in Evieâs expression didnât escape Waylonâs sharp eyes. He put his hands in his pockets, leaned against the doorframe, and looked at her, raising an eyebrow.
âLittle Evie, do you want to stay the night? You used to stay at our house often when you were little, anyway.â
Since the Johns family and the Klein family were long-time friends and would be in-laws soon, Elaine didnât see a problem in letting Evie stay. She even invited Evie to stay not just for tonight, but for a few days.
Evie shook her head, a warm smile lighting up her face.
âThanks, Mrs. Johns and Waylon. Iâve had an amazing time today. Iâve got work coming up in the next few days, but donât worry, Iâll definitely be at Howard and Millyâs engagement party!â
She glanced over at Milly and Howard, who had been open about their relationship for quite some time now. Howard had shared at dinner that they were planning to get engaged, and before long, the date was set.
