Andrew’s piercing gaze caught Malachi’s unusual demeanor, and a flicker of realization crossed his face as he guessed who might have sent these flowers. Without lingering on the thought, he set his pen down.

“Put the flowers down.”

Following Andrew’s instruction, Malachi carefully placed the flowers on the desk and quietly excused himself.

As the office door clicked shut, Andrew’s eyes narrowed in thought. His elegant fingers reclaimed the pen and used it to delicately flip open the card nestled among the roses.

“Dear Mr. Klein, would you care to join me for a movie tonight at eight?” The message ended with a dainty pink heart, followed by Madisyn’s signature.

The words on the card caught Andrew off guard, momentarily freezing him in place. He abandoned his pen and lifted the card for a closer inspection. After silently rereading its contents, the stern expression melted from his face. Try as he might to maintain his composure, he couldn’t suppress the smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.

His phone buzzed beside him, displaying a message from Madisyn: “Mr. Klein, I’ll give you three seconds. Do you accept my invitation?” Madisyn watched her phone intently after receiving the delivery confirmation, timing each moment with care.

Her eyes were fixed on the screen, waiting for his reply. Three seconds passed without a text. Instead, Andrew’s incoming video call lit up her display.

The connection opened to reveal Andrew’s upper body perfectly framed in the screen. His sleek office backdrop and tailored black suit exuded authority, yet the Juliet Roses visible in the frame—with their gentle, bright petals—softened his typically icy aura.

Madisyn gazed into Andrew’s eyes, finding only warmth and affection where stern professionalism usually resided.

“Did the flowers arrive? Do you like them?” she asked, her eyes crinkling with joy.

“I’m so glad,” Madisyn replied contentedly.

“Then my efforts weren’t wasted.”

Seeing Andrew’s delight, Madisyn made a mental note to sprinkle such sweet surprises into their future together. Yet, in that moment of planning, she remained blissfully unaware that her romantic gestures mirrored Milly’s ways more than she would ever realize.

Their conversation flowed naturally until reality beckoned—work responsibilities awaiting them both. With practiced efficiency, they settled on their dinner plans before reluctantly ending the call. Shortly after, a soft knock announced Madisyn’s assistant’s arrival.

Madisyn turned to face the door, already knowing from her morning review that it was time for the subsidiary business inspections.

Madisyn adjusted her outfit and, along with her assistant, headed to the location for the inspection. She wasn’t alone in this task; the department heads and others were also present. An hour later, the inspection was complete, and Madisyn glanced at the time—it was already past five in the afternoon. There was still a little more than half an hour before her appointment with Andrew.
