Chapter 1114
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 1114:
âSweetheart, itâs been almost half an hour since the end of the workday. Why didnât you tell me you were working overtime?â
Had it really been this long since the workday ended?
Madisyn had instructed her secretary to only disturb her for urgent matters, but she hadnât intended to become so engrossed in her work that sheâd lost track of time entirely. A pang of guilt made her turn off her computer and face Andrew.
âIâm sorry, I lost track of time. You should learn to be more flexibleâI may not have told you, but you could have asked,â she said with a small, apologetic smile.
Andrewâs expression was one of gentle exasperation. âSweetheart, I did try. I sent messages and called, but you never responded.â
âYou did?â Madisyn reached for her phone, only to find it completely dead.
Andrew crossed to her side with a resigned smile. âYou got so absorbed in your work. Arenât you exhausted after working all afternoon?â
Madisyn shook her head. Now that she had broken away from her task, she felt strangely unfulfilled. âIâm fine. Letâs head homeâI can finish the rest there.â
Andrew didnât press her about why sheâd been so busy that day. Instead, his thoughts shifted to what delicious meal he could prepare to lift her spirits.
The drive home was quiet, save for the soft music playing through the speakers, Madisynâs mind still tangled in the details of work.
At home, after washing her hands, Madisyn wandered into the kitchen, looking to help Andrew with dinner preparations.
Andrew, determined to keep her from working more, turned to her with a smile.
âGive me your hand.â
Madisyn extended one hand, curious.
âThe other one too,â he added.
Bemused but compliant, Madisyn offered both hands. Andrew turned, retrieved a fruit bowl and an opened yogurt container from the counter, and placed them in her palms.
âNow, take these two things and head to the sofa. Go,â Andrew playfully commanded.
Madisyn glanced down at her hands, then back at him, her heart melting at his thoughtful gesture. Rising on tiptoe, she pressed a soft kiss to his lips.
âYes, sir! Right away!â she replied with a mischievous wink before leaving the kitchen.
The warmth of her kiss lingered as Andrew watched her go, a smile playing on his lips.
The next morning, Madisyn rose early. Over breakfast, still feeling guilty about making Andrew wait yesterday, she announced, âIâll drive myself to the office todayâno need to pick me up after work.â As she spoke, Madisyn had already snatched up the keys. Andrew wanted to protest, but the words caught in his throat.
âOkay, but if anything happens, contact me anytime, got it?â Andrew ruffled Madisynâs hair with gentle affection.
Madisyn bobbed her head twice in quick succession. âI know.â
