Chapter 1098
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 1098:
As she leaned against the headboard, her mind replayed vivid fragments from the dream she had just experienced.
âMr. Johnsâ¦â Docie whispered.
This wasnât the first time Dane had appeared in her dreams.
In tonightâs dream, there was a weddingâbut this time, she was the bride, beaming at Dane in a stunning gown.
Docie switched on her phone, scrolling to a photo she had saved earlier that day.
The glow of the screen betrayed the longing in her eyes.
The following day, Susan and a maid were in the storeroom, sorting through the wedding gifts from the guests.
Spotting Docieâs custom-made perfume among the gifts, Susan uncapped the bottle and gave it a light spritz.
A sweet aroma filled the air, reminiscent of a sunlit orchard. But moments later, the scent of damp, earthy moss surfaced, overshadowing the initial fragrance and transporting the senses to a shaded, damp corner.
The fragrance was pleasant overall, but its sudden shift puzzled Susan as she studied the delicate green perfume bottle in her hand.
Docieâs gift was handcrafted, yet this perfume deviated greatly from her usual style. Why, Susan wondered, was moss included in the base notes?
Given Docieâs expertise, it was unlikely sheâd overlook a better alternativeâunless there was something else on her mind.
While Susan might have missed the mark in some areas, perfumery was not one of them. She had inherited her motherâs exceptional talent for the craft.
A perfumerâs inspiration is often tied to their mood, and Susan understood that well.

After a brief moment of contemplation, she sent a message to Docie. âDocie, Iâve tested the perfume you made for me, and thereâs a minor issue Iâd like to discuss.
The base note would be better with the scent of bamboo. What are your thoughts? I think you would have considered this.â
Docie, who was in the research lab, saw the message. She quickly glanced at the distillation apparatus and tapped her screen a few times. âI didnât think about that. But Iâll give the improvement you suggested a try.â
Susan stared at Docieâs reply silently. After a pause, she sent another message. âDocie, is there something else on your mind?â
Why else would Docie choose the earthy, damp moss scentâone that had a muddier, heavier toneâwhen all of her perfumes were typically fresh and light?
Docie took longer to respond this time.
âIâm fine. I just wanted to push myself and create a fragrance that felt uniquely mine. Iâve already made the changes you suggested, and Iâll send a sample your way.â
Docie snapped a photo of the revised sample and sent it to Susan.
Once the conversation ended, she placed both bottles of perfume side by side. She examined them for a moment before picking up the first one she made and spraying it on her neck and wrists.
