Chapter 1087
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 1087:
Susan answered promptly, her cheerful face appearing on the screen. âHi, Susan.â
Smiling, Madisyn asked, âHow have you been these past few days? Are you feeling bored being alone?â
Susan shook her head with a gentle smile. âNot at all. Iâve been reading after work, and Dane comes home early to keep me company. Oh, and Docie stopped by today.â
Adjusting the camera, Susan revealed Docieâs face.
Madisyn responded with a polite nod.
After that, Susan turned the camera back to herself. âTomorrowâs Friday, and Docie wanted advice for the banquet. I gave her a few pointers.â
Madisyn nodded and continued chatting for a while before ending the call as her secretary entered her office with new contracts for her to sign.
âMiss Riggs, your fresh juice is ready.â
Seeing Susan set her phone down, Docie pointed at a glass of green liquid on the table.
Susan nodded and drank it in one go, leaving Docie impressed. âMiss Riggs, vegetable juice isnât as tasty as fruit juice. How do you manage to drink such a large glass?â
Smiling, Susan replied, âIâve grown to like milder flavors lately, so it suits me. Youâll understand when youâre my age.â
Docie nodded slightly in understanding, observing Susanâs delicate, unchanged appearance despite her pregnancy. She couldnât help but wonder how far along she was.
Curiosity got the better of her, and Docie asked directly. While Susan never discussed her pregnancy at work, she felt comfortable enough at home to talk about it with Docie. âIâm almost five months along now.â

âItâs hard to tell,â Docie commented thoughtfully.
âMiss Riggs, why didnât you marry Mr. Johns immediately when you found out about the pregnancy? Didnât you think you would look even more beautiful in a wedding dress at that time?â
Docieâs questions transported Susan back to when she first learned she was pregnant. Her eyes shimmered with mixed emotions as she replied, âA lot happened between us.
The baby was unexpected, and by the time we found out, we got engaged right away and started planning the wedding.â
âI see,â Docie said.
Noticing the change in Susanâs tone, Docie held back from asking further questions but couldnât stop thinking about her words.
What challenges did wealthy families encounter in marriages? Why did Susan say the baby was unexpected? Was Susan using the baby to make Dane treat her well?
Susan often felt sleepy at home, so Docie didnât stay for long. While in the taxi, she pulled out her phone and impulsively searched for news about Dane.
Dane, the CEO of Johns Group, appeared on her screen with an impressive resume, influential social connections, notable accomplishments, and photos from various events.
Docie had never encountered anyone like Dane. His profile felt like a glimpse into an entirely different world, drawing her into a reality beyond anything she had imagined.
